Haight Solid State vs. H.G.LED

Re: 420 Consumer Reports Competition - Haight Solid State vs. Hydro Grow LED

Thanks SS for sharing your insights on feeding, pH, etc. for growing in soil. Do you do any TDS or EC readings on the nutes going in and coming out? If so, I'm wondering what numbers you are looking for at this stage of the grow and how you would make adjustments, etc.

Great work man - +reps if I can.

I just got a TDS meter recently, but I haven't used it yet.

Being a soil grower thus far, I'm not well-versed in TDS or EC measurements.

I didn't use one back when I grew with passive hydro, but that was long ago.

thanks usul ;)

Vamos a creer la mota con luzes LED! Solamente un chiste. Lo siento, hermano. Adios.

Re: 420 Consumer Reports Competition - Haight Solid State vs. Hydro Grow LED

Yep, that's enough Spanish.

Enough work to do this in one language ;).

I checked headroom last night, and I still have about a foot left in both tents.

The tall lady in the HGL tent looks like she's done stretching.

The tall one in the HSS tent may have stopped. She didn't stretch much the last couple of days. She's mature and budding, but not a hint of alternating nodes, which is something I haven't seen before.

In any case, I think we're OK as far as headroom goes to finish the grow.

The plants have responded well to the last feeding and are continuing to bud up.

Keep an eye out for the black helicopters... :cheesygrinsmiley:

And that pool cleaning van across the street... does it take three days to clean a pool?

So, now they know you're on to them Sun... well, been good knowing you! :cheesygrinsmiley:

Seriously, I wonder how many got frustrated with the results and turned on an HPS to finish?
obxgardener , That's exactly what i did !! And still got a fantastic crop. Saved me a bundle on electric bill !! :yahoo:

Re: 420 Consumer Reports Competition - Haight Solid State vs. Hydro Grow LED

well, back then most of the LED grows were with low-power red-blue panels, so expectations were way out of line with actual results.

The technology has progressed quickly and continues to improve.

I certainly wouldn't be embarrassed by that SCROG you sent me pics of.

I forgot to measure the two freaks, but I'm pretty sure they stopped stretching. I'll measure them tomorrow out of curiosity.

I just was wanted to see how your grow is going and from the looks of it both set of plants are very happy and healthy.

Great job SS

yeah, that's weird, especially since that house doesn't even have a pool, lol.

I just want to clarify that I am a legal medical marijuana patient, and my grows are well within my doctor's recommendation and my county's legal guidelines, in case anyone didn't know I was kidding around with OBX ;)

Re: 420 Consumer Reports Competition - Haight Solid State vs. Hydro Grow LED

The girls are looking real good. Maybe a little shy on bud though, wish you could conjecture versus your experience with say a 400w in the same space. But I know you can't so I won't tempt you....:ganjamon:.

Way to keep it legit bro! :peace:

I like the picture with the plug in the background, kind of gives the ideal of how big the popcorn buds are doing....

Re: 420 Consumer Reports Competition - Haight Solid State vs. Hydro Grow LED

I haven't used a 400w HID in my tents yet, but I have some feel for what a 250w HID can do in there.

We're not comparing LED to HID on this grow, but I don't see the harm in providing my impressions of how things are going versus what I'm used to seeing at this point in bloom with 250w HPS, especially since HID lighting is what many of us are used to growing with, and generally what we use as our index to compare other technologies to.

Right now, I think both groups are even with or perhaps slightly behind what I'm used to seeing with 250 HPS using a digital ballast and high-output horticultural bulb.

Personally speaking, I continue to disregard manufacturer's claims, and am looking at this comparison as watt-to-watt when I'm mentally comparing to HID, so the fact that they may be slightly behind a 250w HID is not troubling, as long as my personal goal of 1.5-2oz per plant is met at harvest.

thanks MountainHigh, appreciate your support ;)
