I think you could actually touch the tubes with the seedlings with no negative result-Tubes barely put out any heat and the light is omnidirectional, so closer is better.
I've had a t5 ho burn a leaf that was in contact with it about 30cm from the centre of a 120cm tube, but it was touching it for a few hours before I noticed. I get them as close as 1cm away without any detrimental effects.I think you could actually touch the tubes with the seedlings with no negative result-
Are those actual fluorescent bulbs, or are they the led type?-the led ones put out NO heat- well, maybe a degree or 2 above the ambient..so almost none...
Not that it matters much- both types don't produce enough heat to hurt your plants, at least not in the middle of the tube (they get warmer on the ends)
I give my sprouts 18k lux, straight out of the ground...seems like a lot, but they seldom stretch.
They need the intense light straight away, or they will literally stretch 2 inches overnight...that's why I don't "wait till tomorrow" to get them under intense light...
Just my 2 cents....
Are those fluorescent tubes? Maybe try putting them an inch over the plants when they sprout, and in a line under the light rather than a round saucer. Those babies are already reaching sideways for the light.

Much better, and put your sprouts under that light the second they break the surface. Even closer with a deck of cards underneath or something until it starts getting too close.Okay, I've moved them closer again. Now, they're about 2 inches from the fluorescent light and more or less in a straight line. The light doesn't seem to get very hot.
15000ml of water is nearly 4 gallons into a 5 gallon pot. Is that right? I get a lot of runoff with 1 gallon in my 5 gallon bags.
The plants actually look underwatered to me from the hang of the lowers. Could the tops be too close to the light given how leggy they are? That can make leaves curl away to protect themselves. And MC doesn't have a ton of nitrogen in it but you could try going back down to 5.0g and see how they respond.
The top of the plant in the tent looks to be about 4' from the light which seems really far unless it's incredibly powerful. Is it up that high because of the height of these? That's one of the problems that come up when there isn't a flat canopy.
Does that PM wipe off with your finger? If not, it's dead from the spray. The white doesn't go away after spraying though.
Is there a reason you track water cumulatively, like it's so expensive you want to add it to your cost calculations? The 15,000 ml of water was given to the plant from January 18 to February 7. It's not all at once.
One lanky plant ruins it for the rest of them!

Oh sorry, this looked like more than that to me:The light is currently 16" from the top of the plant.
Gotcha. The lanky plant is in a tent all by herself.
I never actually looked at the amount this whole time and just figured you were tracking how much water you gave them last time rather than cumulatively. Sorry for not noticing and asking about it back then.I like knowing how often and how much I water. I've been tracking that info since I started growing in 2020.

That's the plant and light I referred to in my post.
