Yesterday (Saturday) was cannabis day all the way. I chopped, washed, rinsed, trimmed, and hung Blue 4 and AK 7 (other journal); planted Sour G photo; and started the topical oil process (other journal...still cooking).
Here's the update!
I woke up yesterday morning and found this:
Growing out of this:
Which meant it was transplant day on top of harvest and oil day!
I don't have any clear Solo cups, so I took an idea from Flytier and modded a Solo cup with holes and screening! I cut four rectangular holes at the bottom sides of the cup and put window screen in it. This way I'll know when the roots make it down to the bottom and there will be good drainage as well.
Here is everything getting ready for the planting:
I snipped the mesh on the peat pot so I could peel it away before putting it into the soil, as I have seen pics of roots that never manage to break through. Like I always do, I slowly slid the mesh over the tap root at the bottom.
But things went sideways at that point and the end of the tap root did not do the slide thing and decided to break off instead!
Not to be dissuaded I planted it anyway to see what would happen. If it lived, it would have 6 months of veg to develop a healthy root system in spite of this early mishap. If not there are other seeds waiting to take its place. I know that Rooster has recommended rock wool over peat and this is
yet another reason why it's better! Since I have peat pucks, in the future I will cut the bottom open before I put the seed in
.
Here is Sour G planted on day 3:
It was sunny and warm yesterday and I had to keep rotating the cup to keep it growing straight since the sun is low in the sky, and then it went into the now-spacious
oval of brightness® for the night with the clones:
This morning on day 4 it looked fine so it's back out in the sun and I've been rotating it every hour or so.
And just so Sour G doesn't steal the limelight, here is Gold Leaf:
Here is AK-47. The wood ash hasn't done any damage yet but what I'll do before I water with regular nutes is scrape the top layer of soil off to remove any remaining ash.
If you have time or interest, check out the harvest and topical oil post over on the auto journal. Have a great Sunday all!
