Jon's First Outdoor Grow: Sugar Breath Photoperiod & Strawberry Banana Autoflower

Afternoon Bud Shots
Outdoor Flowering Photos

The Raspberry Parfait is finishing fast and getting more exotic looking seemingly by the hour. Never had a plant accelerate into end mode this quickly. Very interesting.

The Pineapple Upside Down Cake is one I'm super excited about. My very first grow, before I found 420, I thought I was growing this strain, which is the ORIGINAL strain to be named PUC. Surfr Seeds then started selling a different hybrid and also called it PUC. When I got the dispensary eighth that held the "bagseeds" that became my first grow, it was PUC. I thought it was the Humboldt as that was the only one I was aware of. I could tell halfway through when the odor began that it was different, so I checked with the dispensary and found that they grew the Surfr version. Great, but not what I was shooting for. This is the terpene profile I get super excited about. Here's what Humboldt says about it:

This new strain from Humboldt Seed Company sets the bar high for unique terpene profiles. The product of a vast 2017 phenotype hunt in Humboldt County, Pineapple Upside Down Cake smells exactly like its name. The effect is immediately rewarding, uplifting, and spiritual. The Trainwreck sativa brings a sharp loudness and the indica balances its energetic effect. Said to lift spirits, Pineapple Upside Down Cake really takes the cake when it comes to new and exciting strains.

It's Pineapple Trainwreck x Cookie Monster, 60/40 Sativa/Indica hybrid

And if you watch the video in the seed info on their site, the dude talks about how it smells so much like pineapple upside down cake that it even has the slight cherry smell from the one little piece of fruit you find on actual pineapple upside down cake. He raves about it and gives a bunch more info on the pheno hunt.

Today is the first day I saw little cotton balls forming on the Strawberry Banana Fast Flowering plant. Today is Grow Day 50 and Flower Day 14 for her, so it took two whole weeks of stretch before seeing these emerging buds. That's longer than it took the RP and PUC to begin to show, just FYI reference point.

Here's some pretty decent bud shots. I liked these for a change. The light this time of day is good for pictures.

You're hilarious. I had to look back to see what you were talking about. Leave it to Bill to find a few rogue hairs (which actually appear to be hairs from my dog, nothing else here has white hairs like that) in otherwise gorgeous bud shots.

They are gorgeous.
I still have long hair even after the fire.
I had to go through the tent with a lint roller once a week to collect it all.
That's what happens with those great tric's of yours they are sticky A.F.
Your going to come out one morning and the puppy will stuck to one of those great ladies.

Outdoor Autoflowers
Day 38

All these girls are doing great, and all are pretty much beasts. I really hope I like Dos Si Dos. Three of these are DSD. Never smoked it or grown it before. Great plant. But the Gorilla Zkittlez is the true beast of the four. She's gigantic with big buds that are stacking sweetly. The choice of 7s for autos outside was definitely the right call. So....

1-2: Gorilla Zkittlez in 7 of Sohum
3-4: Dos Si Dos #1 in 7 of Sohum
5-6: DSD #2 in 5 of FF with Geo nutes
7-8: DSD #3 in 7 of FF with Geo nutes

Looking stellar @Jon ! That last pic though has my attention for some reason - beautiful shape to her!

Btw, I’m decarbing some ground up bud in the oven and hubby is BEGGING me to get it out - says the smell is too much for him *lol*

I'm so glad you're enjoying it. I knew you'd find a use for it. That stuff should make some strong edibles. Have fun!!!

Thanks! I like the way all three DSD's look from the top. They all trained out and stayed pretty much nice and symmetrical, unlike the Gorilla Zkittlez who just went nuts in every direction. Like I said, I hope I like Dos Si Dos. Lol.

Its in the butter now in a 185 degree hot water bath in two mason jars (using my sous vide immersion circulator to maintain the temp) … tomorrow is either cookies or brownies; havent decided which yet!

You could do an edibles report featuring your baking skills!!

Canna butter fail. I have 2z’s worth of butter soaked cannajis - but even with pressing it through a strainer with a spoon I got almost butter that’s “pourable” - let alone enough to pour into a mold. And I followed the dang directions!

I don't understand, can you post a picture?

Yeah - but you really cant see it here; its just a mass of “wet” weed (wet from the butter)

Are you saying you can't get the liquid out of the weed? I don't understand, sorry. I'm not a huge butter guy but I've made it and never had that issue. I even made some with some ground up weed that was, say, EXACTLY like what you have, and I had no issues. Hmm....sorry kid, can't help. Not experienced enough by a mile in that realm.

All I do is decarb it, put it in a crock pot on low with butter and a little water, and stir for 8 hours. Drain and strain into a bowl, toss it in the fridge. Pull butter off the top in the morning. It's super easy and works great.

Yup - its like the weed completely ABSORBED the butter! There is nothing TO stir! I read that if I did this in Mason jars I wouldnt need to add water.

I used the mason jars and my sous vide because I dont trust the temp on my slow cooker … with the immersion circulation I was able to keep the water around the mason jars at exactly 185 degrees for the requisite 4 hours.

Gotcha. Well I don't know what to tell you. I'd try taking the wet weed and adding more butter and water and see if the increase in volume helps. That said, it would dilute your butter. So I don't know. I didn't have that happen using the same exact stuff. Also not sure there's such a thing as a "requisite" 4 hours. Unless you mean "at least" four hours. Like I said, I go 8 on low on a standard Crock Pot.

Yup - “at least” - I read 4 hours for decarbed and 8 hours for non-decarbed.

Hmm...I thought it wouldn't work right without the decarb step. I gotta check that out. It's so easy though, why not just decarb.
