How To Make Concentrated Cannabis Oil

I chopped my Ice plant today. I should have around 3 oz to work with. Does the bud need to be completely cured (4-6 weeks) or just well dried? If I dry till it is well dried then put it in the freezer, will that be ok? Or should I Jar it and cure it? :peace:

Don't put it into the freezer. That will create chaos with fresh bud.
The oil will be only as good as the flower. You're call: cure/dry or just dry.
If just drying, put it on a tray in the oven at 100°f (no hotter or you lose terpenes & oils) for an hour. This will not affect your potency, bud, oil, ect.
Grind it up & recheck the moisture. If still wet, back to the oven for 15-30 mins.
Note that this is NOT decarbing.
Unless you're in a hurry, I'd dry it well by hanging for at least 3-4 days, then jar it up & burb it.
For oil, I wouldn't cure over 2 weeks.

Whatever type you choose, don't get bud rot/mold.

I don't mind letting it dry on it's own. I have it all hanging in my drying area now. I just wasn't sure if I should go the whole Jarring and curing or If I could go from my drying lines into the freezer. (not fresh and wet :) ) :peace:

Drying to jars keeps illness afar. Sorry, it's Hump Day.
Even when the branches are crisp & snap, there's still tons of moisture inside the buds. To bring that out, you need to cure. Dried buds are only dry on the exterior. If you had frozen it, the moisture inside the buds reeks havoc on the trichomes, will pull chlorophyll, & makes the oil nasty.

OK. So the correct answer is Don't rush it. Cure the buds and wait for the oil. I have being working over a year to get to this point. I can wait a few more weeks. :) :peace:

My father has cancer and i remember reading about the healing properties of cannabis oil...now im trying to make some. You guys seem to know a lot about that and are willing to share information to others which is a big help. I was interested in knowing if using a rice cooker is mandatory or can i use pans and create a double boil? Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this...

This is the right place bud.
A rice cooker is not necessary. You could absolutely use pans/dbl boiler. Using a non-stick, organic skillet was not really an option when Jack Herer & Rick Simpson were spreading the love.

Ok thanks a lot. Now i just need to work on getting the oil in the damn syringes! It seems like im letting the oil get too thick before i try the syringes

Hello,

After stripping the cannabis with the solvent, can you keep it in a storage container to evaporate the mix at a later time or does one immediately have to cook it?

I was planning on stripping the cannibis and putting the mix into a glass jar for later but am not sure if this would have any negative implications.

Thanks in advance

Absolutely. Put it in the freezer.

Hey y'all:Love:

Had to jump in to tell ya some more great news. I slept for 8 1/2 hours last night!!!!!!!!!!!:yahoo:

Doesn't sound like much to you?:hmmmm:

It has been decades, DECADES, since I slept through the night. A VERY big deal to me. I have prostate cancer. Peeing many times a night. Wow, what a good feeling to sleep all night! Had to pee like a race horse come morning!:bravo:

Used the extra energy to make more great night time oil. 8 grams from 1/2 the girl scout cookie popcorn I was GIVEN. All glory!

:party::theband::party:

Sleep is a very good thing 94xxx. Our bodies require by design to have 8 hours of sleep per day, so yes it's a big deal when you can achieve that without disturbing it many times during the process.

I'm very happy for you, now let's hope it's a new welcomed trend for your system and that it continues!

My friend Steve just said sleep is good, but at my age you don't want to be "pissin'" the bed!

I'll risk it.:thumb:

Thanks Cannafan!

Congratulations John, first (GOOD) night sleep in DECADES.........that's big. :circle-of-love::Love::thumb::high-five::bravo::cheertwo:

And thank you for helping tptb73, he needed to hear your story. :Namaste::adore:

Really BIG!!! Thank you so much RSOiler. I know you know what strength kind words like yours carry. The whole night!!! Woweee!!!:goodjob:

Was making second batch of GSCookie oil for night-night when I was attacked by what could only be described as a flight of gigantic Southern mosquitoes. Got it through the coffee filters, but I'm not risking my life going out there again. Hope it's OK overnight in those SS buckets, covered by the coffee filters.:thumb: Big bugs.

Ran out and covered with air tight lid. The earth is safe tonight!
