Homer's Legal 4-Plant Max Perpetual Minimalist Garden In Ontario

This may seem unrelated, sort of, but I have spent most of my life mentoring carpenters and concrete workers, and also studied chemistry and biology in my late 20s as part of my engineering, putting the science into layman’s terms, so my apprentices understand the concepts, just comes naturally to me.

Its a small leap from that to the science behind botany, and although I am not always able to put in into layman’s terms, I do my best to help where I can :)

Just a little more info to help @Homer Simpson understand.

Sexual maturity is genetic, as you guessed. Most hybrids are generally in the 6 to 8 week range to reach sexual maturity. For Landrace & IBLs, sexual maturity depends greatly one where the strains originated or have acclimated to as they are outdoor and wild strains.

The closer a strain originated to the equator, the longer the time it takes to reach maturity due to day/night hours being equal - 12/12 year round. This allows them to reach decent size before initiating flowering.

The farther you get from the equator, the longer they get to grow before day length drops enough to flower. I live less than 1/2 mile from the 45th parallel and here flowering will usually start when the day length is 14 to 14.5 hrs for plants outside. As an aside, many older hybrids (clones who came from seed plants grown outside) will often start flowering indoors under 14.5 hrs light.
Very interesting, Celt. Thanks for the explanation. I did suspect that ruderalis came from close to the equator where the length of day wouldn't change much throughout the seasons.

That’s me, I have a degree in biology from 83’ but still tuff to explain things in layman’s terms.
That is very cool. Goes a long way explaining the vast depth and breadth of your cannabis knowledge. What you said about, Genetics and Botany get complicated fast, I can totally relate to. My niece just got her Masters degree in biology this year and because of the pandemic, she did her thesis defence online so it was recorded so I got to watch it which was pretty cool. After the first five minutes of a general introduction, I didn't understand anything for the next half hour so I do concur. Unfortunately, her big brain didn't come from our side of the family.

I can see thing perfectly in my head but putting it on paper is something I have always had problems with. Hmm maybe i am to high? No that can't be it I am going to twist one up and think about it.
I'm no genius and every evening I am medicated and that sure doesn't help in composing my posts. It can take me 10 minutes to write like two sentences late in the evening, LOL. I do enjoy it more though.

I got my degree in Biology and went to work at the Columbus Zoo when Jack Hanna first took over. But cleaning snake cages for minimum wage got old so I moved on.
Besides the cleaning crap part that is so cool. I remember Jack Hanna from the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. He was like an absent-minded professor and there was always some fiasco of some sort; I always enjoyed his segments. Sorry to hear it didn't work out for you.

Jack made the Columbus Zoo what it is and Columbus made Jack who he is.

I just discovered the Columbus Zoo is in Ohio! I always assumed it was in California because he was on the talk shows that are located there.

I just had a 2 year degree, no masters here.

That counts too, my friend.
