GrizzWalds - Aussie Indoor/Outdoor - Choose Your Own Adventure

look what I'm breeding... Since I've up potted they are everywhere.. One of the main reasons I was in coir indoors not soil, pests grrrr.. I've got yellow traps that they avoid. I sprinkled some diatomaceous earth on bottom inch of soil in pot and on top, maybe not enough... Thinking of either doing the slice potato for a couple of weeks but if as bad as I think might do hydro peroxide watering... Surprised there isn't a bug/pests section to download photos into or did I miss it?

That sux, Grizz.. Maybe you could start the bug thread...
Raining where you are?

Finally sunshine, although there's that big weather system thing happening up Queensland, so all our crap is moving north...

Just heard on radio it's moving south..! You might be be in for more...

Only just let up half hour ago here.. My yard is a swimming pool..

Only just stopped raining here, I thought it never would, fingers crossed it's clear tomorrow, I hate harvesting in the rain.

It's tiny, half size of a mozzie.. Gnats, freaking soil is full of them.. Traps are only catching stupid ones, lol.. Outside I'll throw de everywhere but hesitant inside and in pots, I could see an overdose leading to lockouts quickly.. Funny thing is the main pot that's overloaded with them, bubba kush, is doing the best.. I'm in a shit spot with them, having only been transplanted for five days, but I'm going to do an extreme dry out, then water with a h2o2 mix, hopefully that will eradicate the problem.. anybody know how I can eradicate these from the bags before I use it.

No rain here today but we have our own weather system.. 20 min in any direction looked bad.. Cold though, burning some wood this year...

Man that sucks,I've seen mozzies flying around in my tent so will have to catch one to make sure it's a Mozy. Are you using a mix from the hydro store or a Bunnings mix? I've read so many bug dramas from Bunnings mixes

1 GAL Water
1/2 TBSP Cooking Oil (Soybean Oil works best)
1 TBSP Dawn (washing up liquid)
2 TBSP Isopropyl Alcohol

Pour all ingredients into gallon jug with a cap to seal. Be sure to add water FIRST, and leave room for the other ingredients, rather than adding water to soap (it will foam). Cap, and agitate well. Use this as a soil soak anywhere you have gnat infestation.

Also set out a small dish with a 50/50 mix of apple cider vinegar and water, with a drop of dish liquid. Adults will be drawn here. AND DROWN!!

Nursery, I thought I'd go in between the two.. I put a layer of perlite over the bubba after I put the d/e over the soil and watered...adults are everywhere in the perlite.. Perlite is dry, I'm fingers crossed they are all dead in couple of days but I've never dealt with pests inside, so I don't know...

Thanks jandre... I don't know if we can get ISO, il look, everything else is easy...thanks man...

Aussie readers, rage is awesome tonight...

Let's all say a prayer for Heirloom, one of us..

Grizz - i swear by Eco Neem (100 ml bottle @$20) I have used Brunnings Coco from Bunnings and it is not as clean as Canna etc. Usually do several rinses with @6 PH H2O
and after that a good rinse with Eco Neem - let it sit for an hour or 2 and then 1 final water through with some CalMag added H2O
let it sit for a few hours draining and then it is ready. This grow had a few gnats about at the start so a quick water with Neem and all gone. Also had these little tiny bright white crawling insects maybe a quarter the size of a gnat which i guess were either larvae or the root aphid i have seen on Snids post. One spray and all dead although there was only 1 or 2 to be seen at watering time when i stirred up the surface a fair bit. Have used DE before and it is ok but you wont get the results anywhere near Neem
;)
