Heavenly Hybrid 2nd Grow: Blackberry Kush, Coco Grow, LED450

Nice harvest here HH! I bet you glad this roller coaster is over but you ended up with some good looking buds. I think your next grow is going to go really smooth. You have learned a ton in a short period of time.

If I remember right, I feel like I remember @Amy Gardner and @InTheShed talking about multiple times transplanting being good for photo plants? If so, what are the sizes of pots you go through? I have 1,2,3 and 5 gallon fabric pots. I’m looking for advice (from everyone of course) on what sizes to progress through.

I read earlier about transplanting multiple times and you said you had multiple sized fabric pots but I only use hard pots up until they go into their final homes. If you have multiple sized fabric pots and start with small ones it is going to be a pain to transplant. The roots in fabric pots basically grow through the holes of the fabric and get stuck. When they reach air it self prunes the roots so you can't ever see this happening but it's nearly impossible to pull a plant out of a fabric pot without causing damage because the roots are attached to the pot. Use hard pots to start and then have the final home be a fabric one. I only use a solo cup sized hard part to start and transplant once into my 3 gallon coco pot. I don't go any higher than 3 gallon fabric pots (for coco) unless I am doing something crazy like my Tangerine Dream.

I up-canned my AK-47 last year from a 7g fabric to a 10g fabric and won POTM with it! The roots you lose are the ones that are just about to be air pruned anyway. Here's the technique demonstrated on a recently chopped plant:

Then just lift it up and drop it in the next size you want! That said, I use plastic until my final pots most of the time as well.

Good idea. Never really thought of that.

Apparently another thing I always underestimate is how much coco I need to hydrate. While my second batch is soaking, I snapped some JH#2 trich pics. I don’t trust myself right now, so in an effort to not harvest too early again - - what say you oh wise masters?
The pic quality isn’t the best, so I’ll put up several.

Pretty close to ready Heavenly! I saw one pic that had a few clear ones, but mostly i was seeing cloudy with some amber here n there. Sometimes its a bit hard to tell with the focus tho - it can make things look cloudy when maybe they aren’t. You’ll get a dozen more opinions soon I’m sure! But by my take of those pics, it’s not too early now - you’re in the widow :thumb:

beautiful ,just beautiful.

Thank you, oh wise masters, for your opinions on the Jack auto trichs. :adore:

My latest fave from the di$pen$ary has been Jack Wreck. I had Mr. H grab another jar of it and this one is way more racy than the previous jar we got. It’s almost unpleasantly panicky if I’m not careful and smoke too much. And I’m no lightweight! The THC is like 30% so it’s ridiculous and my Jack won’t be near as potent, but in light of the differences between those jars, I want to let it get to that more relaxing side. I think I’ll let it go another 3-5 days if I can. Room is kinda tight in the tent again, and rh is on the higher end that makes me nervous. We’ll see how that goes.

I got everyone moved into bigger pots. I looked at using that fabric pot transplant technique Shed shared, and I think the circumference of the small 1 gallon is too tight to flip it outward without it being stressful. I decided 2 gallon was better, so 3 C99xBB’s and 1 Alaskan purple went into 2 gallon. I left the other Alaskan purple, with no inner leaves, in her solo cup #nolove. My banana kush went into a 3 gallon and that will be her final pot. I don’t think the 2nd banana kush is going to sprout. :( I’m still contemplating the plan for the small tent after BBK is done.

I usually hate breaking up the giant brick of coco, but I think I found my new way to do it and that is - hit it with a hammer. #freetherapy
I used a little hand saw to make a perforation and then hit it with the hammer - breaks it right up, so easy! Make sure you wear safety goggles if you try it at home.

That’s all for this chatty update.
Congratulations to Professor and Happy Birthday to baby Flora :circle-of-love::happy-birthday::woohoo:
Happy Gardening! :ciao:

I actually soaked my last bricks in a bucket of water and they unpacked themselves in about 20 min.
:thumb:

Not sure if the big 10lb brick will do the same, but these 1.6lb bricks I grabbed, swell right up when dropped in a bucket of water.

It was still a little chunky, so i fluffed it up a bit while filling the pot.

I was surprised at how easy it was.
