So I am thinking of topping Grace and Summer tomorrow morning but I think I want to top lower than the top node... is that a bad idea... I assume everything will be fine... I did make some pics to show you what I'm kinda talking about... The reasons I want to top below the top node is so 1. the other girls can catch up. and 2. so the 2 main shoots start off lower on the plant... does this all sound reasonable... meh... here are the pics

Day 13: I topped Grace and Summer... Grace doesn't look to happy about it but will get over it... Summer looks like she didn't even care... I decided to try and turn the tops into clones we will see how that goes... Still haven't watered Summer, Barbie, or Bonnie... I've noticed Barbie hasn't grown much but then I remembered that I scrapped her stalk and put clone-x on it so she is probably just focusing on building roots... she looks like she might be ready for water soon so I might just water the 3 tomorrow morning which will be 12 days since I last watered them... I'm waiting for Barbie to grow a little more before I top her but I don't think I will try to clone that one... how about some pics

Hey Josh! Found your journal over at Canna and Nis's place. Everything is looking good! I'm wondering if you have some rigid insulation under your tent? It look like the tent is on a concrete floor, heat sink. Is see the plants are raised up a little bit, have you considered putting a table in there to raise em up more? A small humidifier would do wonders. I have the same lights which I use for seedlings, clones and early veg when my Goliath has a flowering girl under it. I wanted to say hi and drop a couple ideas. They're looking good! :thumb:

@weenmeoff I just have a piece of cardboard under the tent to kinda try and insulate... I did think of the rigid insulation but don't have any at the moment and now that I have everything set up it would be kind of difficult to get it under the tent but that is a great idea I know someone who might have 2" ridged insulation... but right now I just have them on upside down saucers so I am trying to keep it off the floor... haven't thought of really going higher (to insulate more from the ground? Or to get closer to the lights?) I can always lower the lights if I need to... I could probably use a small humidifier for sure the funds are really low right now so maybe in the future... I'll put it on the list of things I want/ need for the future I should probably look into dehumidifier also for when flowering comes along... thanks for the tips...

Yea I was thinking along the lines of getting them away from the cold floor and it looks like you have lots of room, for now at least. I got a great humidifier for $60 new but you could probably get a good one from craigslist or a thrift shop for $10-$20. I was told to keep my rh for my flowering girls at 50-55 so unless your rh is running high then a dehumidifier may not be needed but it seems like most have one. Sliding the insulation under the tent is actually pretty easy. I've done it with lights and filter hanging in it, just took the plants out just in case.

Keep up the good work. I look forward to seeing their progress.

:passitleft:

Ok you got me I ordered a humidifier for like $26 on eBay... as far as I knew I thought you were supposed to keep humidity below 50% when flowering but I'm sure when I get to that stage my exhaust fan will do the trick... 50-60 sounds right for veg and non rooted clones should be like 60-80... I am no expert though...

So funny thing I watered grace on the 15th it's the 19th and her pot feels pretty dry... she looks thirsty and I poked my pinky down as far as I could and it felt bone dry... hard to believe she went through the water in 4 days though... maybe I didn't saturate it enough last time... so I think I'm going to water her again today.... I was hoping to wait a week I'll take some pics before I water and maybe again later today to see if she perks
Back up...

I think I'll top Barbie like the day after her next water I think she will probably go 6-7 days from the day I watered her till she is thirst again... I think she will have grown enough to be ready she is kinda tall but she doesn't have a lot of foliage...

I know that feeling. I got so all kinds of stuff in my wishlist on amazon. Alot of which I dont "have" to have right now but would be nice. :) some of which I need but dont "need" right at this moment. And I have spent a FORTUNE on all my new stuff. So I really need to put the brakes on.

As far as RH goes in flower. I agree. Below 50 in flower and if you can get it down to like 20 in the last couple weeks would be good to. At least that was my understanding. But what do I know. I read that in seedling/veg stage a high RH is good and speeds growth. But in flower I was under the impression that a lower RH will force the flowers to produce more oils and trichomes trying to protect from the dry air. My Rh for my last grow was in the 20s, sometimes 30s, and It gave me some of the oiliest, trichome covered buds Iv ever seen. But I could see the argument against it too.

Your girls look great bro. Nive color. They look really healthy.

Day 18: When I got home from work today the girls were super thirsty... temps in the tent were 86 and the humidity was down to 29%... my "swamp cooler"/humidifier ran out of water... I just made it with a fan some paper towels and a saucer with water... when it doesn't all dry up it keeps the humidity in the 50's... I don't know if I have a pic of it but I will take one if I don't... here are some pics of the girls...

Day 20: All of the girls are looking good... 3 of the pots are light already... So everybody except Barbie are going to be ready for water again either tomorrow morning or the next day... they are going through water pretty fast so I'm guessing they are almost ready to transplant... I still need to get soil so hopefully that will happen this weekend... no pics today...

Yea, they look to be exploding. :goodjob: Looking real good bro. You should have cloned those tops and then put THEM outside. Or vise versa. Iv still yet dip my hand in cloning. Im thinking of trying it later this year. After the summer. As far as soil.....I hear ya on that. I am not in a place that has nurseries or anything like that. So I have to buy my FFOF online. Which means I pay about $70 for a $7 or $10 bag of dirt. Thats with shipping and everything but DAMN! Thats alot of money for dirt. And then put on top of that, the fact that I dont have an actual mailbox. I use PO boxes. And they wont deliver my dirt to a po box for some reason. SO I must send it to my moms house. And lie about whats in the boxes. And hope she doesnt look. (shes nosey) So last time I went ahead and bought 4 bags. That way I dont need soil for a bit. I am going to try and find someplace that sells it in a 100 mile area. And hopefully I will find a place and then I will just make the drive. Buy 20 bags and be done for a while.

I would be pulling my hair out if I had to pay 70 for a bag of soil... I think last time I bought soil (last grow) I saw some amazon bloom from earth juice but didn't want to pay $23 for a bag vs $13 for FFOF... I cloned the tops of the grapefruit and strawberry Cough... haven't seen any roots yet but they look to be growing... well after I wake up a little more I'm going to water 3 of the girls... Grace is already pretty droopy... Summer and Bonnie look like they are just starting to droop... and Barbie isn't ready for water yet... My mom would only be pissed about me growing if I didn't share when she's around...

Day 21: watered Grace, Bonnie, and Summer the ph of the water looked low (I only have ph strips right now a blue lab ph pen and ppm pen are on my list of things I need) so I added 1/4 tsp God Silica (potassium silicate which has a high ph) after that ph seemed to be about 6.5ish... The runoff of all of them seemed kinda low (6.0ish) so next time I water I might shoot for a ph of around 6.8-7... here are some pics of the girls
