Grandpa's Second Try - Come Join Us!

Which model growant lights do you have? Only their high end ones are programmable the others are plug and play. I have four of their smaller lights and it was just attach the cord and flip the switch.

He has a "Growant is a 400w full spectrum, fully programmable LED."

That's much different then the ones I have then. Sue's are just like mine too. I just looked on Amazon and they sure do make it confusing. They have one that says "full spectrum programmable LED grow light" with a warning right below it that says "Caution this unit isn't programmable". Wish I had the programmable one so I could help.

We have the 400w G5, I think. It's the one they give away on the GJOM contest. It is programmabble.

Thanks for trying, doc!

I checked the prizes and the exact model you should have is "GROWant G5PRO-G400", from going to their website this is the video.

I couldn't begin to transcode it but I'm hopefully someone can. It looks like this thing is like programming the VCR was back in the good old days.

Cool Dr.Doob, thanks again.

GOOD Grandpa!!! go getum'

Last resort...send me the video and I'll write out step by step instructions. I don't think we'll need to go this far, but I'm totally willing to do it for you.
Definitely no need to do that. I wouldn't presume to ask you to do anything like that, or anyone else for that matter. Very sweet, as always, of you to offer! :thumb

hey DrDoob,

You're right, it's just like programming a VCR...lol

This is a difficult video for me to watch, darn, I wish it wasn't bright pink with white lettering. Then I could do this. If I had LED glasses I could do this. :)

This thing actually feels flat where their programming panel is. I have no sense of a button anywhere. If I didn't know it was there, I would think it was a blank decorative panel. The videos have no voices to describe anything. Just music. Thank you for taking the time to find and post them, and the research you are doing for us now.

The video has words on the screen kind of explaining what is going on. It looks like a touch screen type panel that's why you can't feel the buttons.

Grandpa, do you have any small stickers? What we need to do is create finger landmarks on the buttons so we can tell you which button is which. We need to put a sticker on top of each button, so we can direct you properly.

Dr. Doob, Could you please write out the text in the pink video for Grandpa, if you don't mind. It's not a lot but it's a start to go from. Sorry to ask, but it would help out a lot. :)

I wish I could but I'm on my phone, I think my translation would make it more confusing. If it doesn't get solved I can do it in the morning.

Lady G...I feel like such a dunce. We use those for me to be able to use the microwave and my coffee maker. We'll just have to get a different pattern of sticker for each button. Don't know why it didn't come to me!! DUH!
Doc...we certainly hope that we can get this done before that becomes necessary. I know that the bloom, veg and clone settings come pre-programmed. So if I have those buttons with stickers on them, it should be fine. I'm sure that somehow we can figure out how to set the clock so that we can start it in the 18 - 6 cycle when it is needed. This is all that is stopping us from dropping the beans and the wool in the water. Thank you for being willing to do all of this!

Besides setting the clock and the seemingly optional sunrise, sunset and lightning settings it seems relatively simple. I wish I was home and could transcribe that video.

Are we having fun Grandpa? :laughtwo: I have no experience with this panel, but what I can do is transcribe the video for you. Give me a little bit of time. I'll be back ASAP.

Allow me. :battingeyelashes: The notes with an asterisk beside them are my comments.

How to select a grow mode and turn on the sunrise/sunset, lightening flashes and cloud cover.

There are four grow modes to choose from: Veg, Clone, Bloom, Custom.

* These are the first four buttons on the panel from the left, in that order.

Simply tap the grow mode you want to be applied.
Veg turns off after 18 hours.
Clone turns off at 21 hours.
Bloom turns off at 12 hours.
Custom mode you can choose any time.

All you have to do is set the time you want the lights to turn on. To do so, hold down the grow mode that you want applied. Once you do that the time will start to flash. Select the time you want the light to turn on.

* The arrow buttons change the time by 30 minute increments.

Once you've selected the on time, tap the grow mode button. This will now let you start setting up the sunrise, sunset, cloud cover and lightening strikes. Use the up and down buttons to activate the features you want applied.

* This is a simple on/off choice using the up and down arrows to make your choice. As you choose a feature and then choose on or off, you then tap the grow mode button and it moves to the next selection. The selections are presented as S (for sunrise), S (for sunset), F (flashes), and C (clouds).

Once you're all done, tap the power button to save the settings.

I hope that makes it easier Grandpa. This is pretty straightforward programming. I never really played with video recording, but this is as simple as any VCR I saw manipulated. :laughtwo:

Please, don't ever hesitate to seek me out if you need my help with anything. I was more than glad to help. :hugs:
