How to Make Feminized Seeds With Colloidal Silver - Sponsored by Intelligent-Gro LED

Re: How to Make Feminized Seeds with Colloidal Silver - Sponsored by Intelligent-Gro

The strains I'm working with are all regular seeds.

So I wait to identify the females before spraying Colloidal Silver.

I pick the best one to make pollen, so it spreads it's genetics to the others.

So I start when the plant I choose lets me know I can start.

If you were working with feminized seeds you could start spraying early.

But with these I have to wait for pistils to show up.

I have Auto Fem's. So I was just not sure if I wait for flowering to start or do it on first signs of pre flower. Etc.

Also can I start a section to produce pollen. Pollinate the rest. Cut the "male" potion off so I can put back with the other auto fem. Or is that going to cause other issues.

Sorry if this makes no sense. Total noob.

I just have 2 autos going. And I would like to seed one out. Yet maintain a normal harvest on the other. And I can separate them briefly. But doing this stealth from the women.. So limited on space to hide a plant other than the indoor garden (veggies) but clearly can't hide 2-3 ft tall bud plant for long before she wants to see the veggies.

Here ya go BAR. This is for you. :)

I thought I'd take two photos to demonstrate the sleepy time effect.

C5-NIGHT-DAY-01.png

This first photo was taken last night, and shows the droopy leaves.

C5-NIGHT-DAY-02.png

This second photo is from this morning, and show the sun seeking leaves.

I'm not at all claiming some kinda scientific discovery. haha

I just noticed my plants tend to act like this. What they're really doing idk?

Hey Toker!!! Really like how your journal is going, very informational!!! I know that from what I have read, plants do not react to light in the morning, but rather "anticipate" the daybreak, because of their circadian rhythm so this is probably why you see the plants reacting in the morning with good posture, even before the lights come on. The plants have an internal clock that regulates when the plant should start its daytime processes, and even though influenced by light, is not a direct cause/effect of the lights turning on, but more like when you wake up every day at the same time, and don't need your alarm clock anymore, you just wake up at that time :)

As far as the leafs sagging in the evening, I read that photosynthesis is strongest in the morning hours, goes through a mid day depression and slowly and gradually gets weaker as the day goes on, so I would assume that this has something to do with why the leaves towards the end of the day sag. Mine do it too.. Pretty cool how plants respond to the environment.

Anyhow, great journal so far Toker!!!!

I wanted to invite you over to my current journal to check out how my buds are doing...so far with my intelligent Gro lights, very dense, frosty nugs!! I also have a special surprise that I will be revealing later today or tomorrow, so definitely check it out if you get a chance :)

Re: How to Make Feminized Seeds with Colloidal Silver - Sponsored by Intelligent-Gro

I guess I can just "male" half of one. And let it pollinate the rest of her and the other However seems a lot wasted. But would give a ton of seeds.

I'm considering the self pollination I'm doing experimental.

And not really recommending at this point.

From what I've read many times it can be unsuccessful.

If you wanna be sure, and get seeds spray Colloidal Silver on a whole female plant.

And pollinate the other. If you wanna try this along with me go for it.

We can both post results, and move forward together.

Good info thanks. My interpretation was kinda simplified.

Still it seems to amount to the same thing.

We say we're sleepy, or tired, but our blood sugars are low. (or something)

What I was pointing out was the plants are showing symptoms of wanting rest.

And how that might help you determine a proper autoflower light schedule.

Here's that PS photo again from sunday. 6/8

PS-02.png

And here's one from today. Just three days later. 6/11

PS-6-11.png

The C5 is also growing fast, and has gone from 22 to 27 inches. WOW

Yeah thats right! Five inches in three days. This thing is taking over my grow space.

Ill be right there with you on testing theself pollination. I have noticed that if i up the spray to 2-3 times a day at just the bud sites it has a slightly better effect. And to prevent crossings or stray pollen i will be using clear bags to contain the blooming pollen sacks(close them up around the stem when they are soon to pop). I do this with a few other plants i have to insure a good pollination and keep other things out while im pollinating. Hope this helps.

Yeah I saw you talking about it in your journal.

The only flaw I see is you not knowing for sure if your baggies held.

Having only one pollen type at a time is how I know theres no contamination.

Because you got several types handling every step perfectly still won't give you peace of mind.

You'll be left wondering for the duration of growing out your seeds.

It's not very important really.

Except that knowing exactly what to expect helps in your gardens planning.

Re: How to Make Feminized Seeds with Colloidal Silver - Sponsored by Intelligent-Gro

I hear ya on that one. To ensure that the baggies hold i set up a system awhile back to make sure they were sealed. I recheck it every spring as that is when most of my pollinating takes place. I have a seperate room where i do all the pollinating and the baggies are water tight as well once they are applied. I work for a local nursery and grow roses for them every year so i have had to come up with some surefire ways to keep all the strains seperate. It eats up alot of my time but the final outcome is so worth it. As i get to that point in my grow i will add in the pics so everyone can see. May not work for everyone but it works for me till i find and easier way to manage 100+ different plants.

C5-POLLEN-01.png

Day 20 of Colloidal Silver spraying for the C5 auto, and the first signs of nanners.

Nanners, or sacs brings the same result. Feminized seeds.

The nanners seem to to show up if the plant is being stubborn, and resisting the change.

You get fewer nanners, and the pollen itself is problematic.

It's kinda moist, clumpy, and low volume. Still it works fine tho.

First they're greenish, then turn yellow, and then get a brown tip.

This is when I start plucking them, and dropping the nanner pods on buds.

They dry out, and drop a pollen payload straight into the bud.

From what I can tell a nanner is like a sausage. A clear skin packed with pollen.

Once dry they're empty translucent skins are all thats left.

Nanners are a result of stress. It's like hitting the buds with a Colloidal Silver hammer.

Sacs are a biochemical reaction of Colloidal Silver blocking a female hormone.

Both work to get seeds, but nanners need more time, and effort to get a high number of seeds.

Much of what I've written here is based on personal experience.

And a botanist may have a even better more accurate explanation,

but I wish to share my thoughts because information is scarce on this subject.

more-c5-sacs.png

And hours later that same day. REAL SACS! lol

Well I think so anyway. I'm definitely feeling positive about things right now. :)

Re: How to Make Feminized Seeds with Colloidal Silver - Sponsored by Intelligent-Gro

I can now see that the carmel 5 is producing sacs everywhere on the lower branches.

I'm using the same mixed bottle of Colloidal Silver I started this journal with,

And have only used about 4oz's out of my little 8oz spray bottle I filled for the C5.

I used the paper plate method up until the last three days.

At that point the plant was large enough that I could easily spray the right areas without.

The plant maintained a healthy appearance throughout this whole procedure.

Reaffirming my belief that you don't need to trash your plant with multiple daily spraying.

And you don't need to hose down every leaf every time. Just the nodes, and buds.

Browning, and withered pistils will happen, and then sacs, and nanners appear.

Re: How to Make Feminized Seeds with Colloidal Silver - Sponsored by Intelligent-Gro

sounds like everythings moving along here Toker :thumb:
the chemdog im spraying looks like its taking
might only be able to use the mom tho for pollinating the other chemdog clone looks like shit
used sns it didn't work they are still crawling around I notice they probably are the problem of my leaves dying
never saw them before im gonna go look in the ole marijuana garden saver book lol
so im gonna use some neem oil and soap and see if that works
neem oil seems to work for most pests
don't even know where they came from don't have them on my hydro plants tho
must be a soil thing at least I still got something I can pollinate
and it seems they don't like the plant im spraying with the cs much lol
anywho catch you later man :peace:

Re: How to Make Feminized Seeds with Colloidal Silver - Sponsored by Intelligent-Gro

Someone will probably rip my butt for saying this, but you could lay down some heavy duty pesticide.

Just to harvest the seeds, and chuck out the tainted buds. If you need to just to save your genetics.

I know theres stuff you're only supposed to use on ornamental plants. (not for human consumption)

That's one of the great things about having seeds is you can tear things down to stop invaders, and just start over.

Re: How to Make Feminized Seeds with Colloidal Silver - Sponsored by Intelligent-Gro

theres no buds on it yet
and funny thing is the og kush I got finishing up in the same area those same bugs
aren't on it
so maybe it don't like the resin or the cs im spraying on the other chemdog
go figure I mean I may have found a few on the cs plant but very minimal compared to the others
and none on the og kush

Re: How to Make Feminized Seeds with Colloidal Silver - Sponsored by Intelligent-Gro

I've been real lucky so far, and have remained bug free. (knock on wood)

I cringe at the thought of losing any of my precious genetics.

Good luck to ya man I hope you're successful in your battle against the bugs!!

Do you feel if I spray one Human interaction is best to pollinate? Or just let it do its own thing since they are in the same area?

I will definitely join you in your testing. I just want to get some seeds banked up for experiments. So I will sacrifice the two I have now for that purpose then start the testing.

Re: How to Make Feminized Seeds with Colloidal Silver - Sponsored by Intelligent-Gro

its not a big deal I got a couple more chemdog seeds
I can try again later I don't wanna lose my unknown tho lol
but hey if I have to I just let everything current grow out and let them finish
clean everything up good let the bugs forget about my plants for awhile let them depart
then start a new grow and journal lol
if worse comes to worse
that way I can get rid of the gnats too
then ill avoid soil all together never had bugs till soil I can hydro the cs plants I got a Rubbermaid container I can use for
the ones im not spraying and I can make a small container for the cs one just gotta flower them as early as possible cause they don't grow like soil plants lol

Sure join in man. This threads all about getting people to try making seeds.

But my self pollination is moving to the successful stage. haha.

At least it's looking real positive right now.

I'm not sure the numbers of seeds will be where I like, but I'll be happy to get a few.

Really I like pollinating a full one, two, or even three plants.

Get my seed numbers over the top into the ridiculous amounts I'll never use.

I feel safe in that zone. haha

But still self pollination is cool thing to pull off, but without a few hundred seeds

I'll just end up doing it again sometime, and that's a drag, but these cool auto genetics might be worth it.

Yeah hydro is definitely interesting, and I'll try it one day.

I'm happy with my coco mix tho. So easy it's almost foolproof.

I've done soil grows, and your right. Too many problems for me.

I might try some mineralizing my coco soon like our buddy BID tho. idk
