GreenThumb J's White Widow Clone Run RTF/DWC

WOW, pretty busy night time. :)

You are doing good, my friend. keep watching ~~:cheertwo::cheertwo:

Okay folks.. Quick picture update for tonight cause i'm tired!

Got the Monster tent all set up and running and got the Widow in her new home. I tied down some branches to open up the canopy as well as bring the overall height of the plant down..

Heres the pics!!

It was like Christmas time at GreenThumb J's place:

Then the unboxing of everything:

And the pics of everything set up!:

Okay.. that is all for the evening.. i'm off to bed!

Great update, GT.

My brother be working haaaaard! :goodjob:

Nice shrub you've got there.

Don'tcha love it when a plan comes together?

Yea i'm sure loving it now!! Once it cools off outside, i will be putting the AC directly into the Monster tent to get the temps down even more. i'm thinking with the AC directly in the Monster Tent, the temps will stay around 20-23 thus rendering a water chiller useless for me.

You've got SPACE !!!!

Hell ye Rado! I sure do have some space!. It was nice being able to walk around the table i have in the 4x4 tent. With the Widow and the clones in the Monster tent, i still have a shit load of space to move around in there! Now that the bathroom veg area is empty, i can clean it out and figure out a way to get some colder, fresher air in the bathroom and get the hot air out.

I'm thinking a 6" CoolTube and a 4" extraction fan should be just what the Doctor prescribes

Hey everyone!

Just made another seed purchase a moment ago.

heres what i picked up:

2x Barneys Farm Pineapple Chunk (fem)
10x Sativa Seedbank Blackberry
10x Nirvana Seeds Papaya

HunterNitro is growing some Papaya under CFL's and it looks amazing!! i can only imagine what it looks like grown under HID's!!!

thats all,

GreenThumb Out!

>>>I'm thinking a 6" CoolTube and a 4" extraction fan should be just what the Doctor prescribes

Some of my biggest yields have been with cool tubes. Love em, especially for free standing, non scrogged plants. I scanned a few pages GT, and man you are really kicking it. Good luck getting that tent dialed in. You are going to be wildly successful in there.

I didn't read every page, but a few pages back you were talking about how you make up one gallon of nutrient solution and you add the tea and subculture and let it brew? I'm not sure if I misunderstood you, but here are a couple tips.

1. When you mix up nutrient solution, try to do 4-5 gals at a time. There is much less margin for error. For example, a few ml too much of one ingredient won't throw off the recipe as much. It is good to keep the bucket bubbling.

2. Don't "brew" of mix beneficials with nutrients. The nutrients are tough on the beneficials. I would feed as usual with the nutrients, and then in a separate container, mix up a quart of plain RO/DI water with your beneficial microbes, and then pour about a cup of that mix right on the stalk base. You can do this once or twice a week. This will inoculate the main root mas with the beneficial bacteria, and it is more likely to "stick" to the roots, rather than be flushed down to your reservoir. Even in the DWC, you will get MUCH more benefit from pouring at the base, than diluting it, and possibly killing it with the salty, synthetic nutrients.

And, you'll get much better value from your beneficials you've purchased.

Hey Capn!

Glad to see ya lurking around again, its been awhile!

I will take your advice on the tea and beneficial application.

When i mix up nutrients, i start with 4gals of water and add my nutrients then adjust my PH to 5.8 I add the compost Tea and beneficials every second week with res change as of right now, but once i actually get into a routine and everything gets past the initial vegetative stage and start putting on some growth, i will add the teas twice a week as a root drench.

Thanks for stopping by Capn. Hope to see ya around more often!

Subscribed Greenthumb J, I've read all 17 pages what a great read. You are busier than a 1 legged man in a butt kicking contest, great job. With all of your journals coming on I may have to stop reading the other (95) journals and just concentrate on your journals.

Thanks for subbing up 60cal.

Things really are starting to get busy around here. Later this evening the Gf and I will be germinating some Dinafem OG kush seeds and have her grow a plant! It will be great times I'm sure.

Thanks for your kind words, stay tuned cause there's lots coming up in GreenThumbs apartment!

Sounds like good genetics:)

Is this her first grow?

Is she likely to get hooked on growing ?

Hey Rado, check out The Capn's Dinafem OG kush. looks stellar, and done in 8 weeks flat including a 5 day flush (says The Capn. I sure believe he knows what he's talking about!) Great taste, great stone, great smell and great bag appeal!

Also, looking at s1ingblade's Critical + he has in POTM right now, i would say that Dinafem has some good genetics in their catalog.

This is Lady GreenThumb's first grow that she will be responsible for.

I can almost guarantee she will get hooked like we all are!

Gona have to fight her for the laptop so i can update my own journal hahah

Hey everyone, its been a week, and i promise i will come with an update in the afternoon!!

The clones are looking pretty good, well 4 of them, which is fine cause i think i'm planning on putting them in a 4'x4' flood table and setting up a top feed and throwing them into flower as well in about 2-3 weeks.

The Great white shark plants in the grow box have literally exploded! 2 in particular are just beasts as they each sit directly over an airstone. All 3 GWS plants were topped really young and its looking like 3 fat wide ass bushes going to produce some nice tops (if they turn out females, pretty sure they should) the 2 White Widow x Great White Shark cross are growing just like their White widow mother, topped itself and is growing 2 main tops that will eventually turn into about a half dozen tops per side of the plant. They are both a little slower behind, and one more so than the other, but they will catch up.

I Germinated 27 seeds just the other night (60ish hours ago?) and so far 15 of them have been planted into rockwool with only 2-4 not having cracked the seed casing yet. 10 of those were an additional 10 GWS seeds i found un the stuff that got self pollinated, and all 10 of those popped and have been planted.

I will hopefully post some pictures for everyone tomorrow to give you a little peak at where i'm at.

My seeds should arrive on monday, and i plan to pop some more seeds in a couple weeks so that i can stagger all these harvests!

Try rockwool Dusty. Its pretty forgiving and very easy to flush it.

Its pretty hard to over water rockwool too and its pretty cheap as well. I got a 6cu. ft box of the grow cubes for like $80 from my local hydro shop.

As long as you use beneficial bacteria in your water res, then you wont need to worry really about anything other than your Room temp, RH%, PH and PPM levels. You can sit back and watch your plants explode with growth!!

GreenThumb is back with a kick ass picture update!

So, i read back on the journal and noticed that i germinated the GWSxWW and self pollinated GWS seeds on 7/21, which makes the plants in there just over a month old, not including the first week after breaking the rockwool surface. I dont like to count this 7 days after the seeds are planted in growing medium until i see that they are going to survive longer than 1 week. At that point its day to day until i determine what day to start counting the plants age. I'm going to say the plants are about 5 weeks old right now.

The grow box will have another 2 weeks maximum until switched to flower, so that means about a 2-3 week period between harvesting the White Widow which is almost finished its first week of flower and harvesting the grow box. Since this plant was so matured already, it took MAYBE 48 hours to start seeing bud development. I switched the lighting schedule on wednesday. its now Monday, and in 5 days, this plant is starting to put the buds on all over. With no stretch at all! Normally you count the first day of flowering when you see pistils. If you have a plant that is as matured as much as the one i am flowering, you already have pistils everywhere, and your plant goes right into bud development

So heres a kick ass photo update and such!! i'm going to try to keep this organized as best as possible

I'm going to start with the Grow box plants.

Thats all for the night.. i'm pooched and gona hit the sack.

Looking great Green Thumb, Are you not worried about overcrowding in the grow box though? The plants seem very close to each other, and you have all those empty slots in the grow box. I would spread the plants out as much as possible inside that grow box.
The plants are looking nice though, and holy big leaf in that pic!!

Hey stealth..

Yes i am planning on spreading them out before i make the switch to flower. Just where they are right now, they're all over top of an air stone, so i'm contributing the rapid growth to the fact the roots are over air stones, as well as the beneficials i had in the res last week..

No bennies on the res change last night, but i will be making a root drench with my beneficials and applying it to the root crown tomorrow.

What i AM actually worried about a little bit, is the amount of sprouts that i have that are 1.5" long and needing a transplant tonight or tomorrow. I have 15 of them needing a transplant tonight or tomorrow, and the space in my veg area is pretty much all taken as you can see from my clone pictures!!

My only real option until i move the clones into flower, is to put all the freshly sprouted seeds under the LED until the clones move from the bathroom into the Flower tent, which will be anywhere from 2-4 weeks. So about the same time it takes for a cracked seed to turn into a seedling. Hmmm.. that actually kinda works for my veg/flower schedule.

Anyways. I gotta head off to work on this lovely labour day Monday. Gotta love that holiday pay!

Hey CJ,

Yes, the grow box is putting along WITHOUT co2.. The grow box comes built in with a co2 distributor inside the box. Just attach the hose to the regulator and attach that to a co2 cylinder. Check out my first post for the full picture run down on this grow box.

I have to say, if you can keep the grow box in a very cold area, like an in-ground basement suite, so that the ambient temp outside the box doesn't actually warm up the inside any more than the MH or HPS lights do, then you would have a very efficient grow cab.

Also, if you dont mind voiding the warranty on the grow box, then 2 holes should be drilled into the side to allow for a water chiller to be attached to keep the reservoir under 20 degress. as well as a small oscillating fan should be an option in there also.

with these couple of minor tweaks, this box would be unstoppable..

OH yea.. it needs to be taller too, or you need to put it up on blocks so you add some height to it.. i cant stand getting down on my hands and knees to take a look at the plants or look inside the reservoir.

I'm not physically challenged, or injured or immobile, but i tell ya what, its a fuckin PITA even for an able bodied person!! Imagine someone with a fucked up back? or bad knees? how are they supposed to bend over and tend to their plants???

I got a little bit of an update thats related to my other journal, but i figured i would tell everyone following along here.

Last night i received a discount code good for 15% off the purchase of a Twilight Classical 165w LED panel, just like the one i am reviewing for Twilight Groups Ltd, in my sponsored journal.

If anyone is interested in this awesome little light, then please visit their webiste and purchase this great LED at a 15% discount with FREE shipping!

Heres a link directly to the Classical 165w LED

The Code is "420mag" enter this in the checkout for your 15% off along with free shipping!!

My sprouts are really loving it as well as the Sweet Tooth is about to start exploding with growth in the next week or two.

I'll be very interested to see its vegetative capabilities once this Sweet Tooth takes off and starts growing like... a weed!

A big thanks to J-Sun and his Boss Sean over at Twilight Groups Ltd., for making this all possible!

Go check it out people!!

Hey everyone!

I just realized that i dont really have a journal going for the large widow plant i have in flower. It was originally part of my first journal, but thats been long completed!

SO i guess i will just continue to update it here with the clones i took from the same widow plant.

heres an update from last night, that i forgot to post with my picture update.

The widow is now 6 days into 12/12 and has shown buds since the second day. Not just pistils, full bud formation. It really helps to veg your plants long enough for them to reach sexual maturity, to go straight into bud development. This Widow was in vegetative state since the middle of march until 6 days ago, you will see just how big she is grown in a 5gal bucket!

This particular plant has not stretched very much in height, probably due to the fact i tied down all the leader branches, so the plant is growing sideways sort of!! I love it cause the plant is UN-scroged, when i originally planned to put a Scrog over top of her to manage the height.

I'm not worried about the plant getting close to the cool tubes cause the intake duct that the fan draws the air from is directly in front of the cold air stream from my AC unit, so the cool tubes are COLD to the touch!! Like COLD COLD!! directly below the bulb tho, it is warm, but thats only about a 3 inch by 1 inch area!

So without further ado, here is just a few pictures of day 5 of flowering. I'm thinking she needs a little more N right now tho, the new bud growth is coming in a little lime green in colour!!

Thats how she looked just the other night.. Not last night like i actually thought, i looked at the time stamp on the photos. August 31 the pics were taken, so only day 5 of flower.

i will post some more pictures of the Widow as she starts to stack on the buds!!
