Day 45: Today I watered the girls when I got home from work and then turned on my exhaust fan so my humidity doesn't spike again... the only downside is that it cools the tent down to about 70 which sucks... but I'll take cooler temps over high humidity.... I think I want to start feeding soonish... I don't think I could make a big enough batch with one 5 Gallon bucket and I don't know if the small pump I have is really enough to bubble then enough... but maybe I could just do like 4 gallons and not have any runoff... I still don't think the pump is good enough to bubble that but I suppose it will have to work for now...
You could put them on different feeding schedules. Bubble enough nutes for 1 or 2 of them today, feed tomorrow, make another batch tomorrow, feed remaining girls with it. Basically you will be bubbling nutes everyday but its not like YOUR actually bubbling them lol. So shouldnt be a biggie. I was using a 5 gallon bucket when I first started but got tired of scooping it out, and couldnt really dump the bucket straight into the plants due to scrog. Plus my girls were wanting different stuff. So I went to 4 milk jugs. That way I can make different strengths of Nutes for the different needs. plus, like I said, I was getting tired of using a Wendys cup to scoop out the nutes. Im sure there is a better way to get them out of the bucket but that seemed the fastest.
As far as run off goes. Iv read several different theories on that.
1 states that one should always water and feed till run off. So there becomes no hot spots in the soil, and all soil is soaked evenly. Also helps keep from the build up of salts. As well as other reasons Im sure lol.
2/ states that one should never feed until run off as its just a waste of nutes. In this method you feed them about 60 or 80 percent (i may have JUST made that up) before runoff. And when you water, you water until you have plenty of runoff to avoid salt build up.
3/ states that one should never feed or water until run off, Just flush between veg and bloom, and then again before harvest.
Im a fan of the first. I like to make sure that ALL of my soil is getting all the rich nutes and Microbes that it can get. I also, if I have time, like to give them about half or so of the nutes, wait a bit to allow the salts to break down a bit, so when I give it the rest of the nutes, It washes away as much salt build up as possible without a solution. This of course is just how I do it and none of which, as far as I know, are based on any actual science. Just Bro science. Im actually interested to get other peoples take on this subject. As some people dont really do any of those 3. Some give a small bit of water or nutes everyday. And seem to have great plants. So I have no clue whats right or wrong.
