InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

@smokesbetter ...There is this one dude that grew fast buds PE.....

Cannasavvy is a she, and a professional canna-chef. Probably why she never has a chance to be on the site any more. But she left us with some amazing creations. Like this or this.

Not sure if you've been there or not, but Preston has a great cooking thread!
Thank You for sharing that I didn't know Preston did edibles. I am trying to learn how to make more things then just butter so that is helpful Thanks Shed

I haven't tried Coconut oil I have only done butter and used that to make brownies or use the butter to spread on crackers It gives me a good buzz but I am looking for other recipes and how to make gel caps to take. I was going to use trimmings for a topical. Would coconut oil work for topicals or should I use something else for topicals

:nerd-with-glasses: :thumb:
I took mine at day 71 and it was about 2 weeks early I reckon (had to cut early ‘cause of the root aphids!). I now realise that the root aphid effect Amy have already been happening then (the curl - without any other indication of nute toxicity). That suggests that the size of it (small) was possibly partly to do with them as well.
Here it is at day 41 (close to day 45!).

Coconut oil doesn't work for topicals at all as it doesn't get absorbed the way pumpkin seed and grapeseed oil do. You would have most of the THC sitting on top of your skin with coconut oil. For capsules, EVOO is much easier to deal with as it's liquid at room temps and doesn't spoil out of the fridge. Coconut oil will get you high faster though, if that's a consideration. You would need to make your caps with warmed oil to get it to flow and store them in the fridge when you're done.
Hi Shed! The first plant I grew this spring was an aha. It began flowering day 40 but I cut it too early  at 87 days. My second aha was a balcony grow this summer, it flowered day 43 and chopped day 100.
Thanks Hutch! All y'all with your 40+ day veg :).

Do you remember when yours showed pistils? Because mine looks pretty close to your pic now, maybe a bit further along.

I have some coconut oil that is liquid at room temp. Was planning on mixing with EVOO and lecithin when the time comes.

There is fractionated coconut oil that is liquid at room temps, so there might be others as well. The regular stuff I see is always semi-solid at room temps though (cold pressed virgin or something like that).

What were you looking to get by mixing that and the EVOO together?

Excellent question. The not so excellent answer is that it just seemed like a good idea. I really haven't studied it as much as I'd like. I am open to hearing both the pros and cons of such a strategy.

P.S. It's my understanding that both coconut and EVOO are quite good as carrier oils. Both are long-lasting and have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. MCT's may absorb a little faster. Other than that I got nothin'. :)

That is the basics, but it's the conversion of THC into delta-9 or 11-hydroxy that could be important.

Much of it depends on the end use of the mix. If we're talking about edibles (rather than topicals, neither of which oils are particularly good for), then you should keep in mind that medical uses of THC are best infused in EVOO, as it is not instantly converted to the type of THC that gets you high. EVOO is not processed first-pass by the liver as coconut oil is (at least not regular coconut oil...not sure what they do to make it liquid at room temps).

So folks who want to get stoned infuse coconut oil, and folks who don't want the quick high/fast metabolism of THC will go with EVOO.

I can get you further into the weeds ( ;) ) but let me leave it there for your reply.

Soooo....for medicinal use without a high (or as intense and fast if there is one) use EVOO (maybe for the kid) and for getting a more intense and faster high (or maybe getting one at all) use coconut oil (if I'm making for Tangled to get more effect out of it).

I like the simplicity of your explanation, but I'm happy getting into the weeds. :D

There is one advantage medically with the mixture in that it would work faster and still last a while. Not sure if it would be a best of both worlds (shout out to Van Hagar) scenario of working fast without too much unwanted effect or not. Hmmm...

If you make caps, don’t make the oil to warm Or the (veg) caps will melt. I found that out the hard way :battingeyelashes:

I have gelatin caps but the same principle applies. Have to let it cool completely.

Most recently I took a dispensary bought tincture and mixed to dose with EVOO and coconut oil. It's been a few weeks and they seem to be holding well.
