InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

You are a busy man ITS, geez, action packed you could say. Love the little family dynamic updates here and there. ;)

Thanks G2! I'd love a dull weekend but that was def not in the cards :).

I would give the transplanted ak one more node site before topping so not yet but that gold leaf is looking good and how are the clones in the jug?

Clones in the jug are down to one (see pic above) and even that was spinning last time I took it out so I have my doubts. One more node site and then top them all? There's a lot of growth on this baby.

My boy reacts the same way when grounded and he’s only 9 lol when I take his game systems away he’s so much more engaging in the family and his personality comes out. It’s funny how that works lol

Funny and cool at the same time. It's nice to have that playful kid back rather than the (not always but more often) sullen teenager.

The car show was fun until we got too tired to care any more. Some of the lines to get into the cars were too long but we have more fun figuring out how to pop the trunks and seeing how big they are...and how many dead bodies you can fit in each!

Happy Monday to y'all! Let's check in on the ever-changing clone-box first thing this morning:

That's the standard so far I'd say. Let's see what it looks like now!

Can you spot the difference? It's a hard one I know, but when you see it you'll shit bricks! Ok, I won't keep you in suspense any longer. I tossed the AK topping clone as it was a wet noodle and I took the seed from the cheez-its bowl and put it in the paper towel on top of the DVR so both seeds can do absolutely nothing together!

And then there was one. Here it is...the Gold Leaf on day 56. Do you count the age of a clone from the day you cut it? The day you transplant it?:

Here are the nothing-doing seeds:

I'm still keeping the Gold Leaf in the box with the lid cracked because I just don't trust it yet. If nothing else it's keeping the roots warm. I gave it some water today from top and bottom and I'll check the roots again tomorrow.

And finally, also on day 56 (yes? no?), here is the AK-47 clone:

Pretty bushy I'd say. And I need to keep it that way :).

Have a great day!

Man the Ak clone looks awesome! I think whatever works for keeping track of age. If probably go with transplant date, but cut date is good too! But technically both are incorrect, because the clone actually thinks it's as old as the original mother. However I would say that calling a new clone 300 days old may confuse most .

Cuttings can really be temperamental at times. I think I'm gonna lose the Lilly cutting , but good news is mama G is ready for transplant as she has totally outgrown her solo cup.

Have a great Monday shed!

Hey shed what's your cloning technique right now?

In my cloner I find clonex works best to dip in. Ph to 5.8 and a 1/4 teaspoon of floragro per gallon will keep them green and growing.

In dirt I find that if I use a half gallon pot and fill it with a 2:1 mix of promix/oceans forest. Then straight promix in the center where clones stem is going.

I cut just like I would for the hydro cloner and rather than dipping in clonex I dip into straight water then in root tone powder. Once the roots take there is some gently promix as not to burn the roots and once they have established themselves enough they will grow into the light nutrient mix soil and this will cut down on yellowing. I've never had luck with the Pete pods as there's nothing in there for the roots to soak up once they appear.

Hope this helps some brother

Slash and burn is the current approach ;).

Other than the first AK-47 I got to root and then killed, none of my other attempts have been successful. The peat pucks obviously didn't work for me (0 for 7? 8? I've lost count), but the ones in soil have worked. The soil I've got is Dr Earth Pot of Gold and my only addition is perlite. So if I did it again I'd go with that (more soil/perlite than I do for plants) and some sort of rooting powder. If it looks like I will be cloning on a regular basis (like if I find a photo strain that I want to stick with) I would probably build an aeroponic bucket with a submersible pump and a sprinkler head. I know that Rider has said he's moving away from that to soil, but it looks like it checks a lot of boxes for me in terms of ease of use.

How come the clonex doesn't all move to the top of the stem when you slide it into the soil? It looks like the soil would resist anything on the outside of the stem. Friction and shit.

I don't like clonex in soil though. I feel like clonex is the bomb in hydro set ups but I feel like the powder is the bomb in soil. To me my hydro cloner takes maybe 5-7 days and I have roots showing and 10-14 I have full baskets ready to transplant. In soil You can't really tell when you have roots showing but I would say I don't get the results as fast as I do in the ez cloner.

The hydro clones tend to take faster after transplant so that tells me they have a more established root system than the dirt clones. But dirt works fine. They start growing for me in like 20 days from slice in soil. That's when I notice they are clearly going verticle. But they do that before they leave the cloner in hydro

:-) you take a pen and poke a hole silly. Lol and then put it inside and push the soil to it :-)

Oh, that makes sense! I'm sure I've been reading that you push the stem down into the soil to make good contact. Pencil first would be the frictionless way.

The youtube video of the aero bucket looked really simple and doesn't take the same attention that soil seems to with RH and temp control and all. Almost idiot proof which suits my cloning style :):). The clonex doesn't wash right off with the spraying water? So many clonex questions!

Yes! That's really what I was thinking of on a much smaller scale (bc I really don't need 300 clones by spring ;)).

Can anyone tell me why it matters if the bucket is food grade and there's no PVC? I'm not growing lettuce to harvest in it. Roots for a week and then out! Anyway, no one says the submersible pumps are food grade and that's sitting in the water the entire time!

It doesn't matter at all. It's all marketing hype to make you feel better about paying way too much for the same thing you could DIY from Home Depot stuff.

Here ya go, Shed. Only 340 pages to read and you'll be a cloning Master.
LMAO Cloning For Dummies

Where's the sarcastic "thanks" button? 340 pages means that there are as many ways to clone as there are arguments on when/whether to flush! They can't all be me too'ing the one true path.

The key to cloning is not to put the clone tray in your office!

Figured as much.

So the last thing I do with my clones and seedlings is that I blow on them as I lock the lid down. I do this twice a day to give them an injection of CO2, then every time I come back they are a little darker green. Mind you I do put my clones pretty close to my T5, same with seedlings. Maybe 4 inches.

Not that you need more to do, nor asked for advice, but it's there for the taking, just like the trash, it's gotta go somewhere...hahahaha

BTW, Love the sarcasm, sooo funny.

Nah, that thread devolved a long time ago. Last I checked it was a hangout for the "others", the denizens of 420 that inhabit the shadowy hallways of threads long since dead.

We called them "shadow kids" but that's the name they gave themselves they ate lunch in This weird shadowy corridor....

Actually the last few who frequent there.... myself included , use it as more of a general forum. Cloning techniques are discussed but it's kinda a free for all....

And yes the consensus for cloning is like white men moon walking.... we all try. And while everyone's technique sucks, they claim it's the best
