Growing Without Bloom Nutes By Farside05

Picked up some Pro-Mix Premium Moisture Potting Mix from Wal-Mart this AM in anticipation of the new autos sprouting. Didn't feel like mucking about with making more Faux-Mix® this week since I've already got a busy schedule. I'll probably add a bit more perlite to it since it's only about 10% perlite and HP is 20-30%.

Has it got vermiculite in it? Potting mixes with the word "moisture" in them make me nervous. :nervous-guy:

INGREDIENTS

  • Sphagnum peat moss (80-90% by volume)
  • Coir
  • Perlite
  • Ground Limestone (for pH adjustment)
  • Wetting agent
  • Mycorrhizae

Oh thanks! I guess the lack of perlite makes is "moisture." If there's perlite and coco in there, there might not be much perlite!
At up to 90% peat, there can't be that much perlite or coir.

The coir component is why they're marketing the "moisture control":

You can also count on the natural coco fiber to increase moisture retention. Therefore, you spend less time worrying about under or overwatering your plants.

What? You mean the medium that needs to be watered up to twice a day?
Life's a little marketing. Doesn't have to make sense. Kind of like Jumbo Shrimp, Buffalo Wings, etc.

Photo update:

The photo girls

The 3 autos and 1 photo I plan on giving away. Back row and front left are Northern Lights x Big Bud, front left Sensi Skunk. 2 of the NL x BB are funky. 1 is growing like a stick, the other has a lot of gnarly leaves.

I'm liking the looks of the photos, the autos, not so much. Part of the reason I'm parting company with them. The Weedseedsexpress autos I've grown have been a bit inconsistent, their photos I had better luck with. When these new beans pop, everything will be from Nirvana.

Is that from the bag? How did you translate that to 11ml of Terp, which doesn't list sulfur content at all (just 0-0-4)?

Source for the K & S numbers. Terpinator tells us on the label that's it's made from Potassium Sulfate, so although they only post the N-P-K numbers, there is Sulfur in it. For simplicity, divide the 44 from the Potassium Sulfate powder by the 4 (percentage in the diluted Terpinator) to get the 11 ml dosage equaling 1g of powder.

Beyond your dosing, what should the guaranteed analysis on Terp have listed for S?

If
K 44.874
S 18.401

44.874 / 4 = 11.2185

18.401 / 11.2185 = 1.64

So Terpinator would be 0-0-4 with 1.64% Sulfur.

Tonight I fed the girls 4g (5/8tsp) MSU fertilizer, 1g (1/8tsp) Potassium Sulfate and 5ml Faux-Tekt®. This I consider a "full strength dose". Topped 3 of the plants. The largest auto that's growing like a stick is showing some deficiencies probably because I didn't up the feed as quickly as I normally do and she's going into bloom. The heavier feed should please her. It's been a week since I threw some new seeds in Jiffy Plugs and one if the Original Glues finally popped up. I don't know that I can give everything away that I was originally planning on since I need some kind of harvest to keep me and mine happy. I can at least give away the Sensi Skunk photo that's in the Auto tent and replace it with the Original Glue.

Thanks! I'm a bit slow tonight because I didn't have lunch, but if Terpinator is 0-0-4, why are dividing the K by 4?

And then dividing the S by that number?

I'm taking the % K in the powder and diving by 4 (the 0-0-4 of the Terpinator) to get the dilution rate that Terpinator used to get the 44% powder down to a 4% liquid. Then I take the S in the powder and apply that dilution rate to it to get the 1.62 % S in the liquid Terpinator.

or if you prefer multiplication to division....

44.874X = 4

Solve X = 4/44.874
X = .089134

Solve for Sulfur

18.401 x .089134 = 1.64
