Joe's Grows

Yeah hopefully it doesn't spread. Don't really want a repeat of last year.
I could do with some sativa genetics about now lol.
I believe hydrogen peroxide may be helpful against budrot. I'll have to look into it.
Shame about the humidity issues, you'd think/hope that there has to be something you can do about it, yeah haha but what? Are sativas known to be less budrot prone?

I believe sativa's can handle higher humidity because of the structure of the buds, being more open and airy than indica buds.

Unfortunately I don't know anyone that has an industrial dehumidifier grunty enough to dry out the outdoor environment...so I'm just going to have to wait for mother nature to clear things up.
In the meantime, it'll be daily inspections for the girls.

The weather has been better the last couple of days, fingers crossed it stays that way.
I gave the outdoor girls a top-dressing with a mix of about a gallon of soil, 3 cups of the 2-8-4 and 2 cups of 4-4-4 between all 3 of them. They also got another drink of fish juice 🤢

Hi Joe :)

Beautiful growing as always :)

Can I print one of those bees and put it in my Bloom Room?
Of course you can, in fact I'd be honoured if you did. I thought of you when I saw the bee, so consider it yours.
I thought queen bee was the best one...

Hello.
... If you have a lot of moisture problems (apart from choosing sativa genetics) the yucca product you added at the beginning may retain a lot of extra water in the substrate... Perhaps it would be better if you added products that drain rather than retain, such as sand river (?).... Good luck with the harvest, and better health with which to enjoy it.

Hey Cide, thanks for stopping by.
The weather's been dryer the last couple days so hopefully the worst is over and the rest of the season is free from excess moisture. It's just been a really wet spring this year.
It makes sense that the yucca helps with water uptake when the soil is dry, but I only add it once in a while. The soil has lots of pumice for aeration so it should be alright.
Thanks for the luck and the good wishes.

Consider it done.

I’ll show you once it’s developed and framed :)

The outdoor girls are drinking more now since it stopped raining all the time. We've had a few hot days and some overcast days, with a bit of wind to dry things out. Fingers crossed for low humidity from now on. After inspecting the girls for budrot and finding none, I feel more confident that we've nipped the problem in the bud, literally.
The recent topdressing has started to work it's way into the system and the plants look greener and healthier. I'm pretty happy with the herbi nz stuff I'm using.
You can see where I supercropped certain branches, those ones are definitely fatter, stronger, thicker. The stalk as well as the overall size of the buds is very noticeable, compared to the branches I didn't supercrop.

Unfortunately Big Swiss won't be able to reach her full potential due to the issues I'm having with the power supply (more upgrades coming in the future), but on the upside she'll definitely produce plenty of small buds for edibles etc. Once I get the parts I need for my solar system, I'll be back to normal. For now I'll just have to limp her along to the end.
I noticed a few leaves are looking a bit brown and crispy around the edge, it could be because there was a few days she only had ambient light from the window and was extra sensitive to the light when I finally got it going again. I say that because the leaves most affected are the ones where the light is directly overhead. I don't think it's the light intensity because it's turned right down to its lowest setting at the moment.

So I found a couple more patches of budrot, but this time instead of removing the rot, I sprayed it with a mix of 6% H2O2 and water, made up of about 30% H2O2 and 70% water. Probably not quite that accurate, it was more like one splash H2O2 and two splashes water lol.
It's a bit of an experiment, we'll see if it works on the budrot. If not I'll try a stronger brew, if that doesn't work I'll just have to chop some more...
