Graytail's Cupwinners in High Brix Soil - 4x4 - 600W HPS - Perpetual

"Here's her devine ugliness":rofl: She is lookking ugly, but what a flower to leaf ratio! She is fat! +reps

Not that you would win, but wouldn't an ugliest plant of the month contest be awesome?

On another point, those JD1's are looking phenomenal, just perfect. It is going to be really fun seeing those bulk up. Who knows you could win UPOTM POTM and NOTM all in the same month :)

LOL, Rain, ain' she an ugly thang?

Unfortunately, she jus' plain ol' street ugly, no prizewinner. Her sister might become something, though, we'll see.

I'm happy with all of the kit stuff so far, except for the slow growth.

Thanks for the reps! :thanks:

LOL! I thought you were serious on the first couple reads.

Ya ... I don' remember my parents being concerned about playing in chlorinated hose water! (Oh Gawd, CHLORINE!!!!??)

:laughtwo::rofl:

I am serious, i noticed your filter required a garden hose hook up. regular hoses are made pliable by chemicals that leach from the hose their whole life. remember as a kid taking a drink from a hose that had the water sitting in it? the hose water was contaminated with chemicals from the hose.

Hmm, well as it turned out, I just needed a short hose so I got one for washer hookup - white plastic. Dunno if that's the same material ...

I put on the strong glasses this morning and discovered a nice surprise - a lovely infestation of trichs all over my Jamaican Dreams. They're 2 weeks into bloom.

I don't like the way the Kerala looks. Why is it yellowing?

The youngsters got fed today. They were dry yesterday so I soaked them good and fed them today into that saturated soil.

The Jamaican Dreams are 83 days old and have been showing pistils for 15 days. They've had Transplant twice and Energy once, so it was Transplant's turn. I just realized I forgot the Tea - I'll do that tomorrow.

The Kerala3 is 107 days old and has been showing pistils for 20 days. It also had Transplant twice and Energy once, but it's a little older and I want to see what effect the Cat drench has on it before I do the Jamaicans. I don't know why it's yellowing at this age - reminds me of what the one in mineralized soil looked like before I gave it the drench and that didn't go well. But this Kerala3 isn't a high priority plant. I can screw it up if it teaches me something.

And - tada! - my Panama seed sprouted! :cheertwo:

Still waiting on Tangerine Dream and Wild Thailand.

Thanks stealth!

Heheh, I was surprised at how excited I was to see a seed sprout. What is it about that - just feels good. Got my fingers crossed for the other two ...

The more I read about Panama the more I like it.

Is that yellowing plant in kit soil?

It's creating life, it's like your baby.

How big is the container?
Have you top dressed re-charge?

I topdressed the recharge a week ago and it's in a 6 gallon pot.

I have an idea but I don't want to prejudice anyone.

Well, it's a large plant in a smallish pot....definitely looks nute burned a bit, but not at all critical. Probably too much Energy at one point.

I think I'd go with straight water for a good flush....like maybe pour 3 gallons through it, and then pour 1 more gallon after the 3 of this:

1/2 oz transplant
1ml Tea

None of the other plants are exhibiting this?

Also, I'm assuming your soil was cooked properly.

The only other blooming plants in the kit soil are the two Jamaican Dreams, and they're gorgeous, but that was also the strain that breezed through the mineralized soil grow with no issues. In fact, it's startling how beautiful they are. They look like the young flowering plants I saw in your grows - f'n trichs everywhere!

So, I'd like to figure out whether the Kerala is a canary, or just inferior genetics. The last time it was fed was trans/tea 2 weeks ago. I soaked it 2 days ago and yesterday it got cat drench, so I'll have to put off any flush.

As far as the cook - I never saw any fuzz. Otherwise I have no reason to think it didn't cook. Temps were 60-90 for over a month.

What happens to the soil if I have a lot of calcium in my water? Mag def perhaps?

There's nothing wrong with anything you said. Is this plant a clone of another plant that also had problems?

No, this Kerala is from seed - the previous two were sisters. The Jamaicans are nice and green, while the Kerala is a more yellow/pale tone. They've all been grown under identical conditions, so the Kerala must be more vulnerable to something. There's a lot more sativa in it, so the paler color doesn't bother me so much, but it shouldn't be yellowing this early.

The only thing that really differs from the norm is my water, but my water report doesn't give mineral levels so I'm flying in the dark. I'm pretty sure the scale deposits are calcium based, so the soil gets more calcium than normal. Also, from the mineralized grow, I've wondered if the yellowing of higher, light-side leaves might have been a sulfur and/or mag def. You know the mineral ratios and interactions better than I do. This yellowing on this one isn't high and/or light-side, though.

Good news, though, my Tangerine Dream sprouted! :cheertwo:

i seriously doubt there could be a deficiency, but the pot size might be working against you a bit....but not that much.

I think it will be OK, as long as you're careful not to over feed it.

Seeds can be weird sometimes. I popped 10 last time and one of the plants just up and died for no good reason. The rest were just fine. You never know.

I'll keep an eye on your journal and do what I can to help, but so far you're doing everything right and you have some gorgeous plants to prove it...other than the knucklehead Kerala.
