Hydro Light Worker journal

Okay I went ahead and trimmed quite a few fan leaves tonight. Shit my head got hot. That is until I got the bright idea to raise the light and oh that's right, I had a hooded sweat shirt on. duh. Hope I didn't take anything off I shouldn't have.

It sure would have been a lot easier if I would have done this when I had them out of the cabinet a few days ago.

Day 7 of flower nothing new to report there. I germinated some GDP seeds the guy gave me when I bought the first clones. I neglected them so bad it was almost as bad as trying to kill them. So that is why I went a head and bought a few more clones today. I got 3 OG Kush and 3 Afgooey. The reality of it is I have no knowledge of different strains so these names are all Greek to me. But here is a pic for you.

I also made a commitment to buy a guys 24 pot Ebb and Flow system. Now I need to build a room. So A1 get ready for a phone call or 20. LOL

Yes a used system. A guy has a 24 pot ebb & flow, 2 thousand watt lamp setups, a cloning tub (not sure what they are called) and some other odds and ends he said he paid $4,000 for and I am getting it for $800. Also picking up a couple large King cobra 1000w lights and ballast from a guy tomorrow. That is where you come in. I have no idea what do get to make it all run smooth. It will be a few weeks before I need you tho.

I got these clones from a different guy. I will pm you his number.

I decided to do some more defoliation to my plants and I think the liked it. I didn't wait for the 21 days into flower like many suggest and I am glad I didn't. So many of the fan leaves were covering the bud sites and now that they are open I can just here the dialogue between the leaves in the bud.

Buds: Bitch get out of my way your blocking my light.
Fan leaves: But baby you need me for when conditions are poor and I can give you what you need.
Buds: Look Bitch my master gives me everything I need now, I don't need you anymore. I only need the light and my master. ( that would be me of course.:) )
Yes it is every mans dream two bitches going at it.

Okay I must confess I had a bottle of Merlot so things might look a little different to the passive observer. But here are a couple of pics for you.It is hard to see but I took off a hell of a lot of leaves over the last few days.

It is hard from the pics to get a good idea of how much trimming I did and I had a hard time stopping there but I didn't want to put the girls into shock. I am sure I will be doing more soon.
still haven't gotten any stretching to speak of. Still the average close to an inch a day. Being new at this I have no idea what should be going on or what I should be doing.

Thanks RD and A1

These pics are a bit deceiving because with the light on I can't get my camera to penetrate into the plants to see how much I clipped them and I made a mistake posting the last pic because it was from before this last defoliation. However I am sure you are right A! I probably could do more but I wasn't sure if I should clip the top fan leaves when they just barely had a chance to open all the way.

This can certainly be an issue in such a small cab with this much plant material. Keep the air flowing well. The defoliation will help this. But make sure you have a good passive intake and maybe add one more small fan like the one in there?

Thanks Bass. It is hard to tell from the pic but there are two of those fans in there. I screwed up the other day when I closed the door to the small room these cabinets are in and when I checked on them in the morning the temps had gotten up to 98 and the RH to 70%.

Has anyone used ozone generators to get rid of mold?

Should help get rid of the spore floating thru the air but other then that no............

I confirmed another one of my fears tonight, all my plants are hermaphrodites. When they first started going into flower I thought this might be the case but so many bud sites were developing and I really don't know enough I wanted to wait and hope for the best. Not sure if I should bother to finish the crop and harvest the seeds or save the electricity and be done with them. Any thoughts?

I do not like the way this site set up the new pic uploading. Oh well.lol anyway I was going to post these pics last week and get some opinions but I decided to wait because I really couldn't get close ups of the pollen pods. That is what I am calling them but I don't know if it is right.

Buds were forming on all plants while these pods were developing so I didn't know what to think. Now I am finding seeds forming in the buds. I can't remember for sure if all the plants had these pods or just a couple.
I have read some people say that hermaphrodites produce only feminized seeds so I guess that would be a reason to keep going. But then I could only use the seed from the one plant that I am sure had the pods and flowers at the same time.

On a side note I have not seen any more signs of mold. If there was mold inside the flowers would it have already spread back out to the leaves?

I spent a couple hours plucking all the pods off last night so I don't have any new pics to post. Maybe later.

The last pic looks like nuts.... Ohhhh Nooooo!

The problem with this hermie producing seed is that the genetics are unstable unless you stressed this plant a lot which created the hermie. I will have to reread most of the journal but I fear that you may have to scrap these guys. If they were not stressed a ton then it might be worth keeping as the seed should be female, but not if it is bad genetics.

Being a new grower I have no idea what stressed a lot is. lol I have been having a hell of a time keeping the ambient temps Res temps and RH in check because of where I placed these cabinets. Here are a few shots from a bit of a distance.

granted I am a light weight when it comes to smoking pot but I got a great head high from a few tokes that I got from a bud 2 nights ago so I hate to think of tossing them now.

I think it may have been the early temp and humidity issues that could have caused some stress. I am not sure though as I grow in soil. I think it may be unstable genetics in these clones as all of them are hermied but they were also exposed to the same stress. I would grow them out and keep plucking the nuts so You can keep the seed count low. I would be inspecting and plucking twice a day. You still will end up with some smoke. I would ditch the seeds though and get the clones elsewhere next time. That is just my opinion though as the choice is yours.
