Jon's First Outdoor Grow: Sugar Breath Photoperiod & Strawberry Banana Autoflower

Morning @StoneOtter - well, at least the ability to invent one quickly when necessary, lol. One thing I'm learning about if you're going to continually grow all the time: flexibility is essential, and loss is part of the game. The skill is learning how to mitigate your loss, or at least one of them is. We all do it, I learned it here! I think what Krissi is doing bringing her girls back from those yellow edges is a great example of mitigating loss early in veg, this one here - well, I don't really have a choice, right? One day, bugs on one part of one plant's branch. Removed. Next day, bugs on two little buds on another branch of the other plant. Pretty easy to see where this is going I think. If they were weeks younger I'd try to figure out what they were and kill them, but given the timing I felt a bit stuck for options. So down they come. Oh well.

I do take this crap better than when I first got here don't I? I remember crying to all you guys over losing one plant in veg in the past. Lol. Live and learn, right?

Thanks!
Well done!

@StoneOtter....she's bug free right this moment. I could toss her outside to finish. It's almost exactly 12/12 and I don't think she'd reveg, especially not in three or four days. OR, I could put her outside while I thoroughly clean the tent today and get her back in before bedtime. Problem there is, what if there's bugs I can't see on the plant itself that won't hatch or become a problem if I take her, but will if I let her go inside or out.

Just chop, huh?

If she's got ant milky trichs I would just chop to free my mind. Either way I think you have it covered and will overcome.

Hey @Azimuth, you out there this morning? What do you think of the above idea?
Morning, Jon.

If it were me, and you really think it would best to go another week, I'd let it go and just check for new bugs really carefully two, maybe three times a day. Maybe they really didn't spread and you caught them early enough.

Then, if that doesn't turn out to be true you can just harvest.

You might lose a little bit more harvest in the gamble, but the upside could be well worth it.

But, easy for me to say. You're the one that gets the consequences either way.

Thanks for getting back. That's where I was going. But with a thorough tent clean while she spends today out in the sun. Cuz here's why in pictures, you tell me - doesn't it look like it still needs seasoning and is still actively fattening? The trichs are crying for more time to my eyes.

Hey @Bill284, I'm looking at this DSD and she's bug free right now. I could toss her outside and let her finish up outside - it's about 12/12 now, I don't think she'd reveg. What do you think? Or just chop her?

Good morning Jon.
I'm not a lover of bleach myself but if work's then I use it.
About 10% in a spray bottle with water.
DSD if she is in the range and you have time I'd just get it over with.
Seeing as there aren't any leaves left on her.

Stay safe
Bill

This is pretty true. Hadn't considered that. Ok. Done. She comes down, I clean the tent, (already begun), and I begin anew. Sooner than expected. Yay! Coco time!

It sucks to have to chop early because of bugs but it still looks like a nice harvest. Glad you spotted those bugs when you did...

Thanks @LKABudMan. It is what it is. Still super frosty, still what's there is reasonably dense, still will be a half decent harvest. Maybe just more kief from the Trim Bin than there would have been, but I'm okay with that too.

Morning Jon! I'm surprised you don't have all kinds of bug issues with your outdoor plants. Years ago when I grew there was an organic bug killer called Dr. Doom. I looked for it recently and couldn't find it anywhere. It worked great for me back in the day when I had a bug outbreak. It's also safe to use Neem but maybe not so close to the chop.

To my admittedly not-so-great eyes your plant looks ready. I've never grown a purple plant. As the kids say I'm so jelly lol

Good luck!

Final Report
Harvest

Well, it was definitely the right call. Found a few tiny pockets, probably lost another quarter ounce or so of dried bud, maybe a bit more. Still, the lion's share is great and about to get hung.

So here is what is getting hung - it's about 80% of the plant by my estimation.

Here is what has bugs or dead bugs at the base of the small buds and is likely trashed.

The bugs are pretty easy to find, lol.

Here's a few buds I kept out to wet trim, as I like to compare drying rates between wet trimmed and not sometimes.

And here's a picture and a closeup of a wet trimmed finished bud.

You can clearly see the youngness of it. Lots of bright green. But also tons of white frost, lots of color, great density, and stinks like a mug. It'll be just fine, just a bit early for my preference. I'm pretty excited actually, now I can get moving on the new round.

So there you go. Work now.

Sorry to hear about the bugs and see them...yucky...but those buds and that cola look fantastic! I'd have no complaints if I were you. I'm dreading getting this bug issue! It seems to be spreading everywhere I look on the forum. Why do some places seem to be more prone to them than others? All I have encountered is gnats thus far.

I can tell you everything there is to know about fungus gnats, including four methods to get rid of them. But any other bug I am 100% clueless about. I can identify a ladybug when I see one, that's about it.

That's good question cause it's mostly cold and winter still bugs should be out as bad . Plus poxitonia Phil " the groung HoG "died very next day after seeing his shadow too. So idk.
