Graytail's Cupwinners in High Brix Soil - 4x4 - 600W HPS - Perpetual

There are all sorts of ways of measuring yield and another one occured to me, so I checked it out. Grams per day - yield divided by the total number of days you had to mess with 'em, from seed/clone to chop.

Here are my numbers so far:

Northen Lights Auto1 - 40 grams, 85 days = 0.471 grams/day
Northen Lights Auto2 - 48 grams, 105 days = 0.457
Northen Lights Auto3 - 44 grams, 84 days = 0.524
Super Lemon Haze - 69 grams, 87 days = 0.793
Jamaican Dream - 52 grams, 93 days = 0.559
Indian Skunk1 - 77 grams, 128 days = 0.602
Indian Skunk2 - 72 grams, 120 days = 0.600

The SLH was a real standout!

Grams per day is a cool metric! I'm delighted by it.

Isn't that interesting?! It has some fascinating implications for strain selection.

LOVE SLH!!!!!!One of my faves for sure.

This is genius^^^^^. It just makes so much more sense. For me being a newb I didn't even understand when a seed house says 90 days, that means 90 days in flower (under perfect conditions). I used to think it meant from seed! Also understanding weight/area is sort of ambiguous. This makes a lot more sense intuitively. You are one sharp dude! +reps

The grow is looking fantastic, but that is pretty self evident at this point. :thumb:

Update time.

The Jamaican Dreams have now officially blown me away. They're ridiculous - icky, sticky, stinky messes, so plump that they're falling over. You can't touch 'em without coming away sticky. I brushed my sleeve against one and stank of Jamaican Dream all day. They're turning pretty autumn colors. I just keep shaking my head in awe. I've grown over a thousand marijuana plants in my time, and I never saw anything like this before. The test buds have been every bit as potent as the SLH, and I just can't get over the scent - new terpenes - I think they have some pineapple in them now - like pineapple sweet pickle salsa or sumpin. Wow ... jus' ... wow.

I had them both scheduled to chop this coming weekend, but I took a good look and saw some amber trichs and about half cloudy. I don't have much space to dry in, so on Monday I chopped JD1, and I'll take JD2 down this weekend. I'm interested to see what they yield!

Hawaiian Snow continues to be a trouper, albeit a rather annoyingly slow one. She was 149 days old this weekend, 99 days since pistils and I put off her harvest another week to Nov 17. That'll be 22 weeks in 12/12, 17 weeks flowering. But her brix remains strong at 15, and she's looking as healthy as she's looked in weeks. I gave her some cat drench along with Kerala3 and I think she liked it - I'm seeing some calyx swelling. I gave her another dose today, 10 days later. At 3 weeks from harvest, I don't have much to lose.

Kerala3 actually looks like a nice marijuana plant, nothing like her ugly sisters, and the cat drench I gave her made her plump up her calyxes and preen some - she's pretty. And she's going to finish two weeks earlier. I'm finally going to get a taste of some good Indian Skunk.

JD3 looks like she could have come out of veg earlier, heheh - she really wide. But mmph, she's reading 14/15 brix! This one is on track to be the best of 'em all.

White Panther is growing like a weed - 4 inches since she went into 12/12 - and she sprouted her pistils this weekend, right on schedule. I still like this strain.

I LSTed Panama. She was really vigorous, and growing straight up, just beautifully ... but I can't have a 4 foot plant, much less a 6-footer, so I bent her over.

I like this Wild Thailand! What a well behaved little beauty it is.

Tangerine Dream had some issues. One day I realized that the new little tops were turning pale and drying up. I don't know why. After I confirmed it the next day, I just pinched them off and the other tops look fine. So, it got topped twice. There'll be a lot of tops and it'll be in veg longer.

It was time to pot the clones, so WP1 and SLH1 got new homes. WP1 is gorgeous - perfect color, firm lime green new leaves reaching up ...

Why can't you come over this weekend and smoke some of that Jamaican Dream with me? Seriously, that's one of the most delicious plants I've ever seen.

Interesting what our plants can do if we take care of them properly, eh?

And they aren't really very high brix plants. They typically read lower than other strains in my grow. I can only wonder what a 16 brix plant would be like! I'm still not sure that high brix is what's producing this difference. As you hinted at recently, plants with soils much different from ours easily produce high brix readings. I don't think it's the brix itself - I suspect it's the "tuned" soil.

Y'know Doc, if I was closer I'd take you up on the invite! I'd really like to see a 21st century commercial grow.

:Namaste:

Great update. The JDs look great. That HS is taking forever, spindly buds, interested to know what the high is like from its smoke. I bet they be a great sativa high.

+reps for the harvest

I've been testing buds for the past week. I'm still waiting for the finish swell, and without a cure there's a lot of chlorophyl in the smoke, but it has good potency and a nice clear high. I've also only had weak lower buds. I think it will be some good smoke, but not even close, yieldwise, to being worth the time I invested. That's also what makes it special. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Thanks for the reps!

I wouldn't sweat the number's to much bro. I only took some readings because I thought of it. If your plants are..healthy, happy, reaching for the light and bug and mold free, your above 13 and honestly that to me is all that matters. The produce from plants that are all of those above things will be second to none. Your there bro. Be happy. Your plants look amazing.

JD1 yielded 65 grams - 2.32 ounces. Not bad for a 24 inch plant!

It took 121 days to get there = 0.537 gms/day, compared to its mother, Jamaican Dream - 52 grams, 93 days = 0.559 gms/day.

Oddly consistant.

Update tomorrow ...

Thanks, Any2!

I chopped and washed JD2 today, and I think she may yield more.

Update:

It's one of those fun periods during a grow - I have weekly harvests all month and the new girls are growing up, beginning to flower ... all reward and reinvigoration!

JD1 is dried and in the jar and JD2 is chopped and drying.

Kerala3 is looking fantastic! The drench really puffed her up. I didn't get a good pic of her calyxes, but they're swelling up nicely and the trich production looks good. I may be able to harvest this one in a week - we'll see.

Hawaiian Snow also got drench, even though she's in mineralized soil, and it helped. I'm seeing some swelling. It's difficult to see past all those sativa leaves, but there's a serious forest of trichs under there, and the colas are fat and hard. This is going to be good smoke and decent yield.

Both White Panther and JD3 have set pistils and are stretching - I'd really like to get more than 24 inches out of these two. Caramelo hasn't shown any reaction to 12/12 yet.
