Graytail's Cupwinners in High Brix Soil - 4x4 - 600W HPS - Perpetual

Thanks, BAR and Crawdaddy!

I'm kinda thrilled with Kerala3 and Hawaiian Snow. They're both turning out better than I had feared. I'll have test buds in a few days.

Hey Doc,

I blew away my first innocent bystanders with the high brix Jamaican Dream tonight. They were both experienced smokers, too.

Heheh.

That Jamaican looks awesome! I love the purpling. What are your night temps at? I am surprised at how much the Kerala is bulking up, she is really coming around.

I am not sure what to think about that Hawaiian Snow. That's a crazy looking plant. You might stumble on something special there.

The HS surprised me. I really haven't examined what's been going on under those leaves until recently. Today I noticed significant bud swelling for the first time, so I took a closer look and those colas are composed of hard thumb-sized nugs spiraling all the way down - they're gonna have some heft to 'em. The incense/peppery aroma is ramping up. I've tested some weak lower buds and it has some pretty good punch, too.

But Kerala3 looks like an entirely different plant from her sisters. Wow.

Speaking of wow, your GWS is ridiculous!

[Edit] Forgot to answer - my room is running a little cold. I'm getting lows around 60 degrees. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I love your sense of humor......"innocent bystanders" classic. Just thought they were gonna have a toke with their home-growin' buddy....force a couple compliments.....BAM!

Whoa! What's this?

Now you see what all the fuss and hubbub is about High Brix. Big difference between the mineralized soil and the real deal, eh?

It's been great to be able to make the comparison between some pretty darned good mineralized soil, and properly "tuned" high brix soil.

I've grown Kerala and JD in both soils now, and the high brix is simply on another level. My controls haven't been all that perfect - one might assume that I would become better at growing with each successive run, for instance - but the difference isn't all that subtle. I believe it's the soil.

Thanks for doing the groundwork, Doc!

I really like your method of measuring output! +reps again. I wish this was the standard! :high-five:

The JD is just one example, but the shorter veg time didn't make much difference when it comes to GPD. Big implications for those who grow multiple strains because they enjoy variety.

You're so welcome! Thanks for being a "beta" tester and helping all of us become better growers, providing healthier plants and healthier, more effective product.

It's funny how this stuff gets around......I gave an eighth to one of my employees and she took it camping in Big Sur over the weekend. She explained that they were all daily smokers at the campfire, two of them growers.

I got two emails this morning from the growers demanding fertilizer and promises to pay a consulting fee up front if I could show them how to grow High Brix weed.....yes, it's really that good.

I know there are a handful of "haters" out there, and probably more than a few skeptics. (I'd be a skeptic for sure if I hadn't done this yet.) Thanks for chiming in with your experience! It matches mine and almost everyone else who has grown or smoked a truly high brix product.

Better is better. Period.

As you become more familiar with using the kit you'll do even better bro! Expect your next 4 cycles to each be an order of magnitude better than the last. That would mirror my experience, as well as some of the other high brix guys like Curso and Steppenwolf.....yes, it's going to get even better and your friends are going to trip.

The best advice I can give at this point is to stick to the plan and start looking for strains that:

1. you personally like
2. you can grow very well
3. grow well in High Brix soil.

Think pure, un-crossed strains as opposed to "hydro" strains. IE: Nepalese Highland or Lambsbread would work better than Green Crack.......Landrace Afghani or Paki will work better than GDP.....

You'll figure it out and that's more than half the fun.

Have you tried smoking like 10-12 large hits of high brix weed yet? I've found that 3 hits gets me baked and silly......10 hits puts me in my right mind, way beyond "buzzed," definitely not stoned......but clearly high. Very, very high with super clear thinking, creativity and a wonderful sense of self-introspection.

If you do this with your significant other you'll have some fun with the physical aspects of it too!

Funny you mention this. I'm on a sabbatical of sorts, indulging myself for the time being, and I've been totally undisciplined in my smoking habits - I smoke as much as I want, whenever I want, for as long as I want. I was actually startled that these guys turned down another hit when I thought it still needed a lil cap to it, ya know? Uh oh. All of us have been smoking the herb daily for decades, so it gives me some pause. I've been flyin' kinda high, I guess, and one of the consequences is tolerance. I'm not really getting to the place you're talking about anymore with the JD. There's the SLH, but whew, that stuff will mess you up! But I get me some fine Hawaiian Snow soon, and there's not much of an upper limit on that. The test buds have been ... illuminating.

See, one of the things I'm looking for now that I have complete control over what I smoke, is that high all us old freaks remember. It may just have been an illusion of youthful awe - nostalgic distortion - but all of these strains ring bells in my memory. The JD actually does remind me of that sweet warm high that the old landrace Jamaican had. The Hawaiian reminds me of that great "high octane" Columbian Gold - a soaring limitless high. I have Wild Thailand on deck - if I can find a well behaved plant with a spicy Thai Stick high, I'd be ecstatic. The Utopia comes from Brazilian sativas. The Kerala is Indian. Gonna be fun exploring!

I would love to get a cut of your Lemon Paki, or better yet, your Champagne. Mmmmph!

THAT'S WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR!!! That Old School back-in-the-day High School THAI STICK. If anyone has a lead on these beans PM me ASAP!!! I've been on the look-out for this for nearly 10 yrs.

Thai Stick FTW!!:yummy:

There's a Thai Stick available, but I bet it's a bi*ch to grow.

You'll find your own "special" cuts. Be patient and fully immersed in growing and it will find you!

Old school Thai stick was dipped in opium processing residue......but my Champagne comes very, very close to what we all remember. Tolerance is the problem we're running up against. Take a month away from smoking and things are different......so I hear. I haven't tried that yet.....

It truly is a special varietal

Lemon Paki was gifted to me by someone who said, literally, "This is sacred. Keep it. Share it only with special people." Nothing gets people as excited as the LP....

That soaring high we all remember is attainable.....harvest slightly early on a good Sativa. I'll be growing the Oaxacan highland soon.....hopefully this will be a special strain.

I also have the lowland Columbian Red Bud.....this was the "Cheech and Chong" weed from the '70's. Whacky, silly, laughy, munchie weed.

With me that's NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

Lemon Paki
Where do I find these?

Shoot!

With me that's NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

Where do I find these?

They aren't available to the public. Sorry bro. I have quite a library of rare stuff and a friend/associate who has thousands of seeds from hundreds of strains. We'll both die before we can grow half of them.

Champagne is a pheno of a 100% Thai sativa from this library. I am keeping clones of it and while I think I can find the pheno again with the seeds, I keep the cuttings close so I always have it.

Lemon Paki, IMO, could easily win a cannabis cup. The few here who have tried it will agree.......I think. Shottafire? What say you?

Now you're just rubbing it in Doc!
