Growing A Legend: An Auto Tribute To Jack Herer

Just a quick pic to bring a smile to your faces...local farmer by me is growing hemp...didn't realize it was even legal in Maine, but apparently it's a $50 permit....he harvested 6,000 lbs from 3 acres last year....

Is he growing them for the stalks then? Hemp farming seems to be a whole different beast.
He gets $25/lb for the plant whole...he just hangs them and stacks them and off they go. Apparently they use the buds for oil, stalks, etc. He also grows another 3 acres (!) for just the stalks...he uses them to burn his blueberry fields. He feeds the plants to his cattle and pigs...says they love it..

i would grow it primarily on principal and our summer guests would lose their mind. I could feed some of it to my pigs as well. One strong reason is that it (supposedly) cleans the soil, so bonus....

Plus, it would provide a good cover story to explain the reek coming from my GH....

That's awesome, I'd love to farm hemp. I was doing a proposal for a plant science class about growing cannabis for recreational marijuana, but it was funny because I didn't realize how saturated the market is. It seems like it'd be way easier making a living as a hemp farmer at this point. Much more stable market, you're not really dealing with so much grey area, etc.

Woo this strain packs on some weight! I dried my buds until the hygrometer read 62% in the bag, they burn nicely, but it's like rock hard and dense. So I decided to weigh it today and it came out to 76.76 grams! Off just that little plant! If I hadn't already smoked them I'd swear they were still too wet, but this stuff is just dense as a brick. Pickle Rock for scale :P

The smoke is better than the tester bud I had as well. Taste is pretty good so far, obviously will improve with yield. I'm really impressed with the size of the trichomes on this, I feel like this would make an excellent hash plant, but I'm going to be keeping this for flower.

With the rocky start these plants had, they really do sure to impress in the end. I think I'd like to try a whole round of these personally.

Love the Pickle Rock!

So my test dummy came by today, the GF.

She does a much better job of the aspects of different strains effects, well she does smoke a lot more than me

She said she really likes the JHa alot. Still a nice sativa head high and energy, and like @Van Stank said, a higher high than the ATF

I'll be home testing it with my strains and the ATF in a few weeks

I told y'all that it's dense as freaking hell!! I couldn't believe I pulled 6 zips off mine. The buds are like little marbles. Even after grinding up a small nug, it always ends up being more than it should based off the size. It's a crazy strain. I want to grow a photo Jack Herer now. I am looking forward to trying the cob of her.

Congrats on your harvest brother, I am really happy for you!

I just wonder how this kind of thing will effect outdoor grows. It is a great thing that this plant is now getting used the way it should be. So many uses for it. Outdoor hemp production is going to effect other grows, No way around it really. I don't see a way for both can do well outdoors in the same state. 1 thing for sure hemp can't be grown indoors for profit. So it is the THC crowd that is going to have to adapt.

It really becomes a struggle for both because when you farm hemp, you need to have plants that produce less than 1% THC. If your crop is cross-pollinated by a high THC percent drug-cannabis crop, and some of those seeds fall and germinate--which is hard to prevent in a field of thousands of plants. Meanwhile, any plant with more than 1% THC is then no longer a legal hemp plant.

Hello! Here is the latest of the JHa accidental seed baby. Skinny and tall:). I hope my greenhouse lets enough light thru to really grow weed well in it, but who cares if not, it’s fun.
Cheers all.
