A few nug shots from the last GDP plant I chopped and dried:

Pre '98 Bubba Kush S1, just transplanted into a 7 gallon square pot:
So.... how often do you water with a 7 gallon pot mid flower? Why don't you use 3 or 5 gallons? I'm running 2 gallon pots and I hate them. Im watering everyday at the moment and i hate watering now. I've also ran 3 gallons and I hate them too. I'm thinking about a 5 gallon but was kinda wondering why you choose the pot size you did and your experience with smaller pots..

And is that the 14 inch one for sale on the 'bay? I've had my eye on those. :hmmm:

Twox, I have some nice white 3 gallons I've been thinking of running bloom from seed. Do you think they'd be good for that?

(And I've wondered ... is that Dos Equis? ... I like that stuff. :cheesygrinsmiley:)

I hate watering everyday too. I switched to 5 gallons and it's helped with yield too. Totally worth it!!

Those are the two main reasons I went to larger pots. When they hit mid bloom they need to be watered too often in smaller pots. I've noticed the larger pots bring larger yields also, which says something because I don't really grow for yield.
I was gonna ask this question to everyone the other day, but forgot. Subtracting the first three weeks as seedling stage, how long do you grow a plant (in weeks) before you start bloom? I rarely go past 3 more weeks myself, which is probably why I get on average 1 oh-zee per plant (low).
I got those pots from the local hydro shop; I'll measure one later to see if it's 14".

I was vegging for 70-100 days, including the seedling weeks, so another 7-11 weeks before the flip, but I was getting obsessive with the training. :cheesygrinsmiley: 100 days is a waste of time IMHO. I'll be shooting for 70 or less next run. I was averaging about 2.5 zees per harvest, though.

I kept track of grams/day and it's not a straight line at all. I often got enough extra yield with a long veg to make up for the added time. But that also means that you don't necessarily lose yield with a shorter veg. I think it really depends a lot on the growing medium. More soil = more yield. Better medium = more yield. Double the soil volume and the plants will naturally be larger, no matter the time.

... I think ... :hmmm:

I personally wouldn't recommend using something I'm unhappy with and 3 gallon pots don't feel big enough. My experience with the 3s has been a mixed bag. Lately they need to be watered every other day mid flower and I still experience under watering issues. On the other hand the happiest plant I've ever had was transplanted the day of flower from a 2 gallon to a 3 gallon. The other plants that received the same treatment hated it and never filled the pot so I've never tried it again.

As for the name, I always used it as a handle and it kinda stuck. Never thought about the relation the the beer but now that you bring it up its kinda cool. It started out as 2 times this or two x that. 2timesFresh, 2x, twice, and I started being called Twox and it sounds so much better than my real common name. I could have combined them but TwoxJason is kinda weird.. lol

Most everything I've gone 5-7 gallons with, when I empty the pot after harvest it looks like there's a lot of room left for root growth (too big). As short as my veg periods are I should use 2-3 gallon pots with Indicas and 5 gallon pots with Sativas. I used that 7 gallon square pot (inside dimensions 11" x 11" x 12"; outside dimension one cubic foot) because this Pre '98 is kinda big and has about ten weeks to go. If I ever start doing longer veg periods I'll go with bigger pots, but I need to be more conservative with the mediums I'm using. Whoever came up with the expression dirt cheap ain't been to the hydro store lately. :(

I flowered out this two girls while they were still in same 3 gallon pots.

I uppotted the delicious candy into a 7 gallon fabric pot while leaving the other in the 3 gallon pot.

ended up getting over 3 oz off the candy and only 1.5 off the other.

Here's the GDP parents :) I cut the top off the father:

It's laying down next to a clone of what I hope is the original GDP clone I've been doing:
