Jon's Final Florida Journal For Real

Hola!

Clone’s still spinning, good, good!

Nick
Hey @NickHardy - how you be? I checked out your massive garden this morning - it had been maybe ten days or so since I was at your place, and HOLY CRAP what the hell happened? Something exploded! Amazing. Makes my little 5x5 grow seem so piddling. Lol.

Wait til you get a load of my new space. And guess what? I successfully lobbied for and am getting my heated garage!!!!! Kind of key growing indoors in a garage in the winter in PA. Without heat that garage would get way cold. I get to work directly with the contractor on placement and all that good stuff. I’m also getting my additional 100 amps dedicated to just the garage, split between 5 20-amp GFI’s, which gives me 8 total individual circuited outlets, 5 20-amp and 3 15-amp. I can run an entire tent from one 20 amp circuit. A 15 not so much. So that gives me the circuitry I need to run six tents.

Can’t wait!!!

I’m gonna take Brix readings on the three Geo girls and the Strawberry Gorilla this afternoon after they’re all up and humming. It’s such a great way to gauge the health of your plants. Got my IR thermometer last night too. Heh.

What are you running that 15amp struggles ?

Might as well add one more little one as a clone tent and start keeping a few photoperiods around like that one from your Yoda.
Yep. There’s a mother plant in my future. As soon as I find the strain I want to grow again and again. I need a third 5x5 light. Not sure the NextLight Mega Pro is gonna do it. It’s only 540 watts and it’s not a bar light but a huge panel, like the 420h. I got it cuz they were going out of business and having clearance sales all over the place, so for $400 I thought it was worth it. I guess it’ll be okay if I treat the tent like a 4 x 4. 6” a side is all that takes in terms of staying away. I love the spectrum that NextLight uses so much. So I’ll use the G8 C3 for one 5x5, the Mars Hydro FC-E6500 in another, and unless I snag a light, the Mega Pro in the third. That leaves me the VS KS 3000 for one 3x3, and the 420h for the other 3x3 (try a light that’s too big for the tent by a little bit sometime, it’s awesome, heh….). And of course the VS XS 1500 Pros in the 2x4. I also have a Maxsisun PB 4000, which is a 400 watt static panel light that’s surprisingly good. Might use that for my one auto house plant. I gotta have a plant growing in the actual space I live in. The bedroom closet grow is awesome.

AC units plus fans plus a 680 watt light that’s partially blocked = occasional fuse blows on the 15s. Probably wouldn’t in a house that was competently wired, but this is a G&L Homes house. The worst builders of gated communities in Florida. These idiots screw towel rods and toilet paper holders into plain drywall. That’s the smallest example of their incompetence.

Plus, 20-amp GFIs give me peace of mind. I prefer to have lots of headroom, right?

Yep fair enough ,hopefully you don't blow the supply/service fuse 🤣

@Absorber - check it out - these morons wired this house so weird. Makes no sense. For example, my bathroom outlets are GFI outlets. But GFI plate with the buttons that is connected to them is all the way in the kitchen at the other end of the house. First time I blew that fuse it took me forever to find out how to fix the damn thing. Ridiculous.

Also I I won’t need the AC units nearly as much if at all in PA except maybe a couple months in the summer. But I also have 4.5 secluded acres to play with there. I have an outdoor monster in my future. Heh.

There are some GFI PowerPoint's that when you loop the other power points off that one they are also protected but if it trips you need to be aware of where the PowerPoint is to reset it .
They tend to be used as a quick renovation fix , better to have the GFI breakers fitted in the switchboard protecting every part of the circuit ,weather you accidentally put a screw through a wire behind dry wall or use a faulty appliance or tool it will trip.👍

If you do, be prepared to feel completely out of water. It’s exciting and you learn tons. But what I’m learning is that much of what I thought I knew is simply not true.
That may not actually be true Jon, there are differences between synthetics and organics is all, plus I know nothing about autos, so Im sure there are differences there too. Don't sell yourself short, there may be a word of wisdom or 2 lurking beneath your surface😈

yes Gee has a great technical & natural way of doing things a good read but a bit out of my league for now
@con we all start at the beginning. No such thing as a dumb question. Theres a lot of organacists hanging out there so if you ever have a question or something doesn't compute, stop us immediately and ask.

Most good growers are in the VPD zone without realizing it. I think you will be good Jon😎
I figured it out!!! Check it out @Gee64 - so lights out is no problem. Perfect environment. But I really do not want to flower at 85 degrees. So by relocating a fan to get the cooler air up towards the canopy, I have the zone I want - mid 70s and 50-something % RH. And by adjusting the degree to which the tent doors are opened, and HOW they’re opened (just the top? Just the bottom?), I can maintain that during the entirety of day hours. I’m so damn psyched. Would’ve been okay to flower at 85 but I feel (without having the science to back it up) that would’ve compromised the plants respiration to some extent, no?

Sounds like you need a couple of the 3d printed dampeners on my 3d printed grow journal it would open and close tent on demand

If you can control temperature via air movement, thats always the best way. I have successfully flowered at 72F and at 90F. VPD will show you how to make adjustments. But as for today, thats awesome! Make it fit your system👍👊. Thats good knowledge you just laid on us🙏

I appreciate that @Gee64. Just so you know - I do not lack confidence, nor do I think in reality that I know nothing. It’s just a way to say how new and different the organic world is. But you don’t know me that well just yet. I will crush organics. I crush anything I set my mind to crushing. Anything. Since I was 10. I certainly have my share of justified ego. But I also know when to rein it in. This is 420. I do not stand with the finest growers on this site yet. The best growers here are the best home growers in the world in my opinion. You seen any other forums? I have. It’s embarrassing. Lmao!!! Just kidding, and no offense to any other site. But there’s really no comparison. This is the place to be if you really want to learn how to grow. That’s just reality and knowing where you are with no ego. I would use the term “intermediate” to describe my level, maybe. But never for a second do I doubt my ability to pick anything up and make it mine. It’s entirely and only a function of time and commitment.

Heh. Guess I went off a little there.
