In The Lab

Question for you guys.
In a few days I will start cooking the soil.
I will need to up pot A few of my plants in about two weeks from then. Should I use some of docs half cooked soil? Or should I just keep some aside to do the first up potting? Which is better?

Thanks

Keeps some aside, but if you must then you can add extra roots to the soil (like a cup to 1 bale) and mix it in. That'll give you a 2 week "head start"

Hey OG, gettin the kit...finally thru customs. PITA! My stuff from Doc usually takes a week to ten days, always get it:)
About the soil Q., make sure to follow Doc's directions and mix the "amendment, between 20 - 40 pounds of EWC's into a 3.8 cu. ft. bale of ProMix HP. Mix it well, while dry. As you add it to your 'cooking' totes is when you wanna add the water, and NOT tap water (unless it's been tested and treated) Use Distilled , R.O. or well water that's also been tested OK. Everything has to be done properly , with NO substitutions ,..like what your friend's uncle's , brother says, is NOT OK:) If you do these things and provide the proper enviro , you too, will be 'assimilated' and become a weed snob , of the highest order.:bravo: Cheers to ya OG....i'm just down the 401 from ya...:surf:

Thanks guys, will do. Don't worry I have a nice new reverse Osmosis system. I have no problem following directions, just wasn't sure if it was OK to use a little of the soil early.

For the separate soil to use in two weeks does 4 parts pro-mix hp to one part worm castings work well? Or other suggestions?

I suggest following the directions and letting the soil cook. That's what I do.

I get that it is best to follow the directions but I will need a few gallons of soil in two weeks. So is it better to use half cooked two week soil or new mix of 4 parts hp to one part castings or something Else?

Great thanks. I will not touch the kit soil and follow directions fully and just use 4 parts pro-mix to one part worm castings for the ones that need repotting in two weeks. Then once soil is cooked they can get up potted to doc bud soil.

Yep, don't use partially cooked soil if you can help it at all. You can do as you've already stated and mix some ewc and promix (I'd put a tablespoon or so of roots powder in it too ;) ). Some 1/4 trans water to moisten should easily buy you 1-2 weeks.

Yes , OG, Gov. is most correct also, add a lil roots (about a tablespoon) and moisten the soil with a 1/4 strength Trans water OK. As Gov said , this will easily get you a couple weeks until your DBHBB soil is ready to go!... Thanks Gov...:)
