Jon's Final Florida Journal For Real

Whoa. @NickHardy tosses the gauntlet at my feet after slapping me with it. Touché Nick, I like it. Lol. And I’m a gullible mofo. I thought you were serious about moving.

Compete. Lmao. Damn, you really are a gamer aren’t you?

So…for real, you have CO2 and major infrastructure and tons of big and high end equipment and basically all the space in the world. You’ve been growing way longer than I have. You seem to have unlimited financial flexibility if you need something mid grow. You sell weed for a living at least in part. How exactly am I to compete with that? Not exactly an even playing field. Once I’m in Pa I can come closer on space, kind of (not really). Still won’t have CO2. Or all your bells and whistles. Or your finances. Or your experience level.

That’s the downside. Heh. Now the upside.

I don’t need any bells and whistles to compete with you, my friend.

HA. You hit me in my ego bone.

Once I hit PA things get real. Realer for me anyway. Everything’s relative, lol. But I’ve had enough of this bullshit, piddling little one car garage space that requires daily gymnastics to grow half decent weed in. 3 years of banging my head against the wall is enough. People think I overkill the stupid light blocking - but most of them haven’t had a 2x4 of autos on 20/4 with lights shining directly on a tent of photos in flower at 12/12 in the same garage using two AC units in Florida weather either. Try it. Bring home both tents and all the plants healthy and make good weed. Don’t let the photos hermie. Then talk to me.

My first grow back will be my final coco/chem nutes grow before I go organic. That will give my newly made LOS time to percolate. Since I’ve loved coco so much and it really will be my last full coco/nutes grow (I’ll continue to grow autos this way, but far fewer), I intend to go off. My farewell tribute to growing in coco full time. Big plants in big pots. Photos mostly. Various sponsored participation from some of our cool sponsors. Growing out the maiden offering from Dirty Bird Genetics and hopefully an epic Super Silver Haze (Arjan’s version), NASC sponsored. (Dirty Bird is NASC’s own seed line - they are breeders now too!) A new light that is still unopened in the box. Another that’s only been used for one grow. New tents galore. Six tents total with 3 5x5s. Coco top/water bottom plants. I intend it to be a full time job.

It will be the first time you will have seen me put everything I have into a coco/chem grow. All this other bullshit you’ve seen has been warm up.

So…sure my man. What do you got?

Btw - what is my damn clone’s name again please? Lmao. Sorry about that one buddy. I felt the gnawing in my head as I was writing the post. Just too busy (read: lazy) to go leafing back page by page reading my own tedious crap just to find it.

Yo, Jonno!

I hope my GOTY post wasn't too.... aggressive. It's how I feel. I had just finished your Wheelchair Chrair Grow Strategies and tactics thread, you know, the one for fellow wheelchair growers when I was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. (out of left field - Mid-September).

I quickly decided that because I had full jars, and haven't been using too much weed, that I would merely cut everything down, everything, from seedlings to my first full-size, organic-only plant in my custom Super-Castings, and the perfectly vegged-out two further indicas in a second SIP.

But you know, I suddenly began getting awesome help with my symptoms, far, far, far better with weed than all the other meds supposed to help with that. So I asked my doctor to prescribe those drugs only on an As Needed basis now, and to 'please support both my cannabis use and psychedelics, which includes providing me safe spaces for my psychonat needs AND IMMEDIATE PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT IF NEEDED. It'd be nice also to have a tripsitter, and I can provide my own I believe.

I'm hoping this experience, were I to do it very successfully, will have a tangible effect on what patients that come after me in that similar scenario; same ward, same Nurses, Doctors, Specialist/Surgeons, receive. Maybe I could help start the revolution.

But that's gonna mean doing this perfect the whole way. Always the right attitude, never getting personal or even angry, not easy to eradicate 100% during cancer, cancer treatment, but I'm gonna give it a college try.

"Smurfette" (Given there was only one (obvious) female Smurf), I think her name ought to suffice.
I found all the Smurfs to be a little on the androgynous side. And how come they were all the same shade of blue? Wouldn’t there be genetic variation and a variety of shades? Also, their hands didn’t look a whole lot of effectively prehensile. Not sure how these guys survived as long as they did. But at least their soft bodies explain why we haven’t found any in the fossil record.

Wow @ReservoirDog! Thank you so much for sharing with us such personal stuff. You’re a stud. Your post was fine, just surprised me a little and you give me too much credit. I appreciated it on a very deep level. It made me feel like I helped someone with something of value. Thanks for that. You know it wasn’t me, right? You know you did this and made these decisions on your own? I don’t want any credit for your journey but if I helped in some small way then great. I’m impressed beyond words. Your attitude is amazing and exemplary and way inspirational. It’s funny because I went through something reasonably akin in the year after my accident. That was when I dealt mostly with losing my legs and the realities of that. You gotta get over (well, I had to…) all the trying so hard to blame anybody - god, the universe, the mailman, the ladder, karma, etc. You gotta climb out of the well of self pity. You MOST DEFINITELY have to drop the anger. All that to start. It ain’t easy. Imo, it was the most difficult year of my life by far. And similarly, I’m certain it wasn’t easy for you, whatever your personal incantations of this were. It didn’t take one day I know that much.

Much respect man.

It would add value to that wheelchair thread if you’d ever like to share any parts of your journey there too. You point out an extremely important thing that definitely applies to growing - ATTITUDE. It’s vital to have the right one and maintain it. Hard to do when you’re holding your urinal in a crowd and trying to hide the fact that you’re pissing cuz if you don’t right now you’ll pee your pants. I had to relearn the bass entirely after my accident, and for a while I didn’t even want to touch it. Not until I got my attitude together did I get back to it. Lose our positivity and we go down, that’s my opinion. You seem to grasp that concept fullly.

The simplest way I can put it is this: you have to make the decision - do you want to live or do you want to die? If you decide you want to live, then do it all the way.

I want to live. And grow. And in that regard, it’s not hyperbole to say that growing is life.

Thank you ReservoirDog.

Last night I found this in allbud:

Sour Lifesaver Marijuana

Indica Dominant Hybrid Strain
Indica Dominant Hybrid 60% Indica / 40% Sativa

THC: 15% - 18%

Sour Lifesaver is a slightly indica dominant hybrid strain (60% indica/40% sativa) created through crossing the classic Lifesaver X Sour Bubble BX3 strains. If you're a fan of the sour Lifesaver candy, you're going to absolutely be head over heels for Sour Lifesaver. This delicious bud packs a super sour fruity berry flavor with a sweet cherry exhale. The aroma takes a spicier turn, with hints of herbs and earth throughout. The Sour Lifesaver high isn't quite as bright as the flavor, with relaxing effects that are best-suited for a lazy night at home rather than a night out on the town. You'll feel a lightly lifted onset settle in a few minutes after your final toke, filling you with a happy euphoria and a touch of focus. This focus will quickly fade, leaving you head blissfully hazy as your body begins to settle into a heavily sedative couch-locked state, often ending in a long and peaceful sleep. With these effects and its high 15-18% average THC level, Sour Lifesaver is said to be perfect for treating appetite loss or nausea, insomnia, chronic pain, chronic stress or anxiety, seizures and chronic fatigue. This bud has small super dense fluffy minty green popcorn-shaped nugs with thin orange hairs and a coating of frosty tiny white crystal trichomes.

?

So I immediately called Yoda and said I thought you said you made this, how is what you gave me any different than this? And what are you doing sending me an 18% thc clone? Lol.

Fortunately he had a great answer. The strain above is made from Lifesaver male and a Sour Bubble female. His is made from a Lifesaver female and a Sour Bubble male. Then he grew the hybrid out to identify the best phenotypes and went from there. Officially he says he’s been mislabeling it, and it should read:

Lifesaver (blue/paperless pheno) x Sour Bubble Bx3 male.

Idk what a paperless pheno is, waiting on that answer. But he says he worked on it until he was able to get higher thc phenos and several that hadn’t been identified. And apparently switching the parents male/female makes a difference in some fashion too. Anyway, I don’t understand it all, but he says it’s different enough that it can be considered a new hybrid. So maybe he’s tooting his own horn a bit? Idk. But whatever the case, I love my plant and Im 100% sure she’ll get me plenty high. Lol. I felt I’d be being remiss if I didn’t share.

Strawberry Gorilla

Is this the very first sign of some color beginning to roll in already?

Also, check out the leaf frost. The fans are getting as frosty as the sugars!

Blackberry Moonrocks

I’m getting excited about this girl. I love the self made canopy she’s got and her emerald green color. Her structure is pretty cool too. She is much more side branchy than she appears. I have chopped them, you can see the nubs in the stems. She’s getting ready to flip. Check out the extent to which I have cleaned this one out all the way to the present colas almost. Long, straight branches with no bends. Whose plant is this again? Lmao. With a few more days of growth plus the stretch and with continuing to chop all side branching, every top should become quite significant. In the side by side picture you see her size relative to the SG. She is likely to at least match her in the stretch.

Idk what a paperless pheno is,
Likely how he literally physically labelled it - probably a coloured cable tie or whatever and didn’t document it.

😆 the romance.

There is an interesting article in another online/physical weed magazine this month. They got people high on high and low THC weed and scanned their brains for an hour after. Higher THC isn’t apparently the mai driver. Throw in some CBD, CBA or CBG as well and it gets you way more mashed in terms of the brain wave activity. Its an interesting fairly scientific test they did. Our Kali Mist is only 12.5% but has 2.5% CBG and 0.8% CBD. Its mad strong on body and brain

Interesting. I know it’s not all about thc level. Plenty of lower thc weed gets me high. But for my personal grows I prefer to grow high thc strains. Better for pain. CBD does zero for my pain interestingly enough.

Interesting. Just took Brix reading on the Strawberry Gorilla. She’s arguably my healthiest looking plant. Five days ago her Brix was 12.3. It’s only 12.5 now. Hey @Gee64, I’m getting a rise during flower but as you see it’s slow. I know it’s a chem plant but Brix is Brix, right? Is this a slow climb? How fast does Brix rise during flower?

This Cherry Pie has just surpassed my personal auto record for number of days before showing budlets. If @con was correct in his counting, which I’m sure he was, then today is day 49 for this plant.

49 days and nary a budlet yet. Meanwhile she keeps growing and I keep spreading her. Jeez. I’m so in love. This is an auto dream extreme. I don’t veg my photos this long in coco most of the time! And so we have the giant, thick stem and giant, thick branches, we have classic gigantic auto structure, and we have at least 50 days in veg and stretch time before budlets.

No doubt about it. This plant unfettered will be an XXL level auto. Gigantic. I’ll grow one out big on the last coco grow in Pa. She may be bigger than the Watermelon Wedding Cake. Maybe I’ll run both side by side.

Here’s what I mean:

I’ll do my brix readings tomorrow. Just never got round to it.

The Machine is giving me a beady eye!

Digital. These manual reader guys seem to love theirs, but for me it was a no doubter. I had to go digi.

Was the line on your refractometer crisp or fuzzy? A crisp line means calcium is low.

Brix is a mix of calcium, phosphorus, oxygen, carbon, microbes/fungii and adequate light to drive it all.

Calcium needs to be proper 1st. Then the others.

Also too much nitrogen will lower brix.

If the calcium line was fuzzy then O2 is likely good, so phos, carbon, and microbes should be looked at next. And of course, not too much nitrogen.

The reason brix climbs in flower is a 2 part story, and neither has to do with flowering.

Most uppot at flower into full strength soil so cal and phos get increased. I sprout in my final mix and get my brix up in veg so going into flower I see no change.

Part 2 is going into flower soil they drastically reduce nitrogen input, which again raises brix.
