Graytail's 3rd: 4x4, HiBrix, Latest LED Tech, Lots Of Light!

I'm losing track of the days Graytail. I can't believe I missed you last night. Whew! Time to get home. I'm counting the days.

You have this way of making every single one sound and look so tempting that we all want to run out and start our own. :laughtwo: There were a number of times with this update when I gasped right out loud. The pictures and promise of fresh Carnival made me groan that I won't have room in my new grow to fit one in, but you can bet your bottom dollar I'll start one as soon as I can, and if I can figure a way to sneak one in this time I will. Good grief, yours looks so tasty my mouth waters just looking at her.

I'm looking at the pictures of Freddy's Best and imagining you bending those stalks over again and again. :laughtwo: I can't wait to duplicate that action. I'm gonna be in the zone channeling you again. :slide:

I may have missed this last night, but finding it here has made my morning so much brighter. Thank you for that. :kisstwo:

I love the way Tikal's playing with you. I expect the payoff to be worth the wait. She certainly has made the journey fun to watch. Pure eye candy, that one. Someday.......

:adore::adore::adore: Too darn many beautiful plants! How am I supposed to pick my favorite? OK - it is still Carnival, but the gap is closing.

I have photos of the CarnivalB chop - very nice colas!. :yahoo:

This is the densest weed I've harvested yet, nothing but cola, almost no little stuff. And the trichs look pretty good, too!

:adore: You nail it every time
was trying to find a favorite beside carnival but scrolled up and down and still undecided.
Y, Dr or Taskentie :surrender:

:high-five: That are some great colas.
I was also very surprised how dense my carnival is.

Congrats on the CarnivalB chop Gray.

CarnivalB is dried and jarred and yielded 52 grams, 1.83 ounces over 156 days = 0.335 grams per day. :cheesygrinsmiley:

It's not a heavy yield but it's as much as I expected, and it's a lot closer to dispensary quality buds than I've been producing, compact and well-formed. The last few plants have all been showing some of the benefits of a lot of LED light. :cheesygrinsmiley: When I snip nugs off the stems, I usually snip them down to grape sized, and I've always had a lot of fluffy popcorn buds. The buds I pull out of the jars are all denser now. :slide: But the idea that yield will increase as you increase power is false, in my experience. I got better yield with 600 watts of hps. I think yield depends more on the size of the canopy and the volume of the soil. I have the same sized canopy (albeit it with a little more depth) and the same volume of soil, so no increase in actual yield. Quality is up - yield is not.

CarnivalB - 156 days old - 71 days 12/12 - 61 since pistils - Brix 19/22

Yo GT
How many led watts ya got there?

:cheesygrinsmiley: At the moment I'm running 335 with the Advanced LED XML350 and another 665 from the corner panels = 1000 even. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Damn! Thats wattage alright!
It's a little disappointing to hear yield is less with 1k led's than with a 600w hid.
I'll be getting some lights soon.
I would expect to yield to be the same or more. I figured you have been running these strains for a bit so you would definitely know.

You should be able to count on higher yield because the canopy will be deeper, but it's not proportionate. And I've had a lot of pest pressure from the whiteflies. In a similar environment, I'm sure that 1000 watts of LED will outyield 600 watts of hps significantly, just not 67% more. Buds and trichs will be denser though. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Gotcha! Makes sense man. Thx for responding.

Gray, absolutely over the top brotha! You don't need high yields anyhow Gray....fu..k sakes mon, look at all those jars ya got now!
But,...since the subject is here, IMO yield is determined by ANY one of the limiting factors, and ya brotha, light is one.You mentioned another , as well, amount of soil...:surf: You can have all the lite and water ya want, ...but when the tank is empty, things go down hill rapidly, every time, no matter how much lite . My goal has always been to have all those LF's. near the top (but with no added CO2). It's a crazy , wallet draining , experience.:tokin: Anyhow , lil guy's got hockey tonight, cheers gang! Gotta BOOOK!

Wow, stunning tric and cola shots. In my grow, weight and quality have been consistently inversely associated, excepting some special ones here and there. Crushing it as always Gray. :high-five: I'm going to run a good sized Carnival (maybe 10gal) after I run the Chem crosses. :thanks:

I recently ran into the gram/watt metric on a couple journals and it surprised me that I hadn't thought of it in awhile. I actually don't know what I get - I imagine it's in the 0.60-0.75 range but I don't know. It just seemed like a metric I didn't want to chase, y'know? Don't you lose quality when you win yield? :hmmmm: Certainly, a plant in prime health will yield at its maximum, so the two can go hand in hand. But I'd rather chase quality and get yield as a bonus, being a hobby grower and not dependent on Return on Investment. :laughtwo: Although, heheh, I'll actually break even in a couple years if I don't buy any more stuff. Sure, that'll happen.

Still, big ones are better ones, right? And big beautiful ones are even better than that. C'est live, non? :;):

The never-ending call of "more". :laughtwo: I swore this grow wouldn't need any investment beyond a closet for a grow space. Yeah, right.

My plants seem to run lower weight than I would imagine they could. But I am always so happy with the trichome level I am willing to sacrifice a bit. I certainly still do ok. My goal has always been to make something to smoke that is hard to find anywhere else. I am not saying you can't have both yield and trichs. This is a personal finding that only relates to what I have seen in my room.
