But those buds you had to take? I know you are fighting the rot/mold … but damn they’re gorgeous!I Hate to Repeat Myself, But......
Dos Si Dos #1 Partial Harvest
Four Tops - One from Each Autoflower
Well, so I moved the autos into the sun for the afternoon cuz it was nice and calm and clear. I figured I would get pics of each top to show you guys. So I did that, and those are the first four pictures. Lots of frost and color.
Then I took a closer look at the Dos Si Dos I had already taken one cola from. A REAL close look at all the buds. This is the plant with the purple top in the pictures I am referring to. I looked up underneath. Pulling them apart to see in between the little buds that make up the whole cola. Etc. And sure enough, I found a couple more instances of just barely beginning bud rot. No mold anywhere, just the beginning color change and those annoying little red lines in too light of green that all have to go. I hate those things.
That was It. No more messing around with this plant, the colas are simply too big and dense to not rot given my environment, which I obviously have no way to affect. The smaller buds seemed issue free. I took the tops, all except for the smallest one which seems to be okay. Then I wet trimmed and broke down all the buds from the colas. I had to dig in there to make sure I got the rot. You gotta dig deep. I thought I had it all a few times then I pulled the bud apart a bit more and shined my scope light into it and found more. It's insidious that crap. I separated basically every bud. Of those six huge tops I took I probably lost a total of one whole top, so maybe 18-20% loss. That was take no chances trimming them up loss, it could have been less if I wanted to risk losing these buds. So nothing I can't live with. I'm learning that managing loss is part of this game. I tend to get too upset about it, but that's fading fast. Getting used to it now, lol. No matter, this plant is still going to yield big, the buds are so heavy and dense it's incredible. We will let the remaining buds finish up as they should, maybe another 3-5 days. She was pretty close.
After that I did a hyper defol on all the autos, focusing primarily on the sugar leaves in between the buds where mold can build real easy, especially when you have sugar leaves that are thick with trichomes on the underneath side of the leaves. Something I noticed over the last couple days. Seems to be where the mold often starts.
So lots of fun with autos today. Should not have any more rot issues. The sativa DSDs are much smaller, albeit just as dense, buds. Much more sativa looking and should be just fine, as are the buds on the GZ. First time I grew the Gorilla I got the indica pheno and it looked like the Strawberry Bananas I just harvested, low and fat buds. This one is huge and tall and sativa all the way. Cool.

Partial Harvest

- Digging into a bud to get the mold and what it looks like when you get it cleaned out
- The six tops I ended up taking and busting apart and trimming now drying - big tray full of buds
I just cut down the buds even more and harvested the rest of the plant. Too dense. Too worried about rot. Even in the little ones there was a touch. I literally separated every single bud down to the individual buds, there are no colas or big buds left, BUT, they're all rot/mold free, there's a good three ounces easy still, (I probably lost an ounce total off the plant), and it smells amazing and is sticky as hell. Even when you break the buds down to their smallest increment, each little bud left is dense and legit. There was zero flarf on the indiica pheno. I can already see there will be a little bit on the sativa ones, but every bud on the indica pheno is legit. It's a double edged sword. If I grew it again I'd be hoping for the indica pheno cuz the buds are huge and so sweet, but unless you can consistently keep the Rh in the 30s I don't know that I would. The sativa ones are way easier to manage. Lol. Anyway, yeah man, keep that Rh as low as you possibly can. If you can stay in the 30s you should be okay. The average Rh outdoors for this plant's lifetime was about 45%, and that definitively didn't work. Lol again. Oh well. And who knows, yours could be totally different. I just want to let you know how mine are going to give you at least some MINIMAL reference point. Go for it man!!!!!!35% rh this day and I'm trying to keep it there now!
Congratulations you have a double header mucker.Hi @Bill284. Merry Christmas! Here's your Christmas Eve Coco Girls update.
Let's see, it's day 21 of flower. Stretch is finally over. The Dos Si Dos stretched for almost three weeks. I just had to raise the light on account of her. My light has never seen the stratosphere it's in before. It's talking to my carbon filter and exhaust fan which it's never met before. Lol. That move also lowered the Rh about 4-5%, which was sweet.
All of them are humming. I can't find a blemish. It's impossible to overwater them. You can just dump the water on. What's the downside again? These plants are huge, way over my head. I have to lift my wheelchair all the way to it's max height to get close to the tops and even then I look up at them. Every pistil I see is white as a sheet. All my tent plants in the past have had at least some semblance of a canopy. This is totally different. Basically outdoor plants in every way. So I'm not even sure what to defol when the time comes. I have no idea what kind of lower bud formation and such we'll get from plants like this in a tent. Very curious. They all seem to be getting a ton of light top to bottom, in that regard the openness of the plants may be an advantage in the yield game, I have no clue to be honest. This is uncharted territory for me. Who the hell would grow three plants in a tent and just let them grow with zero training like this? I wouldn't with a photo most likely, can't imagine a scenario when I would. But that's what I got - three of them. Would you strip the bottom growth in this situation? I did not with any of the other outdoor plants and even the very lowest branches yielded legit buds. But I will if it's a good idea, up maybe a foot or so anyway.
Here they are. There's a top and bud shot of each, and the last picture is a Blueberry bud that looks to my eye like just maybe I have my first double bud top. I've seen several pictures of people getting them occasionally and have been hoping for one just for the weirdness of it. We'll see but maybe this is it.
Enjoy the holiday Bill. You deserve a good one. Merry Christmas my friend and thank you for all the help. Hey, I'm going to meet Oldmanjj in person next week!!! He's on vacation and coming to visit me! My first actual met person from the forum, I'm psyched. Jealous of all the Canadians who get to hang out when I see a post to that effect.

3-4: Dos Si Dos
5-6: Blueberry
Thanks Bill. Ok, will do. The height isn't too tall for the tent, but they're way above the rest. I'll bend them today. I should have already thought of and done that. And enjoy your holiday. I'll get back with you in a couple days.Congratulations you have a double header mucker.
That's great tell him I said hi when you see him, smoke one for me.
You can just keep giving nutrients to them like crazy and they keep getting bigger and better.
I don't know why you would use soil after this right!!!
Unless outdoor.
Your so funny when you get excited, you asked about lowers and never posted a pic.
Outside grow fine leave it, but inside I clean below the light line.
I wait at least 3 weeks from flip.
If you want larf for butter you can leave a little otherwise get rid of it.
Anything below her skirt can go.
But don't touch anything else.
All her leaves stay in place no plucking.
And lastly, I think, I'll have to check.
Since you grew outdoor Christmas trees your in uncharted territory my friend.
How bad is the height.
I know you don't want to ruin the look but I would tie over those main stems regardless.
Tie over the mains and drop your light back down.
Otherwise your tops will be great and rest will be softer.
The rest of the plant benefits from a closer source of energy.
Hope that covers everything.
Have a Merry Christmas Jon.
I wish you and your family nothing but happiness in the new year aswell.
Take care my friend.
Stay safe
Bill
Beautiful work my friend.New Canopy in Cocotown
Hey @Bill284, here's the whole brand new canopy. I spent more time with my plants today than my family. This was an extremely delicate operation that took a long time. No breaks. No rips. No tears. Lowered everything a lot, light will come down in the morning. Those stems were STIFF. Almost impossible to supercrop, as I considered doing. No way that way gonna happen, it would take days. So this is what we are going with, and I completed the three week into flower defol as well. We're all lit up top to bottom and at least have some semblance of a canopy.
Here it is: 2 pictures of the new canopy and three of the lowers, one from each plant. Order of the lowers pictures is Strawberry Lemonade, Dos Si Dos, Blueberry.
I feel you. I'm still catching up slowly. Also just grabbed a 3x3x6 tent for the garage with some Xmas money. Gonna set it up with the NextLight 420h and grow one big auto at a time til I move. That way I can break down the outdoor rig as soon as the Apple Blossom goes to flower, which will make the house show-able, and I have time for a one big auto grow in there before I move. Easy. Auto in coco. Lol. I get the tent Jan. 6, so I'll be ready to go that day. Easy five minute setup with my helper, already have all the other necessary pieces, and I'll always have a use for a 3x3. Perfect size to grow one giant auto. Yoink! Heh.All looking beautiful @Jon !! Finally getting a chance to catch up on journals!
Beautiful Amigo.Cocotown Update
Flower Day 24
It's difficult to get good pictures in the tent at the moment, between the reds, the way the plants are, and the angles I can get. So I'll post good pictures as I am able to get them.
Here's a pretty good one of how the lower "canopy," ie, everything below the bent over cola, looks on our Dos Si Dos Fast Flowering girl, on the left wall side of the tent if you're looking in the front main doors.
She's got a ton of buds. They all have snow white pistils. She's starting to stink already too. Not sure when they started to stink outside with all the moving air and such. In the tent though, man. What a difference. All three of these plants are already giving off enough odor to smell immediately upon opening the tent doors. Wondering just how loud it's gonna get. We like loud grows. The louder the better. Heh.
Enjoy! And what was up with the second NFL game, on damn Christmas day, and the only one of the two worth watching in my opinion, NOT being on network TV, OR ESPN? The NFL Channel? Seriously? Who the hell has that in their basic cable package? And why should I need it on Christmas day? There's only two games. Come on. Heh.
