HMG's Hempy Grow 2011 Blue Cheese - Herijuana Jack 33

Re: HMG's Hempy Grow 2011 Blue Cheese, Herijuana Jack 33

HMG,

Nice pun... always a shitty thing to deal with... yep, the main drain had to be replaced. what a job that was.

I was wondering about the seed thing, I don't know if you've look at my journal, but my plants hermied and I got some seeds that I think I'm going to try...I have to make sure it's cool enough here in MI before I start again, I had a horrible time with the heat/hum with my last grow. I want to avoid that issue again.

How are you rooting those clones you took?

I do not have alot of experience in seeds from hermed plants, but if it were me and I had the seeds, I would try a couple with some quality seeds to better my chances of a successful crop.

As far as the clones I have them in peat pellets on top a layer of perlite on the lid of a gladware container with the bottom as a dome. Hope that makes sense. I will post some pics if it works out, if not I will try again next time.

Hi HMG,

Don't wait...post pics now, I'd like to see it, even if it doesn't work out, it's a learning experience for us all...

Clones

So for my clones I took peat pellets soaked them in 2 quarts ph 5.5 water with 2.5ml Big Bloom.

Took clones dipped in Schultz take root and stuck them in the pellets. I take a simple clear gladware plastic container turn it upside down. I put a layer of perlite on the lid, and set pellets on the perlite.

Use bottom of container as a dome. I have the dome on for about 23 hours a day. Clones go under 2 26W CFL's 6500K about 20" from the clones. I mist the pellets 4 times a day. I didn't mist the clones themselves though.

I took these clones on 8/10

First pic is from 8/13

Tonight I saw a root and all the clones have started yellowing and a litte twisting in the leaves so I think these are signs that they were ready to be put in soil.

I made a mini dirty Hempy to help promote root growth.

Good job! I am always impressed when someone can clone a strain using those methods, and do it so fast!

:thumb:

I never had much luck cloning that way. Maybe it is the strains I grow or something, but until I bought my cloner, I had terrible results with my cuttings.

Again... Good job! :)

Thank you GG7, I wish I had the space for a cloner, but I have to make do with what I have. I do believe that the strain has alot to do with it as well.

I hope that they all make it so I can continue to improve in my growing abilities as well as learn what is best for these strains.

Re: HMG's Hempy Grow 2011 Blue Cheese, Herijuana Jack 33

Creative use of Tupperware. I think I'll try that when its time for me to clone

Thank you Dex, I found that this worked great for the little space I have availabe. So if it works I will put 1 clone from each into 1 gal smart pots after about a week or so and put them into 12/12 as well. I will let the other two veg for a little while that way I can take clones from them and then throw them in 12/12 as well.

I would like to start seeing what kind of amendments I can add to improve my plants.:yummy:

Still having an issue with both girls. I believe that N.W. Green had it right with the zinc def. As you can see the leaves are a light green and have a little twisting to them. Also they have some intervenial chlorosis and wispy leaves.

I have some azomite on the way to add to the soil and see if that helps any.

I thought I would also throw a pic of what the roots look like on the bottom of the smart pots.

Hey HMG,

Wow, to my untrained eye those plants look really good. But I'd listen to the experienced growers they know their stuff. I've never used the smart pots, are the roots suppose to grow out like that? Won't they die now? Or is that the point...I know OMM uses air pots for that reason.

Love the DIY cloner. Looks like it's going to work out for you. Keep posting those pics...we love 'em.

I am still new to this as well so I hope that my explanation will be clear. From what I gathered about the smart pots is that once the roots reach the side or the bottom they get air prunned which cause lateral growth of the roots instead of circling.

They are an all fabric pot so this helps to airate and release heat from the root zone.

Once I harvest these plants I will pull the root ball out and take pics, so we all can see how the root structure is with the use of these pots.

Looking VERY GOOD HMG!

:thanks: GG7.

Do you have any experience with azomite?

Re: HMG's Hempy Grow 2011 Blue Cheese, Herijuana Jack 33

One other thing I forgot to mention is I am still running my MH, I will continue to run this for the first 14 days of 12/12.

I would like to get any thoughts on this if you guys do not mind. ;)

Re: HMG's Hempy Grow 2011 Blue Cheese, Herijuana Jack 33

Great looking plants HomeMedGrower!:goodjob: They are very healthy, lush and green. Keep up the good work!

Good explanation of the Smart Pots, they do exactly what you stated. As for the rootball, it pretty much ends up being the entire pot. A weave of roots, most very thin, and its very difficult to remove from the pot.

Any theory on this? I have read switching back to the MH for the last two weeks of flower gives frostier flowers.

I have not. But I know it is used heavily down in the SJV. Lots of orchards down there.

Have you tried it?

Re: HMG's Hempy Grow 2011 Blue Cheese, Herijuana Jack 33

I think you should do exactly that....Just cuz lol.....

I have been reading a lot about using MH to help with limiting stretch. I have very litte space if you take into account my tent is 63" my filter is about 12" around then add the hieght of the pot and about 10 to 12" between the light and plants. I do not have a lot of room.

I am trying to learn every way possible that I can make the most of the space I have available.

I must say I am not the type of person how will do something just cause. :bongrip:
