Homer's Legal 4-Plant Max Perpetual Minimalist Garden In Ontario

I’ve felt like it, we were the second largest first of the month store in a city of over 1 million. You can imagine the crowds we got.
Sounds very stressful.

As an off-topic post, I have either given away or sold my nicest chef knives so I decided to make one for myself which I just finished today.

It is 12" long and made from 1095 carbon steel with a Rockwell hardness of about 61 which is still nice and hard but won't be prone to chipping.

The handle is made from Desert Ironwood which is a wood I really love to work with. It's usually nicely figured and good and hard and has very fine closed grain so when I take it up to 2000 grit sandpaper it feels like glass. I then applied two coats of Tung Oil.

I took the main bevel down to about .010" before I put on the final cutting bevel so it is a real slicer. I also sharpen my cutting edge up to 3000 grit sandpaper or stones so it is literally razor-sharp and can shave the hair off my arm.

I leave the cutting edge on the tip much thicker so in case I have to do any stabbing the tip will hold up and not break off. Really happy how it turned out.
Homer...I made a knife from a file in 8th grade shop...imagine doing that now. My son has that knife today. I really appreciate the quality of your knife...Im a bit of a collector. I also turned a great aluminum pipe with a threaded bowl that same shop class...lost somehow playing Frisbee in a local Michigan park around 1977. Great craftsmanship.

Thanks, cr8grow. You must have had quite the cool instructor making weapons and drug paraphernalia in shop class, lol.

I’ve made a couple blades from files. I always had another buddy do the handle.
I have never used a file to make one but I have seen lots online made from files. I watched tons of knife making YouTube vids or I wouldn't have had a clue how to make a handle.

Well..he was cool and clueless. He wasnt aware of everything we were up to down on the shop floor. He also didnt know we would take pinch hitters upstairs in the locker deck. Made quite a few nice pipes and roach clips in that class. I just dated myself.

i was much good with handles really.
Probably no Internet back then; I learned all my knife making tips online, mostly on, Blade Forums, website along with YouTube. I'm sure if you had those resources then you would have made a spiffy handle! :) I also learned how to distill alcohol on, Home Distiller, and how to grow weed on this site. Some people may not think the Internet has been good for me but I beg to differ, LOL.

I figured he had to be a little bit clueless or not care about his job. I should have taken more shop classes in high school but I was mimicking my older brother so I was being a scholar but that didn't quite work out, LOL. Sounds like a fun class you had.

My Gorilla Glue is coming along nicely with a good sound structure and it has a nice vertical main stalk which I find is important later in life because my 1:20 started falling over at the end because it didn't get a good straight start and had a bit of a lean.

My Gorilla Glue originally had a bit of a lean to it so I tried to straighten it by placing a piece of wood beside it to force it upright and then the next day it was laying on the ground the opposite way to what it was leaning. So I screwed that right up, LOL. So I staked her with a little piece of wire and finally got her straight after a few adjustments over a few days. Other than that she is doing swimmingly now.

Looks like she's going to be a nice squat good trainee. When I do my quadlinging I have been leaving the third and fourth branch as the secondary's for my structure but I noticed the branches that come out of the third node are always substantially smaller in diameter than the fourth node branches so I was thinking if I go up one if they will be more even; we shall see. That will also help with watering to keep the lower branches a little higher even if it doesn't even things up.

I am quite pleasantly surprised what an amazing camera my iPhone 7 has. The Canon camcorder I bought won't focus nearly as close and doesn't seem as sharp as my iPhone and using just a dim spotlight on these pics the camcorder had terrible quality with the lack of light so I switched to my iPhone and they are as sharp as with bright light. Also, I figured out how to lock the focus and exposure on my iPhone by holding down for a few seconds on the screen whatever I want to focus on.

Great knife Homer, its got great look as well as functional, will last an eternity. Did you put your signature on it.? Always such a great dark green colour in your plants, you def got a green thumb. Cheers

Thanks, BudShard. No, I didn't put my signature on it. Most people etch their logo or name on their knives using a battery charger and vinegar but you need a stencil for that and I haven't gotten around to looking into getting one so I will be known after I am dead as the unknown knife maker, LOL.

My plants are definitely good and green during veg but I'm still finding keeping them green in flower a challenge. My Gorilla Glue is starting to lose a few lower leaves so I'm going to up my MegaCrop from 5 to 5.5 g per gallon. Still learning.
