I Ain't Afraid Of No Ghost - Seedsman's Purple Ghost Candy Comparative Grow SIP/SCROG

What say you grow masters?

I have had Bud Rot the past 2 - 3 grows. This is the first time that Im chasing VPD and the first grow with a dehumidifier in the tent.

But I want to do everything I can to prevent bud rot this time around. Are there any strategies out there that I might be overlooking to help prevent?

Currently over the past week this is what my temperature, humidity, and VPD has looked like.

Do you think I’m in the danger zone with the above environment and a 4” intake, 4” exhaust that ramp up and down to keep VPD at its goal, 2 6” fans under the canopy, 1 is directly up the center between the 2 plants, the other flows up though the bottom at an angle.

Then I have 2 6” oscillating fans blowing down/across the canopy on opposite sides of the tent and 1 6” fan from a third corner blowing down/across the canopy.

Appreciate any feedback.

I'm no tent grower but I'd say if you can keep the RH under 50% all the time you'd probably have better luck. 45% would be even better as a high.
That’s really but what I’ve been trying to do. I’ve not been able to achieve that unfortunately. I am thinking that I need a more robust dehumidifier.

I have 2 in the tent that are supposed to be good for up to 400 sqft….. still as you can see I’m more at 57% on average…..

Your Girlz are looking Sweet! 😋

Lowering your Humidity will decrease your chances of Budrot. The first thing I would do would be to lower your canopy fans and point them upward to blow the heat away from the plants. The way you have them is increasing transpiration by heating them.

I would try that change alone before doing the next suggestion, because many will disagree with my next suggestion... Argh!

I would remove a majority of those Huge fan leaves over a few days to not shock the plants. Less leaves = Less Transpiration. I think it is the Lesser of 2 evils. ❤️

@Jon loved his Colaze dehuey:

I will have to take a look and see what I can find. I took a quick Look last night but didn’t have much luck finding that exact one.

Thanks!

I will give the fan placement thing a try, though, I had just moved the fans around and it made zero changes to the humidity levels, so I’m not putting a whole lot of faith into that one.

I would like to keep as many of the fans leaves as I can. Yet if I’m not able to get the humidity levels down another 10% I might have to get in there and do that to the point that I get to 50% or below regularly with no big spikes.
Glad I stumbled on this page when I did! Thanks for the info everyone and nice grow! Fingers crossed you get a solid harvest this year! I'll be following along to see how she drys cures and smokes if you don't mind 😀
:ciao: Welcome and glad to have you!

Finally a simple grow question I can answer!

I think as long as your 4” intakes is no more than your 0.8kPa and your VPD distribution x your Humidity Distribution + your Temperature Distribution is quartered by your VPD with just a hint of 6” oscillating fans you’ll be fine.

That's where I got it wrong... I thought the Temperature Distribution was halved! Thanks Trala! ❤️

I agree with the 50% or lower RH at your stage of growth. :) I got away with using fans and a robust air exchange system, before I had AC or a dehumidifier, so you got this.:cheesygrinsmiley::bong:

My PGC is taking a little longer than normal to cure. 🤔 Still a little harsh but getting better by the day. :) I think it will make fine rosin too.🤔:cheesygrinsmiley:

Ok so I scored big today, I think!

I got one of these as an open box deal for $80! Adjustable RH from 30% - 90% rh and good for up to 4000sqft. So waaayy more dehuey than I need :)

50 % or less in flower.

I got the dehuey out of the tent and into the room. Whole room dehueying made the difference for me. So yes a bigger one may be in order. I haven't looked at Jon's. That could be something.

I might have to reconfigure my “lung room”

Currently my intake fan comes right off of the register, as we were on AC. But we also keep the fan on the house going 24/7 to exchange air between the 2 levels of the house.

I also have a box fan that is exhausting air out of the room and the door is open to the room. So there is really good fresh air exchange for the tent.

I think in order for me to use the dehumidifier in the lung room. At the least the door would have to close and the intake fan would not come off the register, in fact I would probably close it. I might be able to keep the box fan exhausting outside?

But to start I’m just going to put this new dehumidifier into the tent and set it to 45% RH and see what happens. :)

I might be getting 80’s movies crossed here but does this involve the flux capacitor??

Oh this makes more sense :lot-o-toke:

Day 140 - Vegged for 56 - Day 35 of flower:

Figure I might as well do a quick little update.

Just cruising right along. I feed them daily and they continue to build nice looking buddage :)

Not a whole lot more to say.

This grow is awesome! I hope that big dehuey helps. It was a struggle with my tent keeping the humidity down. Now I just dehumidify the whole basement lol. Just watch out this winter you'll be a mini lightning rod, it's shocking hahaha.

Also your #FullNets approved (especially because you came up with it) haha can't not say it on every Scrog now 😂

#fullnets is the goal with a SCROG :)

That's an interesting scenario! Try the window and see if you remove it from the tent. I have exhausted outside and found it sucked in unwanted air and I stopped. It's a cellar with two drier vents so wrong ;) air was coming in freely (therefore shoveling shit against the tide). I found my situation better to keep internal.
