I finally started some seeds the other day. Some of the seeds have some age to them so I'll see what comes up and what I'll have to work with.

:ciao:
Gonna fill both tents?
Yes. I dropped 3 Zkittlez and 1 Gelato for the photo tent and 1 Northern Lights, 1 Blueberry Kush, and 4 Northern Lights x Big Bud for choices for Autos. Obviously 6 autos won't fit in my 32x32, so I'll pick 4 from what sprouts.

Summer of fun! I hope the family vacay went swimmingly. :surf:
It was a vacation that wasn't. Ended up staying at home since costs for travel were up about 50% from normal and I don't like wasting money. Worked around the house the first week and the second week I was kinda a bum.

I hope everyone else was okay with that! :)
I was probably the most dejected since everyone else is off for months (2 college students and a wife that's a teacher). The wife and daughter tried to cheer me up by having a Luau day where they hung up a bunch of decorations on the deck around the pool.

Welcome! I plan on keeping this thread an ongoing journal of my grows. In the past I've made a separate journal for every grow and left buts of pieces of information all over the site. Since there isn't a blog feature anymore, I thought I'd make a journal where I can store all my favorite articles, pod casts, videos, etc.. I'll probably clutter up the first page or two with a lot of links and such so I can refer back to them. Lets get started. For my first grow of this journal I'll be growing Girl Scout Cookies and Gorilla Glue, both autos from FastBuds. As the title suggests, I do not use traditional Bloom nutes. I use Dyna Gro Foliage Pro and a Silica supplement from start to finish and adjust the ratios slightly as flowering kicks in. My growing medium will be standard Pro Mix BX with mycorrhizae. Lighting is courtesy of a DIY 300 watt LED strip build, 3500k spectrum. Ventilation is a 6" fan and carbon filter and 2 clip on fans to keep things moving inside the tent. Tent dimensions are 32"x32"x63".

Exhaust. Currently since its cold here, thefan and filter are in scrubber mode scrubber. When it gets warmer, I have a piece or drywall I replace the attic door with. I have a 6" whole cut in it that I vent out of the closet.

I use the closets shelves to hang drying bud and store supplies.

I decorated the inside of the tent door with some stickers I got as part of a prize pack from The Vault.

I'll call today Day 1. All the seeds sprouted in Jiffy plugs and I transplanted them into 5 gallon pots. Normally I'd fill the pots a bit more but I was a hair short on Pro Mix and didn't feel like buying a whole new bale for just a tad bit more per pot.
just got some of them pot elevators !!! man they are great - nice set-up You mentioned NO bloom boosters that's no issue because genetics is the base factor everything else is icing on the cake ( Terpinator, Purpinator) would be nice to build a drying room and room for veg and room for flower

I've got 2 Zkittlez Photos and 2 Northern x Big Bud Autos up. A third NL x BB is showing. Half way home so far. If I don't see anymore activity in the next couple days I'll chuck a few more seeds in plugs. This grow is a bit of a closet cleaning, getting rid of some older seed. The 3 Zkittlez and the 1 Gelato seed were the newest and the ones I'm looking for the most. The Zkittlez (from Nirvana) has been the most desired strain I've grown in the last 5 years. Next seed order will be big and will definitely have a heavy dose of both their photo and auto Zkittlez seeds.

I know, photos or it didn't happen...

Anyone interested in seeing what some of these do with the Michigan State fertilizer mentioned in DeeCee112"s article link below? I still have some from a trial years ago and I've always toyed with the idea of circling back to it. It's high N, high K, and very low P. My lighting and skill level have increased dramatically since my first and only grow using it.

Happy day at Farside05 homestead! Every so often I check eBay for another Tent Chicken. I find them, but the little SOB is considered a collectable and the price is normally outrageous. By outrageous I mean $40 for a little stone statue I'm just gonna stick in my tent as a mascot. Today I checked and I was able to find one for $16 including the shipping. Mine, mine, mine, all mine, I screamed like a toddler who's Teddy Bear was just touched by another child. Buy It Now button pressed. I can now upgrade the closet tent from The Orb Of Power to full Tent Chicken mode. Look out world. Bountiful harvests are in my future, I can feel it already.

Looking at a feed regiment based on the Michigan State fertilizer (aka Orchidgain). Orchidgain has no Sulfur, so I'd likely supplement with either a dry powder (Potassium Sulfate) or it's liquid equivalent (aka Terpinator). For those that love numbers:

Orchidgain Guaranteed Analysis
NO3 12.3
NO4 .7
P 2
K 13
Mg 3.1
Ca 6.2
Fe .177
Zn .044
Mn .088
Cu .044
Mo .018

Faux Tekt® Guaranteed Analysis
K 3.7
Si 7.8

Potassium Sulfate Guaranteed Analysis
K 44.874
S 18.401

For a full strength feeding using 4.5g Orchidgain, 5ml Faux Tekt®, and 1g Potassium Sulfate (or 11ml Terpinator), the resulting ppm per element is:

NO3 146.43
NH4 8.33
P 10.24
K 267.61
Mg 36.9
Ca 73.81
S 48.68
Fe 2.11
Zn .52
Mn 1.05
Cu .52
Mo .21
Si 48.18

Everything is relatively close to my old regiment of 6mg of Mega Crop + 5ml of Faux Tekt® with one major exception, the Orchidgain mix would only have 25% of the Phosphorus that the Mega Crop mix had. If one were designing a test to see how little P you really need for Cannabis, that seems like it would fill the bill.

6 up, 3 Nl x BB autos, and 2 Zkittlez and 1 Gelato photos. Just in case nothing else comes up, I'm dropping 2 more autos (Big Cheese and Trainwreck) and a Sensi Skunk photo.

Congrats on the new tent chicken! Don't forget to charge it next full/new moon (whichever applies to chickens).

You let us know when that test is going to happen! :thanks:

;)

The new chicken is supposed to arrive Saturday. That's plenty soon enough since I probably won't have tent #2 up and running for another week. In my experience, chickens don't need charged like crystals do.

I may seek further from the true mad scientist of the plant nutrition world, Bill Argo PhD, before embarking on my experiment. I see on his company's website that he has a formula dedicated to cannabis production. I'm really interested to see what it is, but there's no product info for it, you have to contact him by E-mail.
