Hydro Light Worker journal

I was told to get the Rh down to 40-50% during veg.... so that is where I kept mine at. You need the lower RH so your leaves can aspire was my understanding. I could be wrong but I have had no issues and I am less than a week from chop.

I think I will have to get a dehumidifier then. Especially since I will be moving these over to my flower closet soon and bringing up my starts from the seed chamber that will increase my humidity levels even more. Will high humidity increase the chance of mold as well?

High humidity helps mold grow. The love moisture in the air. One spore could destroy your garden with humidity being high.

Thank you TG

Glad I could help. Also going back to the nutrient side of things, I recommend using what Alaskan, myself and several others on this forum use. Blue Planet Nutrients, a sponsor on this site, are very user friendly. The customer service is excellent and even more important the nutrients are designed for cannabis. Here is a link to them in the forum where they are reviewed by growers.blue planet nutrients review

I hope this helps.

Hey Light Worker! Was just checking out your grow looking good and sub'd by the way and had a couple of questions.
Do you monitor you res temps? And if so what are they?
Do you have any air being pumped into your res?
Also what type/wattage of light are you using?

Sorry for all of the questions and if any have already been answered, I'm just a little stoned at the moment.

No I haven't been monitoring my res temps. I would imagine they would be very close to the same as the rest of the cabinet.
I do have air continually being pumped through 4 large stones.
They are under a 400 watt HPS light right now and when I move them over to the flower cabinet they will be under a 600watt HPS bulb.
Thanks for the interest. You are getting great results I would say from your set up .

I am not sure how often a person should post pics of their grow but I like looking at these in action and thought you might too.

These were taken tonight. 9-20-2012
I trimmed a few leaves and did just a bit of supper cropping in the center of the grow. There are 6 plants here. At this point they are about 12" tall. I am not sure why but when I upload pics there are only a few of them available when I go to post them. Any ideas?

Looking Great! I like the pics keep them coming, I enjoy watching them grow. Looks like you are going to fill in your space nice and thick. Take what I say with a grain of salt because I'm new but I asked about the light because your veg pics looked yellow. Not sure if you're already aware or if your ballast will work with it, but a mh bulb will work alot better for the veg stage of your ladies. And with your res temps being high I would think some kind of root conditioner would also help and avoid mold. This is some good info given to me by alaskan1
"Do you have any root accelerators such as hydrozyme or Orca? Running H202 would also help with oxydation for the roots and help keep root rot away if the res temps get a lil too warm. The other option is to run Dutch Masters ZONE and then run none of the other things I mentions. DM Zone keeps the system sterile so it will kill any fungus or bacteria."

When you go to add them you only see 6 at a time but if you look at the bottom of the window that has your pictures in it you can go to the next page. It always shows your most recent first. I hope that I explained it clear enough.

This is bad, very bad generally speaking. High res temps lead to root rot. Ideal water temp is about 68f. My understanding is the bad shit can't grow (root rot) in sub 68 temps. Ever since I added a chiller to my dwc my roots have shown no bad signs whatsoever. In DWC where the roots are in a constant bath of nutrient, high temps are a plant killer. I can't speak for any of the flood and drain type systems.

Just a fyi if this is dwc. (I havent looked back at your thread and can't remember one thread from the next half the time).

Even when I scroll through all of the pics it only shows that I added 2 at the most even if I added 5 or 6. The first time I uploaded pics all of them were loaded. Not sure what I am doing wrong but thanks.

It looks like I better haul my but down to the hydro store before I loose everything. BTW what is a dwc?

The only reason the plants look yellow is because I can't get my camera set right to take good color and definition at the same time. They are actually a very dark green. I was looking at another forum and someone said with H202 you run the risk of killing beneficial bacteria along with beneficial bacteria. And I also read that only applies to organic ferts. Anyone want to chime in on that? With this rain that we got after a long hot dry spell I should be a little less susceptible to these problems for the time being.
I will be going down to the hydro store and picking up DM Zone. I don't want to loose these ladies now.

Sorry I didn't mean that your plants looked yellow, just the lighting. A hps bulb has a kelvin rating around 2200k and puts out a yellowish colored light which is what you want during your flowering period. A mh bulb has a higher kelvin rating and puts out a blueish color light which is best for your veg period.

Bass and I are pros at root rot!
I am sorry. lol

Oh so much to learn. YIKES

Well I just got back from the hydro store and hardware store. I picked up a dehumidifier at the hardware store. I thought about getting an AC unit but with the cold weather coming and the fact that I am going to build a real grow room in my garage soon I thought I would just get the dehumidifier for now. I picked up some h202 some hygrozyme and dyna-gro Pro-Tekt. I didn't write down the names of the products you guys suggested so this is what the store suggested.

Do you think it would be a good idea to switch to a MH bulb for the last week or two of veg or wait and pick one up for my next crop?
