Awright, fellow cannabis agronomists and aficionados - and all you loades, too! - time for another update from Graytail's garden!
The first news is this:
My Desfran is no more! - kaput, finis, done, chopped! Sayonara! *Sigh* Yeah, that feels good.
I didn't do my research, I thought it was a Destroyer, and I pulled the wildest fluffiest Thai sativa pheno of anyone growing it this round. Bah, and also, grumph. The final straw was ... get this ... how friggin' trite passe cliche can't it be ... she decided to hermie! *Rolleyes* Really? REALLY? The giant pain in the ass decided she'd start growing some male bits. Nu uh. Graytail's patience done run out, honey snoogums. So now she's a pile of stems.
Pffft! Look at the mess she was making, stretching out at the tips again. I woulda had to mess with the photoperiod or wait out another several weeks. I put two well-behaved plants in her place. But! ... I found a mature seed in the test buds I took - interesting.

Tikal though, is behaving herself nicely. The old faded fans aren't magically becoming healthy, but they're dying very slowly, and the rest of the growth looks pretty solid. The buds are starting to get seriously sticky and the aroma continues to ramp up. I reread the genetics of Tikal - Guatemalan x Kush Haze - and I'm pretty sure I have the Guatemalan pheno with the prominent strawberry smell. I feel lucky! I like this pheno! And the cuts take well ... gonna run this one for awhile if the smoke is good.

BHxDestroyer continues to impress me. Now she's growing big fat buds.

BHxNexus has been the first to dry out every time, so she's suffering a bit from that, but the color is still great and I like the trich production I'm seeing. I liked Nexus even though there wasn't much of it, so I'm interested in how this turns out. I didn't take cuts of this one, but I have a lot more seeds. Nexus is Brazilian sativa x Blue sativa. Buddha Haze is Amnesia Haze (Afghan/Hawaiian x Laos x Jamaica) x Manga Rosa (Brazilian landrace sativa). The Nexus pheno had the compact Blue sativa color and habit with a nice spiritual Brazilian buzz. The Buddha Haze had the Brazilian buzz with a better punch. So this one has all sorts of potential.

I'm really lovin' this Utopia Haze x Carnival. It's a cross of my two favorite strains, and I've just been keeping my hopes way down, but this leaf posture and bud development is looking a lot like good ol' Carnival, and if I can get the combined buzz in a plant with Carnival's habit and vigor, I'll be really happy! I have cuts in soil already and it looks like they're taking. This one could be a breeding success.

OHS1 is another beauty - too bad the smoke is meh.

Tikal1 is 15 inches tall with 8 good tops, so into the bloom room she goes! This is a vigorous strain.

BHxUH joined her. I might have vegged this one another week, but it's good and mature, and I'm not entirely sure how much a Haze x Haze cross is gonna stretch.
Buddha Haze x Utopia Haze - 70 days old
I kept Carnival in veg for another week partly to fatten her up a bit more and also because the bloom room is getting a bit crowded with 7 plants in there. Another week will be better for everyone.
Carnival - 65 days old
I upcanned Y Griega at 53 days, Channel+ at 55 days and DrGrinspoon at 59 days
Tikal2 got topped. This was a lanky clone growing alternate nodes, and I almost LSTed it - just made a snap decision, so to speak.
Tikal2 - 78 days old
Purple Haze - 3 days and another Carnival - 16 days
I took a pile of cuts from BHxUH
And a few from Tikal1 ...
The OHS cuts all have root nodes after 20 days ...
I have two healthy looking Utopia Haze x Carnivals in cups ...
And this is the top from Carnival. These never root for me, but this has been in a cup for 11 days now and still hasn't wilted. Oddly enough, the stem is rotting in the cup. Go figure - interesting science experiment.
