Heavenly Hybrid’s Hideout: Jump In Anytime

Hey y’all, did a little more work on the quads today. I moved the ties out a bit more, they are growing like… weeds! I turned the lights up to 50% a couple days ago, I think they liked it. :morenutes:I also removed the bottom nodes on each branch, now that they’re growing out more.

Space is getting a little tight in here, faster than I expected. Wookiee did me a favor not showing up, so I have some time to get my shit together and clean up the 4x4 a little more.

I remembered to take my phone with me when I visited Candida! Yay. She’s made a little progress and is definitely in bloom now, I’d guess a couple weeks along, maybe?

I’m a little worried about her making it to harvest. I’ve chopped my indoor candidas at 7 and 8 weeks, I don’t know if that timetable will hold for outdoors too? Even so, we’re talking mid-late October, I hope she’ll make it! I’m considering getting some sort of clear cover/green house type thing to put over her. Put that baby gate to work, holding a clear umbrella perhaps? It seems like the rains are thinking about turning on around here, let alone by October. 😬

That’s all I got for today. Thanks for stopping in and sending loves to you all!

I mean what’s the worst that could happen 😂
Famous last words, my friend! 😂 I did go in and dig up the seed to see if anything was happening. It never even cracked, so it was a no brainer to start another. I didn’t scratch them up at all before soaking, should I give it a scrape you think?

I don’t generally but if that is one of your methods it certainly isn’t going to hurt it. Maybe it will just pop early tomorrow before you even plant it 😉
I keep it simple and float for a day then bury them about 5/8” down and usually 36-48 hours later-ish they make an appearance. If not it’s about 8 days later, there seems to be no in between..

Your quads are shaping up nicely! ( hmm... I kinda sound like an athletic trainer there, but I'm referring to your plants) :laughtwo:

That Candida is looking nice, but I'm afraid it's got a long way to go. Halloween maybe? I hope I'm wrong.

I keep it even more simple.

Straight into dirt.

Until this forum I’ve never even considered dropping in water, roughing husks or putting seeds in paper towel.

Really! I had no idea ma’am. Many growers I know seem to like the paper towel thing and I did it for a while before until I forgot about some seeds one time and they grew through the paper towel and each other 😂
Now I skip that, mostly to take the human pollution/bacteria out of the equation and because I haven’t needed to change anything. I get an occasional helmet and I’m ok with that.

Omg do you actually say ma’am?

Yeah straight into dirt. When they pop with helmets I think that’s a sign you haven’t buried the seed deep enough. I think I’ve had one pop up with a helmet. That was a super horrific seed birth. How it lived I do not know! Lol

I soak them in water for 18 hours or so- just to make sure they get at least a bit of a little tail poking out.
To me, no tail means they're likely a dud...

I’m thinking it’ll finish before then - assuming it will ripen at the same rate as indoors. Indoors I harvest at 7-8 weeks usually. Hope-filled guess is mid Oct. 🤞 but yeah…
Well this post disappeared on me so thanks to BL for bringing it back to the top.
Whew, I thought you didn’t like me anymore! 🥹

I'm with BL about being concerned for the Candida out there. Do you need this harvest for the jars?
I’m with you, being with Beez. (see below)

I am coming to realize that I do need some Candida that I can count on harvesting. I have enough to make one more batch for MIL’s pup, and that’s it! I’m flirting with a couple indoor ideas for the current Candida mom I have. Just not sure what to do just yet.
Excellent training on those quads, so squatting to work in the tent is really starting to show 💪
😂 You and Beez make good trainers, you’re hired!

I’ve been doing more work on the quads in the 2x4, and it’s getting cramped in there fast! I spent today cleaning up the 4x4 and it’ll be moving day, possibly tomorrow. When I was looking at outdoor Candida, I saw a couple of concerning spots already. I pulled them off the plant because they were small branches, but this is the worrisome bits.

The browning pistils looked different from the rest of the plant, so they stood out right away. Part of me feels like abandoning this little experiment already. 😮‍💨

I haven’t been treating with anything so far, other than some nutes, so I’m open to any and all advice.

This is what I do too usually. I guess some of the landrace seeds can be tough to to crack, so Newty and VG both recommended roughing them up a little before soaking. I’ve done it a time or two, but for the most part, it’s bath to dirt.

No sign of the second Wookiee, but I may let it have one more day. I think I will rough up the next seed and see if that makes any difference. I’m obviously going to need to soak at least two to get them to pop. And of course they will both pop cause I only have room for one! 😅

You are not one not to be liked! You're actually one of my two favorite north westerners. :)

Part of me feels like abandoning this little experiment already.
Definitely becoming problematic with the browning you spotted (nice catch and green-bin that shit!) and the delay in flowering. If you decide to move on from that one I wouldn't blame you, but if you think it might be worth saving, maybe this would help:

After you dig it up maybe stick it in some water with H202 and see if it cracks? Nothing to lose at that point.
I let my Wookiee soak for almost four days before it cracked.

Hi all! I did a little more work in the garden today, because - it’s moving day!

I’m pretty happy with the way I split up the cleaning/set up process with the 4x4. I ended up cleaning the tent and the watering system pieces - including the pots, on the first day. Next day, got the lights in place, timers synchronized and exhaust system tested/up and running. Today, the plants were dry and ready for transplant and moving! Much less stress than my usual, procrastinate then cram it all into one day, approach. And I’m glad I didn’t procrastinate, because they were ready.

Things were getting cramped in the 2x4. I forgot to get a picture before I started. But I got it after just one was out.

DTF filled that space completely and there was no room for elbows in there!

Ahh, DTF and Peyote forum breathing easier already.

GG4 roots, def ready to see some fresh dirt.

I adjusted some of the ties, but there’s still more to do. I’ll let them settle in tonight and finish tidying the quads up, tomorrow. They will continue to be top watered for the next two weeks, then they’ll be ready to switch over to the watering system. Looking forward to that! 😎 In the meantime, I have two weeks to get all the system tubing connected and ready to rock.

In other news, I’m soaking a third Wookiee bean, so this one should be the lucky one! I scuffed up the seed with a nail file, we’ll see if that helps. Now there’s lots of room in the 2x4, so come join us lil Wookiee! 🌱🤞🍀

That’s all the news of the day here. Hope all your gardens are green and thanks for stopping in!

Such lovely growing and presentation 😊😊😊

But 1, 2, 3 back to me, every time I see a cool cloud formation on the back drop of a perfect blue sky I think of you. True story lol.

What excellent planning and execution. :thumb:

Great root growth, and that 4x4 filled up fast! :goodluck: with the third Wookiee bean.
Thanks Shed, it’s very unlike me, so it’d be great if I could keep that going. 😄

Well done, HH!
I've been meaning to stop procrastinating, I just haven't gotten around to it yet...🤪
Lol! Maybe next time? There’s a first time for everything, this could well be my first!

I seriously need a 😂❤️ combo button for you Trala!
That’s really so sweet and warms my lil heart 🥰
Hi Heavenly, is DTF the one from Van Stank?
Hey Stone, it is, but our beloved Mr. Scorpio made them.

Plant look good in there new home was def. out of room / good job on the clean up and not pressing it into being no fun. Hope you can let the outside grow do its thing and it does its thing for you ...
Thanks sb, you are so right! It makes it no fun when I procrastinate and it was definitely a lot less sucky this time around. 😎

I did end up getting a little plastic greenhouse for the outdoor, we’ll see if it helps her through..
