InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

before legal the rcmp, and the border agency, just used to put stickers all over my overseas parcels, as way of winking at me that they knew what i was up to ...
edit : but i always got them. thanks to canada post
It's great when government agencies work together! :high-five:
All this clone stuff makes me want to get back into some photos. I’m just so limited on space and I also want to build up the variety of my personal stash before I start limiting my options to just one or two strains.
You can grow photos the same size as your autos! Though you do autos so well I'm not sure I can think of an advantage. :)
I usually start my seeds in mid April, and then transplant to 20 gal pots and put them outside in mid to late May. In the 2 weeks prior to setting outside, I gradually adjust my light schedule from 18 hrs of light to about 14.5 hrs of light. This matches what mother nature gives me during that time of the spring.
Great system, thanks BL!
Nice work on the clones. Is this typical for how long it takes to get roots? I just took some cuttings on March 1st, not sure how long it will take to get some new growth, but seems like 1 month will be about right?
Thanks! It takes about 3-4 weeks for me in perlite (on the heat mat), so if I need them on a quicker timetable or want to be 100% sure I have something that makes it, I still clone the ProMix/Dip'n Grow/dome way from beez0404 (link here for those who would like a step-by-step).
I'm still hoping to get some of my buds from last season tested. I've just been distracted lately and keep forgetting to contact the testing lab. They recently changed ownership so I'm not sure what their new procedure and pricing is right now. I'll keep you posted when I get my act together.
I'd like the updated info when you get around to sorting it out, as well as the test results of course! :thanks:

Saturday night's alright for an update, yes?

Did some more transplanting today. First was two 1 gallon pineapples that had been in their clay pots for at least 5 years, waiting for their time to shine! Here is one before the deed:

And here they both are after the upcan to 10(?) gallon cloth pots:

I also decided to free up some desk space in our tiny home office by transplanting the Sour G clones to 1 gallon pots:

Those are on the floor along with the Candida and Sour G mothers and the huge Candida bush and Jack Herer for flower. So now is just a very narrow path from the door to the computer, and the room smells vaguely of neem. Lovely!

I hope your weekend is going well.

Howdy Jhigh and :welcome: to my perpetual journal! I'm glad you're finding some useful info here, and if you have any questions about my grow (or growing generally :) ) feel free to toss them here. Someone will get you pointed in the right direction.

And stick around for a female to male reversal attempt as I try to get seeds from the Sour G clones!

So is there a grow light in the home office?
Those clones sure look good, living on the desk agreed with them ..

Thanks Carcass!
So is there a grow light in the home office?
The short answer is no.

Here is the tl;dr answer:
All the vegging plants are in the office at night with the desk light and overhead light on. I had the two big ones in the shed for light and heat but the Candida got too tall to fit in the Oval with the light on top to keep the heat in. So until the nights get a bit warmer all their growing will happen outside.

Hey Shed! Thought I drop by and say :ciao:

A couple of question. How did you get the pineapple plants? I here people just cut the top off of a store bought pineapple and stick it in a pot. Also what do you mean by “their time to shine”? Does it take 5 years until they are ready to bear fruit?

Spending the day up- potting and taking care of all the flora in sunny southern. What a Nice way to welcome in the Spring time.
:green_heart:
My day was spent washing the deck in preparation for a short forecast of sunshine here in the PNW. I’d like to get the deck treated in our tight window of Tuesday and Wednesday of warm sunny weather. :yahoo:

:ciao: BigD, nice to have you cruise through!

The pineapple plants are all descendants of a single Maui Gold that I brought back from Maui about 10 years ago. They're not available for sale on the mainland and we bought a box of 6 on our way to the airport for the flight home. Gifted five, kept one.

They're incredibly sweet but they take a long time to flower in Los Angeles, probably because they don't get winter nights in the 40s at home. Even the ones in big pots take many years here, unlike in Hawaii where they're supposed to fruit in two years. And it doesn't look like they'll fruit at all in a 1 gallon pot!
They look good. Nice roots!
Thanks!

I guess so, if the bugs are the VC and it's 1969!

It was definitely a nice day to get it done. :)

Gotta squeeze the work in when you can! I have to say that cleaning decks or patios with a pressure washer is really satisfying. :thumb:
Nice upcan , thats not much light for vegging in the office , mothers i could see though. Hope ur well and getting some sunshine !
Thanks sb! For clarity, the lights in the office are just used to keep the plants from flowering. I let the sun handle all the growing these days, and I don't need a lot of growth at the moment from any of them actually. Everything is in a vague limbo at the moment, waiting for warmer nights and/or the DV harvest.
^^ wondering the same!
:ciao: DAB!

Nice job on all the up cans! Everyone is looking happy and healthy!

They're incredibly sweet
Mmmmm sounds good!
they take a long time to flower in Los Angeles
Hopefully I can try some when we come down for a visit one of these days! Hopefully the kids haven’t out grown Disneyland by then lol.

Hey shed, I wanted to start my outdoor grow but I’m not sure if I can start now or if I should wait until Mother’s Day?

Like Shed just said, now is still a bit early. I usually start mine (indoors) about the 2nd week of April, and eventually set them outside by mid-late May. I'm at 37.3º N latitude.

I start mine around April Fool's Day when the moon is right. I put them in my garden in late May. Nice sized seedlings by then. I'm at 41 degrees north. Nothing wrong with starting the beans in the house. I have a couple flourescent lights to keep them alive before the cold frame. Happy Smokin'

Tuesday update, mostly of the Doug's Varin on flip day 55.

Full plant in the morning before it's carried into the sun:

It's really leaning due to the weight of the flowers now, not because Grand Daddy Black sat on it or anything!

Here is the SaugaView®:

And here is one of the horizontal flowers on the right:

Moving outside, here are some random bud pics:

And finally, some pics of the clones in dappled sunlight, which is how they spend the day:

Only thing missing from this are the mothers and the two next to get flipped (Candida and Jack Herer 1.1), and I'll get pics of those tomorrow.

I hope your week is off to a good start! :surf:
