In The Lab

I actually think it matters, different heat absorption and release, different oxygen penetration so quicker or slower water evaporation and more or less effective microbial growth. I've been using air-pots for flowering for years and didn't find anything better... except direct soil growing. But indoor I'd look into different options before you decide.

Yes Conrad , agreed 100%. I love the 'Rootbuilder' pots i use . I've grown in all kinds of containers and mediums and my main point to OG was that the type of pot has no real bearing on his or her success compared to the soil and how much of it , there is. Soft pots...good,..hard pots good:) Now , break it down further ,..like where are the pots,..out in the sun , inside, etc. the individual grower has to make those decisions as to best suit their needs.
The reason i made the switch to Rootbuilder pots (love the effects of 'air pruning) or 'air pots' as they resemble , is because of a 'Root Aphid' infestation i once had with hard pots i was using. The RA's would chew thru a main (coiling around the pots inside perimeter) feeder root..bingo , the rest of that root dies. When the plants were done i was able to just pull out the whole plant , by the roots without any effort at all. After battling those RA'ds for weeks and weeks , i made the switch to 'Rootbuilder' pots , then i just kept makin them bigger:)
Cheers Conrad , OG and gang!:circle-of-love:

Well it will be grown inside a cabinet undies lots of led light.
But I don't like bugs either so if fabric pots helps with that, good deal.
How hard is it to lift a 7 gallon fabric pot? What are the negatives if fabric pots?

Hey OG , lets get sumpin clear,..ok, the 'bugs' don't happen cuz of the pots. They are brought in with the plant, soil, clones, outside air, etc, etc...But , i can say this, for 100% certainty, if you are doing a crop, and things start to look bad because of those 'critters', you better hope you have soft pots or some kind of 'air pruning' pot...now that's not to say hard plastic pots are trouble, cuz they're not,...until they get full of RAs.Chomp. chew , chomp chew...FFS's..now look at my plants....i tried everything to get rid of them,...well, not everything. What i finally did was put the soil outside ...middle of winter..MUAHAHA...gave it all to my neighbor, for his veggie garden. He grew fantastic things that year...:slide: For your purpose, wanna know what i would try....two ten gal soft pots...:)

Cheers, to ya OG and gang.
Glass of wine,..puff of HB Green Crack...hockey game to watch....'all's good' ...no sweets though:rofl: ....rats soup!

Hi OG! Great call going with Doc's Kit! I'm certain you will have some excellent crops. I agree with Duggan and 2 softie #10's would fit good in that space, you might even fit 3 but that may be kind of tight. I use root pouch #10's and love em. I have a 4X4, currently running 2 plants which leaves a lot of room in my tent, I should probably have 3 and 4 gets very tight.

With what you ordered you'll have 2 full kits so you may wNt to order in bulk. 1 kit does 6 #7's so about 42 cubic feet of soil and with 2 #10's that is about 1/2 kit, so it's gonna take you a while to get through all that soil especially considering you can get 3 runs from each batch.

I'm sure a vet like you will have no problems with this but as you can see there is lots of support from the HB gang!

One more thing, my best harvest so far, I stripped pretty much everything below the top 4 or 5 nodes.

Also, I'm a total noob, been growing for less than a year.

Get soft pots with handles.

My favorite is Geopots - they have nice double seams, sewn on handles, a good structuure, and are taller than they are wider.

The only other one I grew in was SmartPots. I dislike them. SmartPots are floppy with cutout handles and they squeeze the soil so the soil shifts (roots get disturbed) when you pick them up. They are also wider than tall, so more of the soil (the top bit) dries out faster.

Anyone know where to get these geopot 7 gallon in Canada for a reasonable price? They are $16 in Amazon USA but $61 on Amazon Canada. I hate that bullshit. Also, black or beige is best?

I plan to start a new journal for my new doc bud grow soon. Should I do that now and ask my questions there, or is it easier here or what is best?

Thanks

Good morning OG, yes, do both , start a journal AND remain here and ask questions in this thread and Doc's Q & A thread, that way lots of members will get a chance to help you!:)

I guess it will only matter the first time. After that the perpetual harvest means they won't be needing to up pot to the final 10 gallon at the same time...

Hey , no worries...you did NOT make a mistake OK. Those bigger pots will serve you well and you WILL learn to love them , trust me. Your plants will thank me , wait , i can hear them calling me now....they're sayin ," thanks so much Duggs , now we can 'play' and have more fun with more dirt". As Doc just said too, your first DBHBB crop is going to please you....a lot!:)Cheers eh. Now that you have two kits ordered , you can do as i do , always have a kit 'cooking' and one 'in use' Ok , that way you will always be 'ready' . Two kits in rotation is absolutely the best way , for us smallish growers anyway:):circle-of-love:
