UPDATE TIME!!!

Chocolate Thai Project: Day 68 flowering... Partial harvest.

Hey everyone! So were back with an update on the Chocolate Thai project. Today I harvested all of my "non-chocolate thai" strains, along with 2 of the 6 chocolate thai plants. The 2 CT's that I havested were of the earlier flowering phenotypes and were mostly finished on day 68. The other 4 plants are long flowering and still showing mostly white pistils so they will definitely be going another 3-4 weeks by the looks of it.. Grr! I mean yay! lol

Of the 2 CT's that finished, they both have very similar terps, however 1 is much fuller and larger buds, and frostier, where the other is smaller buds and not as full or girthy. The one with the larger buds however, I think may have popped a banana as it looked like it when I pulled the plant down, as well as it did the "curly thing" I call it, when the pistils start looking very curly and odd. I've seen this on a few plants in the past I've grown, where the pistils go from normal to very curly, and it pops banana's... so its a shame that if I do find banana's, I will not be carrying this pheno over to the seed project, which is a bummer because its a phenominal looking plant, and perfect in all ways. I refuse to breed with known hermi plants though, so depending what I see when it dries will make my decision.

The 4 other sativa dom/long flowering Ct's look really good. 1 is noticiibly more frosty, larger buds and has more vigor than the other 3, so most likely that will be the keeper for the long flowering ones, but they still have a while to go so I will be open minded about making a decision on the keeper until they are done.

The challenge: Humidity!!! I really hate this time of year for harvesting, as the way the jet stream sits annually, the winds many times come off the desert instead of the ocean, and we have had almost 2 months of DRY weather, I mean ZERO RH!!! its not only been horrible on my sinuses, it makes for a really bad time to harvest. The other challenge is having a "odor free" drying space to dry my plants. Generally I harvest all of my plants at the same time, and use the grow tent as a drying cabinet to control odor. Well since the 4 CT's wanted to go long flowering on me, I had nowhere to dry them... So I came up with a solution for both...

Luckily I made 2 bug out bags a while back and inside them I had the mylar "space blankets". So I took one of the space blankets out and used it as a curtain between my lights/growing plants, and the drying area. It worked to an extent, and blocked most of the heat and light from the drying area, so hopefully this will work! To combat the humidity I left all of the soil pots in the tent so they have moisture to suck up, I also hung a wet towel which daily I dampen to help aid with the slowing of drying. I turned down the extraction fan to very slow to aid in the RH increase, and I have a evaporative cooler/humidifier on the intake hose... So all of this, and the RH is sitting around 30% which is better than the 0-20% RH right now. I also looked at wind forecasts over the next week and planned my harvest out where the today and yesterday were zero RH, but the winds will be shifting off the ocean, which brings 50% RH mostly so hopefully this will come tomorrow and monday so the tail end of the drying process will be slower... Fingers crossed:

Here is a photo of the mylar setup:

Other than that, I couldn't be happier with how all of the buds turned out, and even more happy that I finally will be smoking some of my own produce. Its been about 2-3 years since I've smoked my own stuff because of all of the seed projects so super excited I will not have to be buying any herb for a while. I also picked up some bovida 62% packs which I have heard great things about for curing/drying and some additional mini RH meters which I can put in each jar to monitor when I need to burp and let out moisture. Most molds grow at 65% RH or higher so its very important to keep the humidity below this level so the RH meters I think will be key to ensuring a nice harvest and cure.

GDP x Deep Chunk: This cross I made is spectacular, and I am extremely happy and envious of my work on this!!! I randomly picked a seed and planted it and I can't believe how dense, frosty, colorful and how good this smells! It smells like a mixture of artificial grape flavoring mixed with nose burning baby poo... LOL. I think its going to be couchlock for sure and I love having a few couchlocks in my garden :) Take me to outerspacE!!!!!

Other than that.. here are some pics of the plants harvested:

Thanks Dr. Hook! Yea its definitely nice to have some of my own fruits of my labor to enjoy :) its been a while! I've already snuck a few nugs to try and so far.. yum :)

Yea its always "iffy" at this time of year to harvest, generally between November and end of March but the rest of the year is perfect so I definitely am thankful for that :)

I have learned to work with it, and this year I went a few steps up and things worked out so far so good.

Quick update:

The low RH over the last week has been frustrating, and murphy's law kicked in and proved my weather forecasting to be horrible... LOL as the first 4 days of drying the RH was Below 15% and mostly below 10% (even our dew point was at 29F which is very low). So I rush trimmed all of the plants and jarred them... and then... today... it rains and the humidity over the next week is going to be 50%... figures right.. .LOL

Anyhow since I've dealt with this in the past, the worst thing I can do is let them dry to quickly or I just will get brittle "powder" with a grassy taste... which I didn't want.... so I've learned its better to let them get brittle dry on the very outsides where they still have about 40% moisture left approximately and the stems are starting to get dry, but not fully dry. I then can trim and jar them and slowly burp them controlling the moisture exchange.... The biggest factor is controlling the humidity inside the jars as anything over around 65% is prime for mold to grow, lower than this and mold really won't grow according to what I have read...

So this year I picked up some Ball canning jars, the 32oz wide mouth ones, and some mini Humidity and temperature guages (pack of 5 was like 15$) online. This is extremely helpful as I can monitor the humidity inside the jars and when it raises above that 62% I open the jars, and as it falls below 62% then I close the lids. I put all 5 digital meters next to each other and they all were pretty accurate, so that was also a plus.

So far all is well and the buds are drying nicely :). Obviously I would have preferred to let them hang dry fully in normal (more humid) conditions, however from experience I've learned that quick dry leads to brittle, grassy harsh smoke..

I will take some photos in a few days as some of the buds are still drying and not to the steady 62%. I also bought some 52@ boveda packs which are 2 way humidity control packages which I will be using for longer term storage to maintain the freshness and keep a prime target RH for curing.

So far I've tried the trainwreck, harlequin and GDP x Deep Chunk. The trainwreck is amazing, fully lemon/lime pine rush of energy which later leads to drooling naps... The Harlequin is very very medicinal and smells like hot rubber and vicks vaporrub. It definitely doesn't really get you high as the high CBD counteracts the THC effects and it feels like a perfect medicine for pain and mimics a painkiller type feeling without the cloudy head. The GDP x Deep Chunk is absolutely phenomenal and I am happy I put it back in my veg tent to hopefully re-veg to include in upcomming projects. It smells and tastes very similar to purple punch, as its very skunky musty fruit punch grape smell and flavor are very strong, however this definitely is much heavier of an indica as the high is very heavy and euphoric. Truly amazing!!!

I have not tried the Chocolate Thai yet as the 2 plants I dried are still drying and taking longer to lose the moisture, so I imagine in about 2-3 more days it should be dry enough to get a good feel for its power :) the other 4 chocolate thai's are still flowering and haven't stopped yet pushing out white pistils, where I may have to lower my daylight hours to 10/14 to encourage them to finish up, or maybe throw the Far Red light I have in there to push them to finish...

Anyhow I will take more photos over the next few days :)

UPDATE TIME: Chocolate Thai and other strains dried and trimmed :)

Well everyone, my drying was a success and although the weather/humidity threw me for a loop, I still manage to dry and slowly burp the jars to completion, where now all of the buds are staying well below 52% in the jars while sealed so they are ready to be consumed :) I will be vaccum sealing a few of the strains to keep in the freshness to enjoy at a later time, but I haven't decided which ones yet.

All of the plants/strains came out amazing, and I am really pleased with the results. I will post photos of all of the strains, and the smoke reports of the Chocolate Thai and GDP x Deep Chunk will be on a separate post.

Trainwreck: Trainwreck is a lemony Pine fresh tasting strain with a very uplifting high that seems to hit you right between the eyes... lol Its definitely a daytime strain when you want to stay active and has a very fresh pine lemon flavor. It may cause some anxiety in those that may be sensative to sativas. The high tapers into a more heavy couchlock over time where spacing out is common

Ogiesel: Ogiesel is a indica dominant strain which really is a night time smoke as a few hits will leave you drooling in place and fast asleep, waking up confused hours later. The Ogiesel tastes heavily of its skunk lineage but with a good earthy kush flavor too, which may be due to its bubba and OG kush roots too. A slow growing, very stinky skunky indica which is great for naps.

Harlequin: Harelequin is an amazing medicinal strain as it has a lower THC and Higher CBD which is perfect to help ease pain and keep you alert while using it. Defintiely a more of a sativa dominant high, this hybrid tastes and smells like new tennis balls, fresh asphalt and new shoes and has a very medicinal smell. Incredibly sticky and frost covered these nugs will give you just enough of a high to feel a head change but still clear enough to get things done, Very similar feeling to taking mild painkillers.

GG4: The fresh kushy lemon minty pine smell and flavor of the GG4 is amazing and the high is very very intense. I would assume this is more of a indica dom hybrid as it has a punch that definitely hits you like the name suggests gorilla stuck like glue and its extremely frosty buds pack a wollup. Definitely a good evening or nightime smoke for me.

Black Cherry Soda:
This strain has been around my garden for years, and I love its smell. Just a slight brush of these buds and a fruit punch/Cherry/Berry fragrance mixed with a cherry chesecake smell fills the air! Upon breaking up the buds it smells like a fruit punch starburst or cherry candy with elements of cheese and skunk in the undertones. This is definitely a very heavy smoke, and great for parties as the flavor is very desirable and long lasting where even the roach of a joint still tastes good. One of my most complimented strains over time. The high is very heavy and instantly you feel a head change, body buzz and extremely high.

Cannarado Birthday Cake S1: This is a blend of cookies and cherry pie and definitely leans towards the cherry pie a lot. The smell is pretty bland and just smells like a sweet cookie dough with a hint of cherry or fruit but overall the terpenes and flavor are fairly faint and weak. It also has a slight kushy taste/smell to it and a fuel, but very light as well. The buds are dense, frosty and very nice to trim. Overall its a very strong indica dom hybrid which is a good blend of uppity front end with a more couchlock tail of the high.

Out of the 6 chocolate Thai plants that I have going, 2 of them were fast finishing and done around day 68, where the other 4 are still flowering and 86 days flowering and still going. Therefor we will have to wait to see those finish up and pick a winner. I have chosen which of the 2 short flowering phenos which will continue on to the next seed project.

Chocolate Thai #4
This phenotype is very similar to phenotype 4 in bud size, shape, trichome formation. The terpenes on phentype 4 are similar to pheno 5, but also different. This phenotype upon smell and taste, has a very strong mix of 40% clove, 30% cardboard/cigar, 20% prune and 10% cinnamon/spice smell and flavor. The inhale is smooth but the high is definitely different than #5. This phenotype is much more "trippy" of a high where you get that "3rd person" type vision where you feel almost like your eyes are somehow behind your back of your head and your perspective changes. The high on this is uplifting but in a more traditional sativa way where your mind is racing but thoughts almost become clogged and hard to pick apart, where the other pheno is more clear. This high is also very nice and would be great for outdoors events or concerts where you still have energy, but its defintely less brain clarity and more body/mind out of body type feeling, where you feel embodied in a warm buzzy light bliss feeling, but heavy headed. I definitely like this phenotype a lot too, but the terpenes on 5 were better slightly, and I do prefer the clear high from 5 more than this one although the trippy high is also unique and I may decide to keep this one too for seed production.

Chocolate Thai #5:
This phenotype was the clear winner in terms of terpene strength and flavor/smell, as well as the high. The terpene strenth is probably a 6-7 out of 10 and the smell would be best represented as "autumn blend". The buds have very little to zero "weed smell" and instead have about 40% potpourri, 40% clove, 10% baked goods, 5% orange spice, 5% chocolate smell. Almost as you walked into a halloween gift shop at a local farm during the holiday.... Incredibly complex and satisfying smell and the flavor when smoked translates right to your mouth. Its quite amazing and I am impressed. Now with that said, the high is unlike anything I have ever felt before. Immediately after taking a hit, you feel almost like some soft handed spirit grabs your brain and gently massages it and pulls your "mental posture" upwards. you immediatly feel more clearheaded, more aware with heightened senses, where your thought become very sharp and immediately feel a wave of energetic creative energy surge through your sensory system. Its quite amazing! Over time, about every 10-15 minutes you feel a wave of the high come in and get stronger as it keeps creeping upwards to you getting stronger and stronger. Very very amazing high and there is a reason why Chocolate Thai has become legendary. I am extremely impressed, and this phenotype #5 will be moving forward in my next project. Highly recommend this strain!!!!

GDP x Deep Chunk: This is a cross I made between my clone version GDP which I picked up about 5 years ago from a local dispensary and Deep Chunk which roots back to Tom Hill Genetics and is a legend of the PNW and NorCal area. The cross of these 2 legendary strains was nothing less than amazing. The buds took on a nice fat thick indica style with hints of purple thoughout the buds. Trichome production was pretty good, probably a 7-8 out of 10. The terpenes are extremely strong and resemble those famous "purps" smells that came from Norcal in the early 2000s mixed with hints of sulfur, pineapple and baby poo. Overall the terps are very appealing and strong and mostly smell like 2000's purps :) The high is heavy and mostly a body couchlock feeling in the body but leaves the head pretty clear and motivated. Too bad the body doesn't agree. This definittely is an amazing cross and I will hopefully keep this in the next project as I am re-vegging the plant that flowered. Time will tell.

Thanks Dr. Hook! The Chocolate Thai is very special now that I have had time to get familiar with it... Love the energetic mind enhancing feeling it gives, definitely a happy social idea creative type high without any anxiety feeling. Very nice smell and flavor too :) The harlequin turned out a lot more "stoney" than last times I grew it, where it definitely feels like being on heavy prescription painkillers, very "dreamy" type mind high with excellent body numbing :)

Yea definitely this whole covid thing has put a long damper on my life too... unfortunately in a state who still is locked down in many ways, so its really been tough trying to get a good job during these times. Good time for projects though and I've knocked out a few projects I've been wanting to do for a long while. Hopefully we can get back to "normal" soon.

Well just a very quick update. Today makes day 96 of flowering for the remaining chocolate thai phenos. Definitely they all look very different and its really hard to tell if they are done or need more time, but I'm getting impatient. I may pull them within the next few days as they just don't seem to want to finish up, but aren't really growing much either anymore.... Landrace/sativa is not the same as most hybrid/indica that I have grown where there really isn't calyxes to watch swell in the same manor.

One pheno, is kind of a mix of long/short flowering and has a very unique smell. It smells like lemon pledge dusting cleaner... very very lemon cleaner smell. I like it so I may bring it into the next project as well. There are 2 other phenos from the long flowering bunch that I am eyeballing. One has very sativa/landrace features on the buds which i find very unique and the buds are quite hairy and large, so I definitely want to keep it for next round. The other is the largest of the bunch and has more of a hybrid/sativa dom type structure, but very frosty and has much more terps. One of the phenos of the long flowering will not make the cut, and I'm still deciding on how many I want to keep but out of the 6 females I only want to hopefully keep 3.

Well I will update more when I take them down in a few days :) excited to pop some more Chocolate Thai seeds and see what becomes of the next project.

Update Time:
Chocolate Thai:
Final Harvest day: 104 days flowering

Well the day finally came, or at least I forced it..... at 104 days of flowering from the flip to 12/12..... Wow, what a long flowering period!!!!! Definitely not a fan of how long these sativa's go, but very happy to have legendary genetics in my garden :)

The Chocolate Thai had 2 phenotypes (probably from the Big Sur Holy weed that was bred with the Chocolate Thai since the CT had no males when they originally popped the seeds). One is a shorter flowering and with more hybrid type characteristics (more dense but sparsly placed nugs, tight calyxes and a more "indica" type bud structure) as well as finishing in "normal" time... The other pheno is the ones which I just harvested which have much larger bud structrues, but they are "whispy" and airy with little tiny "spindles' of bud, similar to most landrace sativas.

I overwatered them during a extremely dry spell (which generally reduces plant water uptake) and so the water leaves started to brown on me, which is why the buds look a little worse that the previous short flowering ones I had harvested, however I corrected the issue after the soil dried out so the buds should still be quite tasty and give me a good idea which phenos I select for future :) I also waited this time until I knew that we had a week of good solid humid weather coming as the previous 4 days have been desert dry. Hopefully the weather report was right :)

So Here are the 4 phenotypes: and my breeding notes on each (at time of harvest).

Pheno 1:
Pheno 1 Flowering on harvest day: This phenotype is the smaller of the late flowering phenotypes and is less dense and large as the other phenotypes in the long flowering group. Its buds are still very full and fill up a good portion of the top 1’ of stalk, but the buds are also very airy and whispy, with a more sativa/landrace type spindly formation instead of swollen buds and calyxes. The trichomes on this phenotype are very minimal when comared to the other phenos (probably a 4 out of 10) and the terpenes are not overwhelming (4 out of 10) however this is the only phenotype that has truly chocolate terps and nothing else. All of the other phenos have more of a cigar/hash type smell with hints of chocolate, where this phenotype is just strait milk chocolate terps. Originally I was going to cull this pheno due to all of the other traits, however since it’s the only one with true chocolate terps, true to its lineage, I will be keeping it for the next project. Overall none of the other characteristics were fantastic, but those true chocolate terps I am after and this one has them. This would be good to run the offspring in future grows to get the chocolate terps and larger buds.

Pheno 3:
Pheno 3 Flowering: This phenotype is by far the largest in terms of bud size/girth, stacking of the budsites and overall plant size. Harvested on day 104 flowering from the flip. This phenotype has a lot of tricomes but no the frostiest as the early flowering versions had more trichome density, however out of the longer flowering phenos this one has quite a bit of trichomes (6 out of 10). The terpenes are moderately strong (around 5-6 out of 10) and the fragrance at wet harvest is lemon hashy cigars with a hint of nutty or chocolate note. This pheno because of bud size and structure is favorable, but terpenes are average, trichomes average and it has a blend of sativa dom stacking with more indica type bud formation and calyxes. I will be bringing this pheno into round 2 of seed project.

Pheno 6:
Pheno 6 flowering at harvest:
Harvested on day 104. This phenotype looks the most sativa/landrace dominant out of all of the phenos (other than the smaller phenotypes with large full stalk buds but made of tiny spindly branched buds, very airy and wispy. No swollen calyxes or density to the buds but they are very very large. True sativa landrace looking plant. The trichome formation on this pheno is average (5 out of 10) and the terpene strength is low-average about 5 out of 10. The terpenes themselves smell like the majority of the others with a mix of hash, cigar but this has hints of chocolate as well as a minty “andes mint” type hint to it, almost a slight mint chocolate type smell, but also with cigar/tobacco. This phenotype is definitely a keeper due to the landrace/sativa bud formation, which is the best out of all of the long flowering phenos (in terms of true sativa look). I will be keeping this one for the next round of the project.

Pheno 7
Pheno 7 Flowering: Harvested on day 104 flowering, this long flowering pheno was much different than the other phenotypes in terms of bud formation. This pheno, exhibited more of a hybrid type bud structure with long full internodes but very dense/swollen calyx type buds you would find on more “worked” sativa doms or hybrids. It does not look like the other 3 long flowering phenos which all are sativa dom type bud traits. The buds on this are smaller but much denser than the other 3 long flowering phenos. The trichome density is the best on this pheno of all 4 long flowering phenotypes. The terpene strength on this pheno at harvest is good (solid 6 out of 10) which is slightly stronger than the other long flowering phenos however the terpen profile on this one is completely different from the rest. The terpenes on this pheno are Lemon Pledge (dusting solution) and no choclate, hash or cigars. All lemon. Very very appealing and uplifting smell/terps so I will letting this pheno go to the next round as well.

I have an idea of which phenotypes I will be including in the next Chocolate Thai project (since I didn't get any males and will be popping more seeds) but I have not made the final determination yet. Its very hard to select sativa dom phenos, because I don't know If I want to keep the selection true to the sativa characteristics (including the 100+ day flowering) or lean towards the shorter flowering "hybrid" ones. Also terpenes, trichome density and structure being important, its much harder to pick a winning phenotype of sativa than an indica or hybrid plant...

I know that the only pheno (pheno 1) is the ONLY pheno that has 100% chocolate terps, so I will for sure be keeping that pheno (unfortunately it was also the least frosty, smaller size and very "landracy" buds, so it would not have been my selection if it wasn't for the only one having pure chocolate terps). I really like the lemon terps on pheno 7, but since its chocolate thai, I don't know if my goal should be anything other than gettting that magical chocolate flavor... but time will tell :)

Anyone who has experience with selecting sativa phenotypes for breeding, I would love to hear your "selection factors" and how you weigh out each of the phenotypical expressions in importance....

Well I have about a week until these will be dry and then I will do some final trimmed bud shots as well as smoke reports :)

Hey Everyone!!!! Quick update on the Chocolate Thai project...

So as you all may know, the 1st chocolate thai breeding project was a fail because I got all female plants and was unable to reverse the CT fast enough to get pollen. Therefore I popped more CT seeds and guess what.... I got 1 male!!!! Sweet!

I kept 3 of the 6 chocolate thai pheno's from the previous project. I kept 1 of the short flowering ones (#5), and kept 2 of the long flowering phenos (#6 and #7). It was a hard decision but I kept the long flowering pheno which had the most "landrace" type look to the buds which seemed to be mostly true to the origin of thai. It also had amazing terps and high that left you soaring through the universe and almost kind of trippy or hallucinogenic. I also kept pheno 7, which was the "hybrid" long flowering pheno which had more "hybrid" type bud structure, above average yield, lots of trichomes, and this one had the super lemon terps. I also kept the short flowering pheno which had the best trichomes and bud structure and terpenes.

In the new project which I will be flipping to flowering in about 1-2 weeks (once my clones of my "mothers" root), I will be including 5 new Chocolate thai phenos from the newer seeds that I popped. 2 of these are about 2 months old and 1 is a male. The other 3 are newly planted and slightly larger than seedlings. I actually popped 5 new seeds, but only had room for 2, so unfortunately I may be getting rid of the 3 extras as I don't have room to include them in the project unfortunately. I feel bad discarding them without giving them a flowering run, but I just don't have room and I don't want to prolong the project any further.

So in about 2 weeks, Chocolate Thai "pollen chucking" project 2 will start in flowering and I have a confirmed male which is amazing.

I have to say the Chocolate Thai has a legendary name for a reason, its amazing. The high is very upliftying, dreamy, inspiring and even trippy (some phenos). I very much enjoy the flavor, high, everything about it (other than the long flowering period). lol Anyhow sorry I didn't post much updates after the last project. been kind of busy job seeking lately so had to shift gears of priorities. Anyhow I hope all are well!

...congrats on the male! :thumb: ...be nice to have successful seed run this time......cheerz...:high-five:...h00k...:hookah:
Thanks Dr. Hook! I'm excited too! Im really looking forward to seeing how it crosses with some of my other strains... Chocolate cake coming soon! Have a great weekend!

Hey everyone.... UPDATE TIME

Chocolate Thai open pollen project Number 2
Day 23 flowering (from the flip)

Nutrients:
foxfarm 3 part (grow, bloom, bloom booster)
enzymes
kangaroots
cal/mag
humic acid

Things are well underway in flowering in the 2nd Chocolate Thai breeding/pollen chucking project. Currently we are on day 23 of flowering and all of the chocolate thai phenos look happy.

I currently have 3, yes 3 male chocolate thai's in the project. Each one is a different age so I will be slowly getting rid of them as each gets a chance to spread its pollen. I have to say... I don't know what it is about this chocolate thai pollen, but it makes me sneeze and my nose stuff up like crazy... None of the other strains pollens did that to me.. very odd to say the least. I've had some strains in the past that make my arms itch when messing around in the foliage, but none of the other pollens have given me allergies... very interesting..

Anyhow... Each of the males are different ages, and all 3 have slightly different smells on the stem rub so it will be nice to get the variety in the seeds. The oldest male I am going to be pulling out of the tent any day as it has really spread a lot of pollen and all of the plants already are showing seeds forming from it. I want to make sure the other males get a chance as they are younger still and just starting to let the pollen fall. One of the males definitely has the chocolate/cigar/cardboard type smell, where the others have more of a fruity type smell to them.

The females are all looking good as I have been really keeping up on them and they seem pretty happy overall. I noticed that a few of the new phenos definitely have the more "sativa/landrace" tall strechy look and at least 2 of the new phenos have the shorter flower, frosty shorter structure to them. I like having variety and I am trying to keep really good notes so that in the future I can tell them apart.

Well not much else to report on other than things are looking great so far and I am really happy to have 3 males in the project :)

Here are some pics :)

Title of todays update... "I screwed up"... .

Today marks day 32 of flowering (from the flip) on my Chocolate Thai seed project...... however I may have to change that title......

What happened:
Originally when I started popping seeds for round 2 of the Chocolate Thai project, I popped the seeds at 3 different times..... I popped my "A1, A2 and A3" phenos first, followed by the "M" phenos a few weeks later, and about a month later popped the "B" phenotypes.....

The chocolate thai seeds I had in an envelope along with some DJ Short Blueberry F4 seeds, and each was in a labeled package, however deep in my mind, I was considering that I had made a mistake and popped some of the DJ short blueberry seeds, instead of the Chocolate thai..... Well during the growth period (veg) I thought that the "M" pheno's might have been the Blueberry so I discarded them just to be sure and not contaminate my grow with other genetics..... Well unfortunately I chose the wrong ones, and the 3 "A" phenotypes ended up being DJ short blueberry.....

Unfortunately, the A phenotypes male (2 females, 1 male in the A seeds), the male was the earliest to pollinate (even in veg) and therefore ALL of the plants in my chocolate thai project were pollinated by the DJ Short blueberry....
Around week 3 (day 24) the chocolate thai males (from Group B) also started to drop pollen, but at this time, all the females in the project had already been pollinated....

So now I have a tent full of females, all pollinated by DJ Short Blueberry f4, and possibly a small amount of chocolate thai pollen....... Since the pollinations occured at different times, obviously the most mature seeds will be the blueberry, where the less mature seeds will be chocolate thai, however there will really be no way to tell......

The solution: Well unfortunately this project, will be mixed and not dependable for 100% certainty, so I will finish out the project and label the seeds accordingly as a potential mixed batch...... I yanked all of my chocolate thai females out of the tent (except for #5) as I already had a clone vegging of this pheno... I pulled all of the "B" series chocolate thais as I am 100% certain they are all chocolate thai..... (2 of the 5 are males which were also pulled). I also pulled pheno 6, 7 from the 1st project. All of the pulled plants were topped and placed in my veg tent to get started on a reveg, and the males were labeled appropriately. Luckilly if they reveg in time, I will be able to start the project right up after the blueberry project is finished..... but unfortunately it delays my plans....

The good news...... The DJ short blueberry F4 females (2 of them) smell amazing! they smell like blueberry waffles and have the distinct smell of DJ Short Blueberry that you find in bluedream and other blueberry strains. Its one of my favorite terp profiles so I am happy that the 2 females both have it, and are also extremely frosty........ I was actually planning to do a DJ Short Blueberry seed project next, so at least I know the genetics have a lot of good potential, and I have more seeds to pop when I am ready for that project, but unfortunately it will have to wait until round 3 of the chocolate thai....

Never ever did I figure that the chocolate thai project would give me so much issues, no wonder why its rare and elusive :) makes me want to finish it even more :)

Well crazy mixup and the fault was me, not paying attention to detail when popping seeds.... at least I caught it and the problem will be fixed, plus I will have a ton of " mixed" seeds that I can probably give to friends and family :)

Well happy trails all!
