Jon's First Outdoor Grow: Sugar Breath Photoperiod & Strawberry Banana Autoflower

I'm confused too, lol. No, it's all good, I get it. You must have kept the fourth node and taken the six from nodes one, two and three, right? This is approximately what Shed is telling me too. I told him that I need to lose my trepidation about taking this stuff and just do it when the time is right and if it's appropriate. I am certainly going to take my second node growth off soon. The third is part of my canopy so that stays. But yeah, I need to be more aggressive. I'm wasting too much energy on growth that becomes maybe one bong hit of a bud and flarf. Thanks!!
I don't have a rule. i wait and see if they make it to the top. Hmmm maybe another rule.

CJS Apple Blossom Light Increase Day!!
Veg Day 49

Supposed flowering time on the Strawberry Lemonade is 60 days. We are on 36. I cannot begin to imagine these buds if they last another 24 days, but maybe I'm way off. Opinions desired!! You can see her real well in the bud picture, and this is the plant. All the buds look like this now. The Blueberry and Dos Si Dos buds are still on their initial white hair volley and neither has begun to shoot colors yet anywhere near like this. Again, opinions desired, but to my eye this is looking more like 50 days ish. She seems fairly far along compared to the other two. SO much color and bud development at day 36, it's rather crazy.

Today I increased the light to the Apple Blossom, first thing this morning at 5 am. She was at around 850, I pumped her up to around 975 ppfd. I wasn't sure how she'd take it as every strain is different, and she seemed happy enough. But that's just it - she was "happy enough." Now she's overwhelmed. These plants are junkies for the light once they get to a point. All I did was make sure she was using a clean needle I got from the exchange. So I figured I would check on her after a day (8 hours) which is now. And as you can see, she's fine. In my experience she would not look like this after 8 hours if she couldn't handle the amount of ppfd. I'll keep watch but I believe she's fine.

Here are today's bud porn offerings, including some veg porn, lol. Enjoy, happy Saturday.

1. Cocotown
2. Strawberry Lemonade bud day 36 flower
3. Before I upped the light intensity. This is how she looked upon wake up.
4. 8 hours after upping the light intensity. Still praying like nothing happened. Note that you can discern the difference in what around a 100 point ppfd increase with this light in a 3x3 looks like by comparing the walls of the tent in the before and after pics.

Looks great Jon. And yea I would imagine another 26 days they're gonna get chunky...which is friggin sweet. And I wanted to ask about the bamboo sticks. Should I put them in the dirt now while roots aren't everywhere so I don't damage them putting them into the soil later on down the line?

Everything’s chugging along great … simply MAHVELOUS DAHLING!!!

You have some nice bulky and heavy tops there. I really like you training technique too. You doing great keep it up.

Thanks @HappyHazmat88! Funny you ask that, I had the same question for the same reason. I went to the experts and learned that while you may slightly damage some roots in the process of pushing the stick in, what you will hurt will be nothing compared to the whole and will be nothing to the plant, assuming you have a real rootball. Basically they said don't worry about it. So while I was cool with that, I chose to take two extra steps despite their assurances, and specifically to bigger bamboo posts like we're talking about:
1. I take a pocketknife and use it on the dirt end of the post and whittle it to a point. I figure that beats pushing a basically big round thing through. At least the point allows for potentially less damage.
2. Take excessive care on the assessment part of where to place them so that I don't have to pull a bamboo out and restick it in two inches over from where I began. That happens a lot if you don't carefully assess first, and the simple point is I try to stick it in ONCE. You know?

That's all I got man. Hope it helps. Lol...

Yield Report
Gorilla Zkittlez
In the Jar!

I'll tell you guys first thing that this one doesn't hurt at ALL. This Gorilla Zkittlez plant just became my second highest yielding auto of all time in terms of finished, jarred, dried and well-trimmed buds. And considering she comes in second only to the Chunkadelic that started this grow at 6.9 ounces after three weeks of cure (7.2 before that), and considering how painfully average at best the Chunky is, I would consider this plant the top of my personal auto heap.

171 grams = 6.1 ounces. And that's 6.1 ounces of buds like in these pictures. I will take that any day of the week. This plant just outyielded every photo plant so far in this grow, none of them broke the 6 ounce finished buds mark. Not only that, this bud is absolutely stellar in every regard. You can see how gorgeous it is. It smells like cotton candy heaven, with a load of sweet and sugar and fruit that's just off the charts, and that's before curing! The buds are as dense as they look, kind of like a step denser than a magic eraser, but not quite ROCKS. But plenty dense. Loaded with trichs. I'm in heaven with this bud and I am going to begin growing this auto again ASAP. If she gave me 6 ounces like these buds in a 7 of Sohum, what would she give me in a 7 of COCO? I intend to find out. This is one of the finest auto strains out there in my opinion. And obviously a half decent yielder.

Sorry, if I sound like I'm bragging I'm truly not and don't mean at all to come off that way, lots of folks beat yields like this. I'm just SUPER DUPER psyched. Yes, the yield is great, but the quality is what I'm so psyched about. I can't wait to smoke it in three weeks and see how she actually is.

Here's the porn, and one of these is really good I think, if it had existed five days ago I'd have entered it in POTM instead of the one I did. You'll see which one I mean, it's impossible to miss. But I'll tell you anyway, I saved it for last. Lol. I'm such a dramatic jerk.

I give you my Gorilla Zkittlez:

You will get a lot of takers on those!

:welldone: and excellent trimming/
When I top, I like to leave a bit of a stub protruding up from the node rather than cut it flush. That seems to strengthen that node and help keep it from splitting down the road when the plant gets bigger and stronger.
I've always refered to that as the double H stump, since I learned it from her back in 2019:
If it’s okay, I’d add some info I recently learned and found helpful for down the road. When doing the topping, leave a small amount of stem above the nodes, creating a bit of a “stump”. It will help to not accidentally damage those new leaves at the node being left behind. The main reason I personally like this idea is because growers will later begin training those arms and can accidentally split the base. Leaving the ‘stump’ behind helps give more support to prevent those arms from splitting. I don’t know if thats useful for your purposes or not, I just wish I had known that a little earlier myself.
She hasn't objected to the name yet. ;)

Thanks Shed! I think I heard you say once you can do 10 ounces in a day, is that right? Something along those lines? That's FAST. What I'm finding, now that I actually have a ton of buds to trim for the first time, is that you get faster and more accurate, ie, better, fairly quickly. I'm not yet at the point where I can do 10 ounces in a day, but I sure did a few 6 ouncers this last few weeks, and that was cramping my fingers! Lol.

Those are beautiful buds Jon! I haven't been able to squeeze that from an auto!
Thanks SO, but what are you talking about? I've seen what you produce, and it's always top notch and I'm sure you've "squeezed" this from all your plants, lol. I wish we lived closer, in a month or a little longer we could get together and have ourselves a good old-fashioned Dos Si Dos tasting!! We'd have five phenos to get through between both of us. That's an afternoon anyway!!

Blueberry
Flower Day 37

Since we did the Strawberry Lemonade the other day, thought we'd take a closer look at the Blueberry today. This plant dominates the odor in the tent, overwhelming the other two. It's very blueberry patch smelling, and getting stronger by the day it seems. She's obviously pretty frosty, and it appears to me she'll produce some nice, chunky buds. She outdrinks the other two as well, by a good bit. Thirsty plant. And as you can see she's starting to toss the colors around. @Bill284, here's a question for you - my instincts and eyes are telling me that all three of these girls could take a small uptick in nutes at this point. They barely have any yellow tips, and all are super healthy. Tomorrow we begin week 10 of the FF feed chart. I was considering upping the prescribed concentrations by 25% across the board. At least try it for the first feeding of the week. (They go through a gallon each daily - every single day I give each a gallon - it's astounding). I would think it wouldn't take long to see if that was a bit too much. What do you think? We've been on straight prescription since that first bump we did around week 3. Hell, we're doing the tea, the full FF line, and the buds are huge - why not go for it? Or am I overthinking this? Thanks!

So here's our Sunday Blueberrry bud porn:

1. Upper buds (ignore the DSD cola back left) example
2. Mid-level buds example
3. Lowest, smallest buds example
4. Random bud top 1
5. Random bud top 2

I've gotten my ppm's pretty high by now.
You are just going by the chart?
Not reading ppm's if I'm correct.
That's that beauty of being able to read your ladies.
As long as your not increasing nitrogen, read and feed. :thumb:

Lol. Yes, I disregarded the advice to get a ppm pen or whatever and decided I could read the girls well enough to pull it off without one. It was sort of a "I hope I'm right" kinda thing, but so far so good. And thanks on the N, I'll make sure and check the labels of everything and not up the ones that are N oriented. Yes? And yes, I've gone strictly by the chart except for that early time when you said to try giving them an upper, and I did. But that was like week 3 or 4, and since then we've been straight chart. I did increase the Microbe Brew a touch cuz I knew I could do that.

That'd be a blast! It's pretty skillful to do that with an auto! Photo's sure, autos, difficult! Nice work!

By now I've started to dial back the nitrogen and down to micro dose tword the end.
Watch and use your knowledge of what stage she is in and feed accordingly.
Use the schedule as a guide but eventually you will able to see where they are and what they are eating.
