Hempy Headquarters

@SweetSue uses drink pitchers that may be about a gallon. I'm also thinking those cheap, real thin plastic bathroom trash cans might work. I would love to find some square plastic pots about 12" tall that held about 1.5 gallons. I think they would be perfect.
I have about 18 1.5gal trash cans from wallet world I use 95% of the time
I have some 2.5gal if I wanna go big
Like these on the right are 2.5 and one 1.5 in the back

SERIOUSLY?? LOL You expect me to see anything in that jungle? HOLY COW!

I can't see the pots through the trees.

I have to go to Wally World and see what I can come up with there.

Beez, right on. SweetSue does use the 1gallon drink pitchers and tapes them up. I use a black waste paper basket I buy at Dollar Tree/Store and holding it over my face up to the light I see no light through it. Saves me the taping process.
I haven't experienced a harvest to judge yield yet, so I can't speak to that. I'm going with a slightly smaller size around 1.5 gallon and it does have a tapered bottom. Being oval I can fit three side by side in a two foot x 10inch space.

Here's another picture of one of my baskets getting ready to be planted. The hole in the center is from pushing a 32oz stadium cup to receive the new plant.
After the new plant is transferred. You might also notice the holes in the Rim for LST.

This is a 2x2.5 tent floor and the fabric pot is a 5gallon for comparison.

So the plant going into this hole is/was in a cup similar to a solo cup? And if so when removed did the roots hang onto the perlite? Was it a mass the shape of the cup? I think autos need to be transplanted much earlier, but for photos it's good information to retain.

Just got back from the Dollar Tree store where I found these. Plastic is thick enough that no light penetrates through. It holds 176 liquid ounces which is 1 gallon and 3 red solo cups of water. I think I can live with that.
These are the exact same ones that BT uses as far as I can tell.

Yep, You got the exact ones. Nice , Right??? Regarding your earlier question about the roots holding the Hempy together. Yes, if you let it grow enough like 4 weeks. With that I used Teads'd method of dry moving, were I just loosen the hempy/root and slide out over the hole I've made with the cup. The wet method SweetSue uses is great for younger plants where the roots aren't as developed. Cover the hempy cup hole and fill the cup with water until the hempy and plant float a little. Loosen and slide out letting the loose hempy fall into the prepared hole. Then gently place the roots and plant into place. This process either way is so easy and gentle that the plant hardly notices the move and immediately starts working towards the new reservoir at the bottom. I typically flood the new container with the hole blocked and then let it drain. It creates a wicking path for the roots through the perlite.

Edited because my brain types faster than my fingers do. You will find that with a lot of my posts. The real problem is I do type fast also, but fail to proof read like I should.

Yes, I think they'll be a good option for autos and photo plants both. Sweet Sue says she can grow very large plants in a 1 gallon pot with hempy. I currently have an un-sexed plant I am considering switching to hempy. I might however wait until it shows me it's sex and then decide what to do. But I do want to try a photoperiod plant in a hempy pot

I've switched dirt to hempy a few times, it works well if u decide to do it

Good to know. Thanks Chris
Any time

What I do like about the smaller hempy is more options for more plants/strains

I get great quality, maybe not huge yields, average 2-3 oz each, but i like the variety and strain testing ability

I do have to say I think the perlite is messier then the Pro Mix BX I typically use. I'm finding it everywhere! LOL

This is where I would like to go. What size container are you using that gives yields of 2-3oz. If it's the 1 - 1.5gal size I'd love it. I figure I can get at least 5-6 of these waste baskets in my 2x2.5 footprint tent. LST correctly and each should produce 4-6 colas. Plenty of variety, is also my goal, like two of each strain. Nice!!!
