Jandre2k3's Cardboard Flower Box - Test 4: ScrOG

Well thank you Chronic for noticing I posted something!
Very nice to be able to stop by for a few days while I have a little time. Hope things are going well for you.

Hey, now I noticed as well... (passive aggressive much?)

I just haven't had a whole lot of time so I didn't go check it out yet... now that I have, that's some pretty nice oil ya got there. really high CBD-A . . . should get some medicinal takers on that one.

I'm only passive aggressive with those I love Jandre! :circle-of-love:
I have donated a lot of that med to medical patients and I have gotten back positive and great reviews.

I tend to be a troublemaker sometimes so to keep myself on the good behavior list I stay away. I still pop on to read but post very little anymore. Besides with the big grows I have, my full time job and the fact my wife are both sick I tend to stay away at this time. Continual pain can cause people to act in ways they don't normally do.

"...and the fact my wife are both sick..." Both of them? I didn't know you had two!

great project, excellent work on your vivarium!
Hey! Thanks for that! And thanks for the rep! :cheesygrinsmiley:

your vacation sounds divine i wish i could still hold up to camping but climbing in and out of tents & air mattresses are out for my foreseeable future, so thanks for the mental imagery :thumb:
Words into pictures. My mother would be proud to hear that. Mental imagery, sometimes is all we have, so I try to make it as "colorful" as possible, whenever I can.

With my migraines, it's not good for me to bend over when one hits, or I fall on my face. My tent is more like a pop-up house, really, so no stooping to crawl inside. It's more like unzipping curtains and moving them aside to gain entry to the gear storage area, the roof of which barely touches my hair standing straight up... and I'm over 6 feet tall. Through the next zippered door, I can stand in the "sleeping" area and still have to reach above my head to touch the no-see-um. You could actually put 4 full sized army cots in there and still walk around them- not the little ones, I'm talking the ones just a tad smaller than a queen size mattress.

Unless it's raining and the rain fly is on, you're treated by an unimpeded view of the dance of the constellations as they slowly roll by. All the windows zip completely down to allow full flow of air on a nice breezy night, letting the sweet pine scent from the forest waft over you as you sleep.

Hey, I still have my bivouac, for the pack-in trips, but those don't happen much anymore. Inside this tent, it's hard to remember that there's no running water, or electricity, or that you have to walk about 100 yards to the latrine. Hey, at least there's a latrine! I'm kinda over burying my excretions.

looking good as usual i cant wait to see the end product:thumb:
Well, stay around! It ain't over, ever! I can't NOT grow something!

5" and7nodes wow! I sure hope she is a girl too. could be a monster:)

Fair enough. Glad to hear it's mostly just RL keeping you busy. Nice to see you pop in when you do :)

 :biglaugh:

You're never going to believe this, but this plant is 7 nodes tall.

Proof, you say?

And that's only 5" tall. I'm so badly hoping that this one is female.

That's awesome! I hope she is female too. If she smokes nice, might be a great mother.

Plants seem to be doing really well under the two 24w HO T5's and the 400w HPS. So I lowered them by 4" which is 6" above the screen, and about 10" above the tops. I'm going to top them as they start to get close to the screen so they'll start to branch out for me. That'll make it easier to weave them through the netting above if I don't have a bunch of random stems below.

These were germinated on 03/05/2013, and I have yet to see any signs of sex since they started their vegetative growth on 03/19/2013. As such, I will continue to treat all of them as if they are all female, until they tell me otherwise. I have done some culling already to remove under-performers, and to keep things opened up for those that will be staying until I find the two that will stay in this box, and 1 male to flower and harvest pollen. I will do an F2 of these from that male on some select buds above the screen.

As we will soon be past one month, all lights have been reduced to GLR, down from 12/12 on the HPS and 24/0 on the HO T5's. In another 2 weeks, I will be switching out the 5600K tubes for UVA/UVB tubes. I am already seeing new growth with 9-blade fans, so they should be well and healthy enough to handle the increased UV intensity by then. I will also drop the HO T5 UV's to touch the screen- mere inches from the tops and run them on GLR as well, coordinated with the HPS. The extra UV should increase photosynthesis, and with that, the carbohydrate production should increase. Extra carbs means faster, heavier plants, able to withstand the bending they will start to endure as they reach the screen. Of course, at that point, I will also begin to raise the UV's so as not to scorch the tops as they poke through the screen.

As always if anyone sees something sketchy, please stop me and tell me why I shouldn't do whatever it is that I'm about to screw up...

Until next time, my 420 family- Be well.

this grow is lookin good so far! i have a question i am a first time soil-less grower and just wondering how to flush my plants/containers. I know that i have to run plain ph'd water though them, but do i need to keep the container filled with the plain pH water for a few days so the plant can uptake it, or do i literly just need to flush out the media and refil with nutrient water. any help would be great, thanks!

again your grow looks great, cant wait to see that plant auditorium (or w.e lol) in action!

Excellent question, and thank you for asking it in this thread. +rep!

My answer will be a two-part answer so as to be as thorough as possible

For just a bi-weekly flush, to keep salts from building up in your media, you would simply need to pour three times the volume of your medium in water through, and let it drain into your catchment. Just let it run out and throw it away. I like to toss it out onto the grass in the back yard. there is no need to pH the water when doing this.

Now, if it is your "final flush", just before harvest there is a different procedure. The extra nutrients that plants receive in a hydroponic growing style is much greater than that when growing in soil. Simply because there is no soil, we must bathe the roots in nutrients. This causes a bitter taste if it is not flushed out of the plant prior to cutting it down. First, flush the medium as above. After that, refill your reservoir with water. This is where you will want to pH the water. Any small amount of nutes left in the medium will be dissolved in the pH'd water and made available for uptake. This "final flush" water will need to be changed out every one to three days, depending on the water color when checking pH. When it is finally clear, it is safe to go for three days before changing it out. If it is anything other than clear, toss it after one day. This should all be started about TWO WEEKS before harvest, to remove any built-up nutrients around the roots, in the plants, and in the medium, and flush it away, so as to remove any off flavors from the finished medicine. At the end, there should be nothing but water in flowers going up to hang and dry.

good weed to you Jandre:)
have you grown a pure sativa that has no amber trichs? or if so was it a long time coming?
my 2046 seems to be all cloudy and has been. but there is no amber yet. so just curious if you have dabbled with something like that before?

Very thorough answer, thank you for that, i am going to permalink this post so i can refer back to in when i am almost ready to harvest

YES!! Lamb's Bread seemed to hang in cloudy for what seemed like an eternity. I finally harvested when I saw 1 singular amber trich. It stayed in cloudy stage for over two weeks, almost three. That, in my book, is a very long time. Once I saw some amber, though, it seemed to all turn at once.

I glad I could help :thumb: Feel free to ask any questions like this at any time. And thanks for the rep!
