Jon's First Outdoor Grow: Sugar Breath Photoperiod & Strawberry Banana Autoflower

Hmm...I thought it wouldn't work right without the decarb step. I gotta check that out. It's so easy though, why not just decarb.
Yup - I decarbed on the oven - hubby said it was too much for him *lol*

Hey @Renaissance Man, nice to "meet" you. Heh. Don't think we've communicated before have we? If so I apologize. Lol. So regarding your comment, I really would love to know if that's true. I don't mention my actual state (not that it's a big mystery based on what I do say) for obvious reasons, but I am always eager to meet people who may actually live near me who are in our world. So if you feel like it, send me a conversation about where you're at and we can see if we have any actual proximity to one another. If not that's cool too and thanks for saying hey - you are the first comment of a new journal. That's gotta be worth it's weight in gold. :laughtwo: :laughtwo: :laughtwo: :laughtwo: :laughtwo:
We must be in the same state. Look forward to the grow
Sounds like Hawaii?

Trichomes and Buds
Raspberry Parfait
Grow Day 81
Flower Day 45

Advance apologies for posting such similar pics each day of this plant. But she's getting very close. We're in daily trichome check territory now. A couple things I am forced to accept:

- This plant is going to finish faster than most of my autos ever do. By far.
- This plant is going to be a low yielder. The buds in the pics appear bigger than they actually are. QP is my guess. I frankly expected like twice that. She's in a 7 and hasn't been trained in the least. Just let to grow and this is how she grew. Obviously that yield would be easily increased with training, but in my opinion, if I'm right about it, it's still a very low yielding plant for an outdoor photo in a 7 with a well developed root ball.
- I honestly don't see her making 60 days. Today is 45. What do you guys think?
- This MAY be a case where since it's outdoors, trichs may NOT be the best or most accurate indicator of finish. Already we have amber everywhere, just a bit. Also many clear. Mostly white though. So I try to augment that reference point with how the buds look. Do they look as close to finished from the outside as the trichomes indicate? They look pretty close to "finished" looking to me. Now there's just whatever fattening is going to happen. I can see little spots of new growth popping out of the buds, so I can see they're still fattening up. That tells me more like a week to ten days. I'll be real surprised if they go 15 more days.

I have no idea why this plant has seemingly finished so quickly. When I saw HSC said 60 days my first thought was Yeah, right, nothing is done in 60 days. But obviously I was very wrong about that.

Great. Trim jail. The rest of the Strawberry Bananas, the Gelato, the entire tent grow plants, and this plant, are ALL going to finish very close to one another. I don't even know yet where I'm going to hang it all. Lol.

Here she is in the morning sun today:

3: Part of the mass of buds at the base of the main cola

I get these email alerts from the one dispensary down here I use if and when I must. The exception is occasionally if I see a strain I really like or never tried and wanted to. But those are extremely rare.

So today I find out they got a harvest in of Acupulco Gold. I have never tried it. I saw it once in my life. At a Dead show way back in the 80s. A dude had an ounce of it and it was the most exotic, beautiful thing I've ever seen. I've thought about growing it, since seeds are indeed available, but not sure I can pull off it's preferred climate. Anyway, I ain't going there now, it's only a 19% thc batch. If it were mid 20s I might give the bloodsuckers a few bucks.

CURE, weed. CURE. :laugh::laugh::laugh:

I saw Lanai and my first thought was Hawaii. Sorry if I spilled the beans.

Acapulco/Columbian gold (back then there was no way to tell the difference) was the holy grail of scores in the early '70's. In those days the vast majority of what was sold was Mexican and was chock full of stems and seeds. At least that's what was happening on the East Coast. I once scored an ounce once for $35! in 1973 and it was the best weed I ever smoked at the time by far. I was walking the streets with a feedbag of Nacho Cheese Doritos strapped to my belt. Unfortunately, it was long gone when I tried to score another and I was never able to find it again despite my best efforts. Occasionally, I would get turned on to a joint every now and then but I was never able to score it myself and the folks that had it didn't want to part with what they had. Times have changed and it's no longer the king of the castle but for nostalgia's sake it would be cool to sample and compare with what is currently available.

Cool shadow action in the background. Nice pic/trim.

NTH
Thanks. Didn't even notice that. That is kinda cool. Don't think it's POTM material quite, but not bad. Gracias.

Interesting. Yes, it seems to have disappeared. I am certain I can grow it higher than 19% though. I may try a plant sometime just for nostalgia like you say. And I bet the genetics are advanced since those decades ago versions you and I saw.

Not sure if its exactly the same or not, but @Krissi1982 is growing an Acapulco Gold now

Gotta agree, that RP looks just about ready to R.I.P.

Nice trim job, looks like glitter on her, she sparkles something crazy.
Thanks. The RP is uncanny. Last thing in the world I expected was LESS than 60 days. There's a ton of individual buds on her, but they're all relatively small, and spread out. Long internodal spacing. Again, I could have affected that, but I just let it go. Seems whenever I let any plant go with zero training, the yield is noticeably smaller than a trained plant. Even minimal training has a positive impact on yield.

Update:

Someone asked me what I meant by "productive." I was talking about how the Raspberry Parfait is not a particularly productive plant. Then I realized I could take a picture that would illustrate the difference more starkly.

Here's the Raspberry Parfait next to the Pineapple Upside Down Cake. The RP is almost 10 days ahead of the PUC in age.

One of these plants is UNproductive. One is not.

I'm sure you can figure out which is which. LOL.

Blueberry Coco Photo
Veg Day 39

I decided to do a little bit of training after all. Yesterday I topped the Blueberry. She's very top heavy. Her upper fan leaves are bigger than my hand. I wanted her to bush out some. So I topped her main cola, and also topped the six most upper branches. That ought to do it. We'll see where she's at in a week. In the meantime, I gotta go water these coco plants. Again. Lol.

She's a bit lost in the green of the garden, but here she is.

Hi Jon. It sounds like you're keeping busy on this Thursday in December. Is this plant at day 39 from when it first popped out of the soil? This is amazing growth!

Catching up a bit, but I did want to mention how great the coco plants are doing!
I gotta say, I really like this light. The plants do very well under it. They go crazy in veg and it produces dense buds in flower. The plants obviously dig the spectrum.
Just so I understand, are these the ones in the sun all day and under the Mars at night?
We did good, eh?
:high-five:
Gelato Autoflower, aka Michael
Day 78
Love the foxtails on that plant, but I'm one of those strange folks that likes foxtails!
I fu--ed it up, lol. I smoked all the flarf and several of the smaller buds already. Lol. I mean the final trimmed smaller buds that were part of the yield. A bunch of them.
LOLOL!
That's our first number of the outdoor grow....2 zips. Not a lot. But MAN is it high quality.
:bravo:
somewhere in between the thin sativa and the fat indica leaf realm, with softer points on the outside of the leaves. But clearly different from one another. This is all I can compare since they're not in the same soil or same size pots or getting the same nutes.
Thoughts?
Perfect example of phenotypes. Thanks Jon!
I don't want those goddamn eggs everyone is so psyched to see pop in Shed's (?) journal.
Har! I don't want them either, but they come with the territory.

The stuff you saw in the 80s probably maxed out below 19%, so don't let that be a deterrent!
How's my trim game?
Spot on!

Yes it is. That's coco for you. See the stem on her? All three coco plants look like this. I'm about to post REAL pictures of them. Check it out. They're incredible. Thanks to @Bill284.
