Grandpa's Second Try - Come Join Us!

If it weren't for all of the people like this on this site, I wouldn't even be attempting to grow our own Meds. We would just keep going to our dispensary and spend money that would go better into our grocery budget. We both have special diets, and with the budget as it is, we are not able to follow those diets properly because of the lack of funds. Once we get something going with the grows, then that money can go into our grocery budget so that we can eat according to our diets that will keep us as healthy as possible. So... As you can all see this means a lot more to us than just having free meds. I cannot count how many people have done things like this for us here on 420 mag. This is the latest Testament to the kind of people that populate these forums. Thank you all again, all of you who has sent us things and also offered advice, whether it be one or both. You guys are also a testament of how God wants us to treat our fellow person. Bravo and may God bless!

Blaze...thanks for checking in with your valuable opinions. You are more than welcome here. As far as the watering and feedings, we have been trying to wait until they tell us they need it. We have only used nutrients once, as after we started that, and startedthe using the new light, this started, so we've been doing water only, which is why the others are trying to concentrate on that right now. We have also done one full flush.. I did lift the pots yesterday, and they were still very heavy. We are also going to follow OT's recommendation and Place something under the pots so they can get air flow from the bottom.

Hopefully we can find a row system that we can use either with an outdoor faucet, or directly onto the faucet of the sink. I am not able to install under the sink, obviously. Since we are living in a fairly rural area, there is no one that I can call on to help with that.
Also, we placed the RH meter into the tent this morning, and I will get a humidity reading in a couple of hours. The PPM reading was 117 right out of the tap into the bubble bucket before we put the air stone back in. We will get a PPM tomorrow morning, and also a humidity reading tonight during lights off. If I am forgetting anything, please let me know.
Oh yeah, I was also thinking that if we had an inline intake fan, opposite the exhaust fan, it might also be helpful. I don't see how it could hurt, but maybe it would help with the air flow.

According to the label on the product, we use them at 1/4 strength. Approximately 2 milliliters per gallon of water if I remember correctly. I don't know if this makes a difference, but we mixed all the nutrients together in one container.

What I'm wondering Gramps, is if you might be lowering your PH a little too much? Based on this diagram P, Ca, and Mg are available ABOVE 6.5, in soil.

I use soil and no pH or ppm meter. When I have tested my pH, it's usually right around 6.8-7.2
As long as your roots are happy with a strong rhizosphere, the soil will help to buffer things like pH

BW...that is definitely something to think about. Maybe we'll try getting it between 6.5 and 6.8 instead of this 6.3 or 6.4 that we have been going with. Thank you for taking the time to check on that and post it here.
I would personally not go below 6.5.

It almost seems like you're approaching this grow like a hydro run. Not a bad approach, just needs a little tweaking.

I actually love my soil right at 7. If you can dial it to 6.8 I feel like you'll be seeing a whole new plant

I'm of the same opinion as BW. I also grow in soil, and I almost never pH. I focus more on maintaining a healthy microbial herd, and use products like humic and fulvic to deal with pH and nutrient uptake. I was, and am, hesitant to suggest not pH'ing because I'm not famiiar with Fox Farms, but Blazin Waffles advice is definitely something you should look into and research.

I use a mix of fox farm Ocean Forest and Roots Organic Green Lite.
I found out, as long as my rhizosphere is dialed, I can give them just about anything.
I use water from my hose and just focus on my roots!

Seems a lot of growers are having problems after bubbling there tap water. Id just let it set out with no air bubbling through it. A little chlorine never hurts a plant but co2 in the root zone is a no no.

Once we reach a conclusion we will post in plain english. But what i am reading is your water is adding a lot of nutrients and minerals. You cant be sure what those nutrients are or what their concentration is. Then when you add your nutrient solution it throws the soil chemistry all out of balance causing a number of different problems.

PW, I don't know if he tried this with his water or not. First I wouldn't be bubbling it. I just usually let my water set for 24-48 hours before I use it brings the ppm's down and the PH. Does sound like it is a water problem though. Just a thought...
