I know right? I'm looking forward to seeing them break ground!Yippee!
Aww thanks double H! I don't think I'll enter it as PhOTM...as long as it made you smile it's a winner.Well yes, of course I do! But that one is particularly pretty.
/ at your seed smiley face. PhOTM contestant?
Thank you Grateful!Most excellent!
Carcass! Maybe I can finally put that on my list of things I can do...like clone.Sweeeet seed haul, Shed!
Hmmm...interesting thought! I'd worry about them baking in the heat though, so they're just sitting in a corner of the desk drying out. I'll drop a couple of green ones before I chuck them though just in case!I'd put those green ones out in the sun- they've still got some chlorophyll in 'em, maybe they'll finish ripening, and darken up like "the good ones"
Thanks BigD! And there may be more coming.Wow! Nice seed harvest Shed.
Hi Shed Yes pine is on the good list. I had a bag of organic pine mulch from my local nursery that was fine but watch out how they store it. Mine was chipped from a snowbank and after a while developed gnats in the basement. Straw and hay is good too if it's around. Will pine/fir bark chips work?
Good to know, thanks Tim! I think a bit more water retention will make them a lot happier in the Happy Frog soil.I've used pine bark mulch in the last two grows and it was great! It prevented fungus gnats , and assuming other pests, from getting into the soil. Apparently the gnats kill themselves when trying to dig into the pine bark mulch. Mine was small, ranging from 1-2" pieces and I made a layer about 1.5" deep.
I would love to be using it now but GF felt it would mess us the breakdown and absortion of their dried nutes.
I'm not looking forward to this warm weekend in the South. I'm about over 95 plus degree days with 90% humidity ha.
I'll check up the side of the house and see if there's still a bag up there...otherwise it's back to HomeDepot again (just dropped some change there last night for a small construction project I'll be doing this weekend).Hi Shed Yes pine is on the good list. Thank you! They'd like the fresh ocean air but they're not spending a minute under the umbrella with me.Your summer ladies are looking like they're on the way to the beach! Just lovely!
Thanks Carmen! Now I'm just waiting for them to get big enough to flip...Beautiful canopies. They've come along so nicely Shed.
Pretty even is a bit of an understatement, no? Those canopies look great! Both plants look very healthy. My buddy swears by his Purple Urkle. Says nothing is quite like it.Proof of life Monday update, the one where we see that the Summer Grow is moving along on day 69!
Starting with the Trainwreck from @Weed Seeds Express:
SaugaView®:
And the Purple Urkle:
Pretty even canopy at this point, and I'd say the shortest nodes on the bottom will come off next weekend so the plant doesn't waste any more time growing them.
I wanted to find some mulch for the top of the soil to keep it from drying out in the sun but Home Depot didn't sell straw. Will pine/fir bark chips work? I don't have the big chunks that @StoneOtter uses but I do have the un-tinted "medium bark" stuff for garden beds.
I hope everyone's weekend was sunny and warm, since this is the time of year that's supposed to happen (except for those of you way down south of course)!

@Carcass has twice referred to his flat flowering canopy "bumpy," so I feel like I need to call my veg one "pretty even"!Pretty even is a bit of an understatement, no? Those canopies look great! Both plants look very healthy. My buddy swears by his Purple Urkle. Says nothing is quite like it.
Indeed, it is always related to getting them through doors! Though I may have a bit of a time constraint (first time since I started growing) since I plan on getting to NY in late fall to close up my parents' apartment. I have to make sure this grow is in jars before I go.Shed I have a question for you. How do you or by what criteria do you decide how big you want a plant to be? You obviously have the skills to grow anything you want, so you must be making a conscious choice on the size, yes? Is it based on the in and out thing and actually moving them around?
Thanks N! I was hoping they'd be bigger by 69 days but not being able to have them in the tent at night under the Mars SP250 kept them smaller than usual. The seed-project was hogging that space!Congrats on your seed project and having a nice pile off seeds to start the next grow!
Summer grow is progressing nicely! Some very happy ladies basking in that wonderful California sunshine!
I appreciate that. I know I usually have sweet flat canopies too but almost always I refer to them as “pretty good” or whatever. What are we going to say, look at my perfect canopy? Understood about the sizing, thanks.@Carcass has twice referred to his flat flowering canopy "bumpy," so I feel like I need to call my veg one "pretty even"!
And I have heard some raves on the PU so I'm hopeful on that. I know that my wife likes Trainwreck vape carts so that's why I went with that one.

Hellllooooooo!!!Late Friday update because finding and sorting seeds is very time consuming. Yes...seeds!
Today was Sour G STS harvest day, on flip 79. It was done drinking and had very little green on it:
I decided to work in the tent because the tray would keep the seeds from flying all over the place. Here are the branches:
That pic was taken at 9:28am. This pic of all the seeds was taken at 1:47pm, so it took over 4 hours to go through every single bit of plant and find the seeds hidden in it.
I scooped them off the floor of the tent and put them in a bowl. They're easier to see here since they're not smiling back at you:
Later this afternoon I went through every single one and sorted them by color:
Here are closeups of each batch. Green:
Pale:
Dark:
Striped:
I have them separated in a days-of-the-week pill holder to dry for a couple of weeks, at which point I will go over them again (because I'm sure some are in the wrong piles) and toss the green and pale ones. Then I get to do it all over again with the two plants I pollinated! Once those are dry I will test germinate some and put the rest in the fridge. And if planted ones come up healthy I will finally be able to dump the Sour G mother plant.
Hellllooooooo!!!
Sure did!Hells to the yeah! Looks like the 50/50 worked a treat!
Me too! for finding it.Glad that I found that vid and that you tested it out for all of us.
Why thank you Ms G!Trainwreck looks gorgeous
LOL! It'll take all the backhanded compliments it can get.and the Purple Urkle isn't without her charms..
So, I have a clear favorite. Sue me! LolLOL! It'll take all the backhanded compliments it can get.
I tried cedar chips last year - I don't recommend! 1 of 3 plants absolutely hated it.I wanted to find some mulch for the top of the soil to keep it from drying out in the sun but Home Depot didn't sell straw. Don’t you need something like a current copy of the L.A. Times in the photo? At least that what all the kidnap/ransom movies show.Proof of life Monday update
Noted! So, I have a clear favorite. Sue me! Lol
Really noted! Thanks for taking that bullet for us Grateful. #phewfI tried cedar chips last year - I don't recommend! 1 of 3 plants absolutely hated it.
Lol will do, but will the NY Times be okay instead?Don’t you need something like a current copy of the L.A. Times in the photo? At least that what all the kidnap/ransom movies show.
Couple of real beauties there, Shed! those canopies are great!@Carcass has twice referred to his flat flowering canopy "bumpy," so I feel like I need to call my veg one"pretty even"!
Lol! Thanks Carcass, and you controlled everything you could in there all through veg. It's a beauty!Couple of real beauties there, Shed! those canopies are great!
Mine's looking more like an EKG printout these days...
I suppose……will the NY Times be okay instead?
