HashGirl Implements A Perpetual Grow

That's 33 more than I'll grow this year
You're gonna have to rent a warehouse for all that weed, HashGirl!

Green Mountain Grape regulars, 90% sativa, 15-20% THC, 8-9 weeks flowering, high resistance to bud rot.
I'm getting close to harvesting a couple GMGs. They were hit by black leaf mold while in flower, but have pulled through. I'll find out soon how resistant to bud rot they are. Just posted my update with photos HERE.

*** FLOW1 UPDATE ***

Good afternoon. Sorry that this update is so late. Life seems to have gotten much busier lately.

Technically, 3/4 of these plants is in Flow2 but I'm not calling them that until the 4th one (Candy) reaches 30 days in 4 more days. And, despite Candy being the youngest, she's growing the fastest with a 6-inch leap this update.
The only other news is that I had to spray Roxy and Suzy for PM yesterday. I don't know why they have PM as the humidity is in the 30s, they're the only 2 plants in the tent and there are 2 fans blowing on them. Nonetheless, I sprayed them and then wiped out the tent with lemon juice in hopes of nipping it in the bud, so to speak. ;)

Without further ado, here are the photos:

And, that's it for today. Thanks for following along. Comments, questions and suggestions are always welcome.

They're looking great, HashGirl!
I count about 30 budsites on Babs...
You're getting damn good at the training thing- not that your other grows didn't look good too, but this batch of plants is your best looking, healthiest grow yet! (imo)

suggestions are always welcome.
I suggest you keep doing what you've been doing, because it's working extremely well..💚

PM is weird and I don't have a strong understanding of it. I did find some reading on it that is counter to some of my thoughts.

Everyone looks great!

Thanks, Stone. Just the first paragraph shows that my thinking on PM and humidity is skewed.

This can seem counter-intuitive because “word on the street” is that hight humidity causes powdery mildew. But, it’s actually the opposite. Increasing the humidity of your environment (indoors or in a greenhouse) will make the development of spores less likely. Don’t go crazy with humidity. 60% – 80% relative humidity is standard and fine. Maintain air-flow as well… but this does not mean crank-up the fans. Air movement spreads spores. But a plant with adequate spacing allows humidity from transpiration to be whisked away.

Good afternoon.

On March 18, I added 4 new seeds to water. The first one to sprout was Mala. Mala is an African name meaning flower or a garland. I picked an African name because Mala is an African strain. Here is her info:

MALAWI X PAKISTAN CHITRAL KUSH (1 seed)

Primary Terpenes:Terpinolene, Pinene, Myrcene
Genotype:Photoperiod
Phenotype:Sativa -Dominant (60% Sativa, 40% Indica)
Breeder:Ace Seeds
Genetics:Old Malawi killer sativa x Purple Pakistan Chitral Kush indica
Projected Flowering Time:63 to 77 days
Projected Yield:500 to 600g/m2
THC %:16 to 19
CBD %:<.05
CBG %:Up to 1.65

Malawi x PCK, F1 Sativa Indica Hybrid
Malawi x PCK is without any doubt one of the most complete sativa/indica hybrids in our catalogue, for its yield, potency, quality of the effect, versatility, resistance, beauty, complexity of terpenes and high resin production.

To create this outstanding F1 hybrid, we have pollinated the famous 'old Malawi killer' mother with the elite purple Pakistan Chitral Kush. While Violeta (another Malawi/Pakistani hybrid) is more compact, columnar and flowers faster, Malawi x PCK is more vigorous, powerful, and higher yielding, with taller outdoor structure and stronger branching, although the flowering time is 1-2 weeks longer than her sister Violeta.

Malawi x PCK also very frequently displays the maroon colors and forest fruit aromas typical of the Pakistani, with a very powerful and long-lasting sativa/indica effect, and high resistance against fungi and rain.

Growing Malawi x PCK
Ace Seeds recommends moderate-high NPK feeding throughout the life cycle. Very suitable for SOG crops due to its great yield in the main cola, or for SCROG and horizontal growing, due to its excellent yield in the lateral branches and its vigorous reaction to pruning. Outdoors it can be grown in a wide variety of climates.

The flowering stage of Malawi x PCK lasts from 9 to 11 weeks in indoor cannabis cultivation and will be ready for a late October harvest outdoors, with very heavy and generous production.

Malawi x PCK, a fruity chewing gum flavour and a potent high
The Malawi x PCK crop is made up of large clusters of fleshy flowers with well-shaped and swollen calyxes, all coated with a generous layer of resin. There are two main phenotypes, one green and the other purple, each presenting unique nuances in their aromas.

The terpene profile is rich and complex, composed of terpinolene (40%), alpha pinene (18%), beta myrcene (11.5%), beta pinene (11%) and limonene (9%), with traces of trans-ocimene (4%), delta 3 carene, alpha terpinene, phellandrene, fenchol, borneol, terpineol, camphene, camphor, eucalyptol, p cymene and phytol. Its sesquiterpenes are dominated by beta-caryophyllene (2/3), supplemented by alpha-humulene and guaiol, with traces of caryophyllene oxide.

The taste in this strain has been completely inherited from the PCK, with those fruity and sweet tones that bring cherry jam to mind. The effect is quite mixed, with a psychoactive initial high that gets more indica as you come down into perfect relaxation.

Café Racer Flavours and Effects
The skunkiness of this aromatic strain is heightened by spice and diesel aromas. This aroma is potent enough to fill a grow room during the flowering stage of the enormous buds. The flavours are skunk, cinnamon, and diesel, an enticing mix of the Girl Scout Cookies and Grand Daddy Purple parent trees. The prevalent flavours are purple in origin, with an evident tanginess and sweetness from grapes and berries and a distinct skunk flavour. It enhances the taste of the Cookie strain by combining the sweetness of citrus fruits such as lemons with an acidic taste.

Negative Effect You Can Expect From Café Racer Feminized Marijuana Strain
The two most common side effects are dry mouth and dry eyes. However, these complications can be dealt with quickly with a little plan. You must drink a lot of water before and after using the Café Racer to help keep you hydrated.

How to Grow Café Racer Feminized Marijuana Strain
One look at Café Racer and you will see nothing but trichomes. The buds are a darker green colour accompanied by shades of purple and dark orange pistils. This strain is a joy to cultivate due to its massive buds. The stalks are long and can need assistance to maintain the upright position of the resinous nugs. Indoor growing, Café Racer feminized strain can bloom within 70 to 75 days. Outdoors, this strain can flourish between mid-September to late October. Indoor yields of up to 450 grams per square meter are possible. When preparation methods such as trimming are used, this plant can thrive. Marijuana cultivation techniques such as the Sea of Green will also contribute significantly to ensuring an excellent harvest. Your attention to detail will make all the difference for this lovely lady, so keep this grow info in mind for the best results:

Grow Tips
  • Café Racer is not mould-resistant - make sure to trim your plants and ensure proper ventilation to avoid having to deal with mould.
  • Use the SOG method to boost the production of buds and keep plant health under control for this strain.
  • Due to the stature of Café Racer plants, long stalks might need support to hold up the heavy, resinous nugs.

Next to come up was Dayo. Dayo was also given an African girl's name because the strain is African. Dayo means "arrival of joy". Dayo was actually the second seed I planted of this strain. The first one never came up. Dayo was born on April 2. Here is her info:

DURBAN POISON (1 seed)

Primary Terpenes:Terpinolene, Myrcene, Ocimene, Pinene
Genotype:Photoperiod
Phenotype:Sativa (100% Sativa)
Breeder:Landrace
Genetics:Landrace
Projected Flowering Time:73 to 80 days
Projected Yield:350 to 550g/plant
THC %:22
CBD %:.24

Being a purely sativa strain, Durban Poison is perfect for users that are looking for a daytime strain that will give them the energy they need to get them through the day. It is much higher in THC than it is in CBD; in fact, the CBD in this strain is almost non-existent. Still, users can take advantage of the medicinal benefits it brings when treating things like nausea and depression. One of the biggest trends associated with Durban Poison is using it to make concentrates such as shatter and wax. Due to the giant resin-covered buds this strain will produce, it seems almost as though it’s been made for concentrates.

HISTORY
Durban Poison is aptly named, as it comes from the city of Durban, a port city in South Africa. In its lineage, users will find African strains indigenous to that area.

After expert breeder, Ed Rosenthal, visited Durban in the 1970s, he came across the seeds and brought dozens of them back to California with him. At first, Rosenthal didn’t have much luck with the seeds, finding that they produced tiny buds, and that many of them were hermaphrodite.

Throughout the years Rosenthal worked with the strain and eliminated the unsavory characteristics, while trying to boost the positive effects the strain brings. After that, it didn’t take long before the strain exploded in California and later, in Amsterdam when Rosenthal took it to the people of Holland, who were excited to see a strain they could grow outdoors even in their cooler climate.

EFFECTS & CHARACTERISTICS
With THC levels that can reach up to 25%, and don’t often fall below 18%, Durban Poison is known to be one of the most powerful strains out there. Being a pure sativa, happiness is one of the main effects users will feel. It is a cerebral stone, and while users tend to feel more creative, it’s not a stone that will keep one in their own head for hours at a time without the ability to focus.

The strain also brings a very social high, making people feel as though they have boundless energy, and very talkative at the same time. These effects make Durban Poison a great strain to enjoy with friends.

Durban Poison is so uplifting and effective at improving one’s overall mood, this strain is great at treating depression and anxiety. But while that may be what the Durban Poison strain is best known for, it also makes for a great pain reliever and is helpful when trying to treat nausea.

Due to the high levels of THC, this strain is one of the best for creating edibles, although users should go slowly when consuming any food made with it, especially if they’re not accustomed to making or using edibles. Durban Poison also produces huge buds that are loaded with some of the fattest trichomes among all cannabis strains. This makes it a great strain to use when making and enjoying concentrates.

Of course, for traditionalists, smoking and vaping Durban Poison will also allow users to feel the full effects of the strain. With these methods, the stone will last a typical two hours, although lengths of a three-hour stone are not unheard of when it comes to this strain.

Smoking or vaping ground buds will also allow users to enjoy the full flavor and aroma Durban Poison has to offer; and this strain is one of the more complex ones out there. While the flavors of licorice and anise are some of the most common found with this strain, and certainly those that will be felt fullest on the inhale, the strain also holds distinct characteristics on the exhale, mostly made up of citrus and peppery notes. Earthy aromas such as pine are also faintly recognizable.

The aroma holds very true to the taste, with the pungent smell being the first to hit the nose. Many users have attributed this smell to being most similar to licorice. This is most likely what gives the strain its notoriously sweet smell.

GROW INFORMATION
Due to the subtropical climate from which it originated, Durban Poison does best when grown outdoors in hot conditions that receive plenty of sun. It can be grown in other climates, or even indoors, but growers should know that the yields will not be as big as they would be if it was grown in premium conditions.

Being a sativa plant, it will grow very tall, sometimes reaching massive heights up to eight feet, although heights of about 6 or 7 feet are more typical. Unlike other sativas however, it can grow to be quite bushy, lacking the spindly characteristic that is true to other sativas.

This height is also another reason indoor growers will need to take extra measures when bringing their plants inside. Some type of training will most likely be required such as SCROG or tying the branches back to force it to grow outward instead of upward. Those growing the strain indoors are recommended to grow Durban Poison hydroponically instead of in soil.

When the strain is taken to its most natural environment outdoors, it will still reach great heights and will produce approximately 16 ounces per plant. Harvest times usually fall in late September or early October, making it a great strain for growers that live in cooler climates.

Indoors, plants typically take about 9 weeks to grow, and growers can expect a yield of approximately 13 ounces per square meter.

One of the reasons Durban Poison is such a popular strain among growers, indoor and outdoor alike, is due to the fact that this strain has shown itself to be incredibly hardy and resistant to mold, disease, and pests.

Not only is Durban Poison a phenomenal smoke (or vape or edible), but it’s also a strain that lays the foundation for many other strains. Durban Poison is a parent of Big Island Poison (crossed with Kona Gold), Cherry Pie (crossed with GDP), and Durban Relief (crossed with Bubba Kush), to name just a few. It not only provides a relaxing and social smoke for those that use it, but also provides many medicinal benefits and is pretty easy on both indoor and outdoor growers.

If you want a smoke that’s not just flavorful and aromatic, but also gives you the high that will keep you going during the day, Durban Poison may just be the strain you’ve been looking for.

*** VEG1 cont'd... ***

While I was waiting for the first Durban Poison seed to sprout, I also had a Panama x Bangi Haze seed that I was waiting for. Unfortunately, she didn't hatch and I only had 1 seed of her strain so I couldn't try again with a new seed, which was disappointing. I also tried to germinate a Kaboom seed and she didn't germinate either so I gave up and March's seed drop will remain at 3 plants for the month.

I don't know if you happened to notice the flowering times for the 3 strains. They're all in the 63 to 80 day range. I asked @Emilya Green how she handles long-flowering plants in a perpetual grow and she said she would then not drop any seeds the next month in order to accommodate the longer flowering periods. However, I will be starting 4 new seeds in April because those 4 plants will be grown outside by Felonious.

Congrats on the cool beans and the circles to let us know it's not just a glass of water! The flowering plants are looking great and Candy is really all in with the stretch thing. Are you raising the others to maintain their distance to the light? There's an 8" difference between Candy and the shortest plant already.

Also, I noticed that one sprout had water on the leaves. It's better to keep them dry so that the plant only gets moisture from pushing new roots out down below. It's the same reason not to spray leaves of cuttings you're trying to clone. If they can get moisture directly from the leaves they don't bother growing roots.

*** VEG2 UPDATE ***

Good afternoon.

Clem and Piper played a huge April Fool's joke on me. Let's see if you can see what's going on.

Clem - Day 30:

On Saturday (April Fools' Day), I asked Felonious if Clem looked like she was going into flower despite being in the veg tent under 18/6 lighting but he said, no and that it was just showing sex.

So, that's a bummer. I've contacted the seed vendor (non-sponsor). I bought 5 Pineapple Express, 5 Cannalope Haze and 5 Clementine seeds from them.

So far, they've only agreed to replace the 2 plants that are already flowering. But, they've also said that I can only get replacements once, which I think is unfair since I didn't have plans to grow all of the seeds this year but if Cleo and Pippa turn out to be autoflowers, too, I'll probably drop the rest of the Clementine and Pineapple Express seeds because if they're autos, too, I'll need to grow more to get the quantity I want.
