Homer's Legal 4-Plant Max Perpetual Minimalist Garden In Ontario

Indicas I run 18/6 as well as most hybrids.
Okay good, I thought I was really losing it there, LOL. That's what I run all my plants at but I have only run mostly indicas. Somewhat mind-blowing to find out how different sativa's are.

Mel Frank claims the Original Haze took around 3-4 months to veg and show pre flowers then take as long as 180 days to flowers. We’re talking 9 months. Neville crosses NL5 with a pure Haze make then selected all the Haze leaners. The only indica trait he selected for was faster flowering time. The A5 Haze and the C5 Haze still take 100-120 days to flower. By growing from clones you skip the veg period because the mother is already sexually mature. The Nevilles Haze is NL#5 x Haze A (male) x Haze C (male)

How interesting. That is amazing. You certainly are an endless source of cannabis trivia. Too bad there isn't a cannabis Jeopardy, you would clean up! I did wonder why there was NL in some Sativa strains. How long do you expect the Nevilles Haze to take?

I’m hoping 16 weeks. Lol
Hmmm... My GG is on week 20 and 5 days, so yea, I think you got a shot!! :headbanger::oops:

I just realized you may be serious and mean 16 wks of bloom and if so ignore the above comment.

16 weeks is what I’m hoping for anyway
I just read some site that says Neville Haze is 14-16 wks so you are in the ball part. I am sure it will work out.

I’m a longer flower time will be more hazey
The longer I leave the GG the frostier it looks. I think from the trichs going cloudy maybe? But it does look like an improvement.

Should be excellent smoke or vape.
It sure looks like it. Too bad I put it under the blurple because the pics of it suck now. I will take some nice ones before I harvest under good lighting of its frosty buds.

Plants can't flower until they're sexually mature no matter what!
Hmmm... I don't understand then why after getting 13 hours of dark their whole lives they are not sexually mature when after less than a week with just 12 hours of dark my BB is already budding? So what makes a plant sexually mature I don't understand?

A female plant won’t flower until she reaches sexual maturity no matter the light schedule. But under 11/13 she flowers just as soon as she matures. 11/13 speeds it up slightly. You can have a sexually mature female at 1 month but under 18/6 lighting it could stay in veg for years.

Hey Homer! Plants look great! I’ve got a Dr. Seeds Bruce Banner auto and it’s a dud... only 13 inches, went to flower in 3 weeks, and has weird little buds on it. I’m now beginning to understand how growing photos actually might be the better way to go. Being able to control the veg stage is beginning to be a little more appealing. :cheesygrinsmiley: I’m curious about that super crop. Did you tie it down once you did the 90 degree bend? That’s what I’ve done (and I have had to do some serious cropping with my Cindy 99s!), based on @InTheShed ‘s link. It has worked great. Can’t wait to see your final harvest!
@BooWho2 ...Im on the fence too. Two good photo grows and its now my grow style. However won some auto seeds with BIG promises. Four weeks in on the XL autos and Im very interested. Time will tell...but not much time.

Again, interesting. I thought sexual maturity was dependent on the light cycle. Like a plant would start to flower at practically any age if it was given a short day of light.

So what does a plant's sexual maturity depend on, just time depending on genetics? I think someone said a cutting is sexually mature like the mom so it will flower right away?

Homer...great close ups. Good reference for new growers...you can SEE clear, cloudy and amber. Helps understand trichome v pistil condition v age.
Thanks, cr8grow. Never thought of it like that. Always a new perspective out here! :thumb:

Just a little more info to help @Homer Simpson understand.

Sexual maturity is genetic, as you guessed. Most hybrids are generally in the 6 to 8 week range to reach sexual maturity. For Landrace & IBLs, sexual maturity depends greatly one where the strains originated or have acclimated to as they are outdoor and wild strains.

The closer a strain originated to the equator, the longer the time it takes to reach maturity due to day/night hours being equal - 12/12 year round. This allows them to reach decent size before initiating flowering.

The farther you get from the equator, the longer they get to grow before day length drops enough to flower. I live less than 1/2 mile from the 45th parallel and here flowering will usually start when the day length is 14 to 14.5 hrs for plants outside. As an aside, many older hybrids (clones who came from seed plants grown outside) will often start flowering indoors under 14.5 hrs light.
