You would think so. I thought so. I was sure of it. I don't have the ability to show you a scope photo, but every one of those things I checked in the scope, about five or six, were leg free and green. Some appear in the photo to have legs but they aren't, they are just tiny pieces of garbage. Most of it was green, some was black. None of it move or ever was moving the entire time I messed around with it. And it's not on any other branch or leaf on either plant in the entire tent. I wish I kept that crap, I'd try a super zoomed photo to show you what I'm saying as best a phone can. Is it possible that a couple of these things are bugs? Sure it's possible. All I'm saying is that this was a proximity to water constantly dripping issue, not a bug issue. Also not a mold issue. These plants get moved around and rotated nearly every day. Every branch has contacted every other branch on both plants at this point. This has been for quite a while. Including what had to be the days this stuff existed. No spread. No issues. Thing about the rotating is, they really only "fit" given their shapes in one way, so this branch inevitably almost always ended up back at the same spot - right where the AC blasts on high 24/7. There was water dripping on the underside of the stem when I found it. And if it were bugs or mold, it would be next to impossible to not be seeing infection anywhere else on any other branch or leaf anywhere. So if there's a few bugs in this mess, so be it, but I suggest they were nothing more than a by-product of the other situation.

That's my story, I'm sticking to it. Could I be wrong? Sure. I can always be wrong. Could they have all been bugs, just confined to one half of one branch with no other spread? I suppose it's possible. And could every one have been a bug, just dead ones, and when I scoped them the legs were burned off and it looked like vegetation when in reality it was a dead bug. I suppose that's possible too.

All I really care about in this case is the bottom line: problem solved.

EXPERIMENT IN THE NAME OF SCIENCE
Ok @Azimuth and @InTheShed, I guess this one's for you guys

You two led the discussion on this the other night, so I tagged you both, obviously. Great idea Azi, so as I said I ran with it. A bit of a delicate operation but I pulled it off I think.

Here's what I did in steps to achieve what you see in the picture, her final and only home:
1. Prepped the pot
2. Removed mulch from around plant
3. Wet the pot and the soil the plant was in all around so it would hold together
4. Used long bread knife to cut a circular cylinder about 8 inches across, plant in the center, all around the plant to what I thought was deep enough to clear the bottom of the tap root
5. Used same knife to cut the bottom of this cylinder so the whole would come out cleanly
6. Carefully transplanted into 3 gallon fabric pot
7. Topped the pot off and cleaned it up

My pot prep was the fun part. I invented my own prep based on what I had on hand. Here's the skinny on the pot prep:
- Bottom half of pot is straight Sohum mixed with 20% perlite
- On top of that is an amedment layer of bokashi, frass, and a little Geoflora veg, very thin, a few tbsp. each
- The top half of the pot is split in two. Directly on top of the Sohum layer is a layer of 40% FF soil blend (OF and HF)/40% Sohum/20% perlite, that fills about half the remaining top half of the pot
- Then another similar sprinkling layer of the bokashi, frass, and Geoflora veg
- Then the very top and top off layer is taken directly from the 7 gallon pot the Raspberry Parfait grew in, which is that same FF soil blend but that plant got Geo nutes, so this top layer is used Geo amended.
- Top dressed the soil surface with Geo veg and a bit of Great White
- Watered the entire medium after transplanting the plant

But the fun continued. Here's what was in the gallon of water:
- 1/8th tsp of the Blue Planet CalMag pro stuff, the powder, cuz it's high in N and she may need it
- 1 tsp. Fox Farms Microbe Brew
- 1 tsp. Fox Farms Grow Big
- 1/4 tsp. Easy Weed Seaweed supplement
- 1 tsp. Fox Farms Kelp Me Kelp You
- 2 drops 40% MSA

The supplements that are not organic are to sustain her until she works her way out of the root ball I transplanted and into the yummy stuff I just put in. In the time it will take the plant to do that, the amendments will have a chance to begin to work their magic, so when the roots start to hit the microbes they'll be humming and ready for them. The watering is simply water to 6.3 for the first two weeks, and after that it shouldn't matter and we can proceed from there as if it were an entire organic grow with just water.

So there you go. That's the skinny, and the plan is to simply put her in a spot out back right now and let her live under the exact same light conditions we had when we discussed this experiment.

What's you guys' take on what I did? Total overkill? Dumb? Never work? Might work? Who knows? Before you answer, remember that whatever happens with this plant, it's half you guys' fault. LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:rofl::rofl: Like Azi said, it's in the name of science. Heh.

Experiment again lol.jpg

On behalf of Azi and myself, we will take the blame, credit, and 2/3 of the harvest!
LOL!! Done. I'll see you guys in a couple months. Lol. Hey, it'll be fun and easy. What the hell. And may I take this comment as an indicator that you think I could have done worse on the pot prep and such? Think she has enough to produce something?

If it lives, eventually you'll pull a harvest off it! But be sure only to drool on your third. :thanks:
I didn't have a two emoji option, so let me add this one: :green_heart:

I feel like I'm caught up...but not really caught up at all. I'm more confused about what's happening. I'll need to go get a quick smoke and come back to this.

Bugs that aren't bugs and something about a soil lasagna that is going to cost you 2/3 of your harvest.

Lmao! Here, I'll make it easy for you:

- me and Shed disagree on what the garbage I took off yesterday is, that's that discussion
- but also Shed and Azimuth were the ones who talked me into doing the new experiment, and when I jokingly said it was their fault too whatever happened, Shed said cool, we split the take three ways. In a nutshell.

See? Easier than it seems.

PS - Pretty sure Shed thinks I'm an overposter. Lol.

Wow! That's way more effort than I would have gone thru. :goodjob:

The bet was whether or not it would flip into flower as soon as it was ready, not how much you could pull off (her/him). But big respect to your effort!

LOL!! Done. I'll see you guys in a couple months. Lol.

Damn well better be more than a couple of months! You will recall my bet was that it wouldn't kick right in to flower as soon as it was ready. Shed was generous in not holding us to our original stakes of half of each of our houses, but a "couple of months" will mean we have likely lost the bet.

I would have preferred a comment more along the lines of "see you in October!"

Ha! Well, I said a couple months because if you recall, this experiment is really about the solstice. Right now, officially by sunrise/sunset, they get less than 12/12. In a week they begin to get more than 12/12 every day, by a few minutes. My theory is it stays in veg. The other is that it does not. Don't you think we'll know the answer to that in a couple months?

I'm having fun with this. That was my take on the experiment. Is that how you see it?

BTW congrats on the motm nomination. :thumb:

Thanks very much. Hey what did you think about my pot prep and watering charge for the transplanted mystery plant? Lots of you in there. I liked it, can't wait to see if she lives or dies. If she lives, she's got plenty to eat.

She will be a beautiful lady no doubt. :thumb:
