Is This Your Homework Larry? Seedsman Skunk #1 In Soil

Hahaha ok settle down! To copy me, all you need is a tight space, hot lights, coco and a small amount of synthetic nutes daily :D

Seriously though I’m going to try an organic grow next;) I want to see the difference and try to gain more skill.

I recently done exactly that and right up until I put the plants in the coco I was stressing a bit. I like coco more and the nutes are so much less in quantity. I moved over to the GH Trio with CalMag. Not difficult at all, but maybe somewhat intimidating at first. Organic soil... sounds like an amalgam!

Ok now I’m concerned.

Now my Crown Royale is acting up. I just fed them some remo cal mag yesterday or day before. Perhaps my battle with fungus gnats is taking its toll on the balance in my soil. H2O2 drenches, diatomaceous earth dusting, on top of the teas or feeds.

I have been thinking of hyenamerica’s set up a lot lately. Simple, effective, and low maintenance. I was hoping my soil was going to be similar.

I really gotta stop getting so high and posting.

I have been concerned the soil bins may be collecting water in the bottom. Credit to Rooster, for stepping in and helping to shake the cobwebs outta my head.

Drilled some holes on the bottom of the bins, just a few for now. After checking the soil from the drill bit it was dry. So it’s possible I have been underwatering since they got bigger.

I fed them each twice the water I have been. Ph’d to 6.3. Noticed this morning a bit of water drained out so I at least know they are getting more.

I think we are recovering but. I know this, the large bin experiment is over.

Here is the skunk, up through the net now at its highest height, it’s been tucked back under the net where possible.

I think the spots from the last photo are burns from water on the plant and the lights being on.

I've had to switch over to my vape pen for most of the day vs. Bong Rips. My lungs are letting me know these days... Plus i'm more functional.

"Fuck! I need a joint..."
I noticed my lungs don’t appreciate the bong rips. I definitely get an intense high from it, but I am an old school joint smoker. So 90% of the time I roll up a doobie versus anything else.

My Mighty Vape died for some reason so.

I went and picked up some sand, best I could find was some patio stone base, it’s clean and somewhat relatively sized. Should do the trick to clean up my gnat issue. It’s a minor one but not something I want while flowering. I will do another small H2O2 soil drench in a few days. That should end it. However the new holes I drilled into the sides and bottoms will allow access. I might cover the holes with something. Like a plug of foam or sponge.

Plants are picking up after the continuous abuse. Even have the clover making a move up.

Another two weeks, if the skunk picks up, and the gnats are knocked stupid...then we need to flip. Gonna be cutting it close on my stash levels.

I also turned on my extraction fan full time to help lower the temps and tacoing, but my Rh will drop a bit.

looking good urb I hate the gnats that sand should work just make sure you have it snug up against the edge of the pot and tight around the stalk those little ffss will get in if you give them a chance in my gr they are on the floor and underneath the plant saucers the humidifier everything that's on the floor so I pick it up and spray captain jack on the floor and the lower walls of the tent that will get rid of a lot of them good luck bud!

Thanks, good ideas, I noticed them under my humidifier and trays too. Bastards. I have some safers soap I will spray down those areas.

I also have the H2O2 drench, hanging sticky traps, Neem Meal, neem oil, and diatomaceous earth. So we shall be victorious.

That’s the tricky thing with organic living soil, you try to grow as much life as you can, just not these lives lol. But I can’t help to wonder if you couldn’t just introduce a predator to balance them out. Not entirely kill them, but enough to where both predator and prey live in symbiosis. The gnat larvae might feed on the fine roots a bit, but not enough to harm growth, and may in fact trigger new root growth. Just thinking out high.

ive heard of people getting those scan mask nematodes they eat the larvae I looked at them didn't want to spend the money but im sure they work!

WOW herb, I mean Urb!!! Those two are huge. How old are those two?
lol the Crown Royale is pretty big. Seeds cracked on Nov 15th ish. But got their first leaves around Nov 28th I think.

So around 2 and a half months.

Ok the layer of sand is kicking ass. But the battle with the gnats has taken its toll on the soil. So I brewed up a tea. A bit of boogie brew pt. A and a bit of B, some kelp meal, insect frass, and after 24 hours some lactobacillus and molasses.

Got nice and frothy. I added that gallon or so to another 3 gallons of water and kept it bubbling while I added a healthy dose of the remo calmag, then ph the whole lot to 6.5. I would say 4 or 5 gallons of tea.

Then I slow fed them. About 1 litre at a time. About 20 litres in 5 gallons of water. This should kick them back into gear.

After that they got tucked back under the net. Another day down.
