Glimmer Grows More Autos - Blue Dream - Amnesia & Dark Devil In Coco With MH/LEDs

Wow gg I just agree with you so much in the dark devil. This is my first grow and I absolutely cannot wait to see dark devil big with those purple buds ! Now of course I'm excited to see in plant get fully grown and have some fat trichy buds but the DD is just breath taking.

I am soo excited for you and this journey you are on with seeds ! Amensia looks like the quality she-male!! Hopefully you can catch her/him opening up the sacs and get he cutting separated to control pollination.

Thank you, Camo! She is a really special strain, no doubt about it. I've decided I have to throw her into my next grow for sure, partly because I want to get seeds :) I had a close look at the treated tip on the DD this morning and there are certainly staminate pods coming, they're just so purple they don't pop against the purple foliage and I couldn't see them, heh heh heh

Your plants still look amazing GG. You know everybody is talking about these DD's so Maybe Ill order some the next time I can. However, I still want to try Dr. Kripplings' Chocolate Orange auto. Maybe, ill get both!

~Keep up the Great Work~

Ooooh, Chocolate Orange Auto? Are you kidding? That sounds AMAZING! Off to check seed banks -- THANK YOU!

Looking great as always GG keep up the splendid work!

Thank you so much, lexort :)

Congrats glimmer, member of the month is no picnic. Thanks for stopping by my journal, and your little grow looks great too. All the best for your girls, cheers

Thanks, Snid -- I really appreciate that, and your stopping by!

Looks like your going to have plenty of fem auto pollen! Awsome work and great pics too. How much for 10 seeds? Haha:cheesygrinsmiley:

Haha for real ^^^^^^ Nicholas

Because I want to grow lots and lots of autos, learning how to make seeds is like learning how to clone for me -- a necessary technique to avoid paying 100s of dollars for commercial seeds. After this experimental run, my next project will be to produce DD seeds for real, because I think I'm going to be growing at least one of these plants each time for the foreseeable future :)

GG I'm on my first grow, I believe I will have 1 more grow after this one and then I'll do a cs seed run on my 3rd grow and do it like toker69 did!!

Oh also know that Aslong as you are growing I'll be following my sweet Canadian friend !!

I'm stoked you're going to do the cs thing! I bet we can get it down to a fine art, eh? Toker69, wherever he is, is my guiding light in this, too :) That thread of his is worth reading and re-reading -- golden advice and he illustrates everything. It's funny the aspects of growing that appeal to specific people, eh? I have no interest in growing the biggest plants or getting the most yield although I greatly admire all the folks that are doing amazing work in that area. But producing seeds -- THAT fascinates me for some reason!

Finally caught up reading, and subbed, if you don't mind.

Amongst the colorful cast of characters here, you are a rainbow glimm, and I look forward to every articulate post.

Also, congrats on your recent achievements!

Hey, Yeatster! My spongy friend! So good to see you here -- thanks for coming by and for the compliments! It is a colourful group on this site, and I suspect you will turn out to be one of the most colourful :)

Hi, weedman! I'm a total beginner at this, but here's my understanding (and please, anyone, jump in and correct me so I'll learn):

Cannabis normally has two sexes -- the males produce pollen and the females produce seed. Because the females also produce tons of THC bearing flowers, they're the ones we want to harvest. In the old days (heh heh heh) the weed we bought usually had seeds in it, although it's long been recognized that the best, most potent buds are unfertilized and seedless.

Feminized cannabis seeds, as sold by seed banks, usually produce about 99% female plants, and save growers a lot of time and space and energy growing out the plants to the point you can sex them. To get them you need to make sure that both the pollen and the flowers come from female plants. Because colloidal silver interrupts the hormones of the developing flower on a female, she will develop pollen sacs instead on the treated flowering points. She is still genetically female, so her pollen is female. And unlike the pollen you can collect from plants that hermie due to stress or genetics, which can pass that trait on, the pollen produced from colloidal silver applications seems more stable.

In addition to producing feminized seeds, I want to produce seeds that will auto flower, because they're hella expensive :) So my goal is to treat one emerging bud site of each of my three strains to produce pollen, which I will use to pollinate one bud on each to give me some seeds. They will therefore self pollinate, if all works out, so I will have Auto Amnesia XXL seeds, Auto Blue Dream seeds and Auto Dark Devil seeds!

I hope!

Good morning!

FEMINIZED POLLEN PROJECT UPDATE

AMNESIA XXL

It's getting close to the time when I have to remove Amnesia's pollen-bearing branch from the tent before she goes kerblooie. Production of pollen sacs has really surged and more are changing to an orange/apricot colour indicative of ripeness. Most of the pistils have disappeared. I think it looks really pretty in the LED light, too, but included a non-LED photo for more clarity:

This is to show how far down the stem the pollen producing goes. I only ever sprayed right at the top, so between dripping and osmosis the lower bud sites have been converted. Colloidal silver is powerful stuff! I've read of cases where the grower pierced the stem by the flowering tip he wanted to change and pollen sacs popped up all over the plant!

And here's a more overall photo of Amnesia showing the pollen sacs on the right and the normal flowering tops elsewhere:

I leave tomorrow for four days for business but will take the chance that the pollen sacs don't explode until after Sunday when I get back. When I get back home I will snip off this branch and let it ripen outside the tent in a glass of water. That's the plan, anyway :)

BLUE DREAM

Coming along:

DARK DEVIL:
The pollen sacs are getting bigger and turning a bit more green, so they're more visible:

I hope to do a big update tomorrow before I leave on my trip, but just wanted to drop this here for comments if you have any. I noticed that one of the two biggest colas on the Amnesia, (you can see it in the fourth photo above, too) has an oddly flat top, as if it had been quite severely back built. Examining it, I think it's a double top? It's just one stem, but really does look like some kind of conjoined twin cola. Here's a photo, and another one from the other biggest cola to show the difference. Has anyone ever encountered this before?

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day!

My Revolver in my first grow journal has something very similar. Been following it pretty closely for a few weeks now in pictures.

Love it!

Aaah, I could have asked you as well!
I was thinking of laying a wet towel on the floor of the box.

To keep bread from drying in a bread warmer, I have always left a soup cup with a wet rag in it.
I will try the cups first, thanks glimm!

Ah! What a great idea! And would last a long time when you're gone all day.

@Glimmer

Yeah, I saw some Dr. Krippling's Chocolate Orange Auto on Bonza

And I just found it on Herbies, too. THANK YOU! I think there could be so much scope for cannabis theme gardens -- all chocolate, all lemon, all purple ... just strains with really stupid names :) heh heh heh

Yeah glimmergrass if you have a thousand seeds in the cupboard then growing an 10 oz plant is really irrelevant ! I'm can't eat for the experience of breeding and pollinating my ladies with a shemale lol! Yes toker69 should be given a motm award or something for that damn journal !

Absolutely! If that seed costs you $20 (Canadian) then you have to make it worth your while.

I'm going to have to reed taker69 now , as if i haven't got enough to reed LoL.
Be safe .

It's really good stuff. He explains it very clearly and with cute illustrations :)

Thank you
for taking the time to pass the word..

Where is all the pretty pics glimmer??

Thanks, weedman! More coming :)

Hey glimm, my loofah buddy, I started a journal! I need people like you, or I will be destined to failure.:peacetwo:

I seriously can't get over the fact that you are new to this game. Unbelievable!
I will be referring to this journal one day, when I am confident enough to attempt this. BRAVO!

Yay on the journal! +reps for starting a journal -- it's such a useful tool and gives you a home base so that people can track you down and be nice to you :) God, I love this place ...

And thanks for the compliment, it means so much to me. There's a point at the beginning of acquiring almost any skill, when you don't know what you're doing and with a little luck you can sort of lead a charmed life for a bit. You can do some cool things because you don't even know the questions to ask that would stop you even trying to do what you're doing. (I'm not stoned but I know I'm not making any sense :)) Things get harder when you have JUST enough knowledge to be dangerous! I am now there, I think ... should be interesting! I'm going to try to grow in soil next time, and I expect the screw ups to be monumentally entertaining and instructive ...

I see them pollen sacs and the first thing that pops into my head IS KILL IT KILL IT KILL IT :rofl:

KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!! heh heh heh -- I bet, Spart :) Because I don't have the experience of sexing plants and needing to get rid of boy parts, the sight of pollen-producing balls doesn't freak me out -- it's just, like -- oooh. Those are pretty! And they are, really. Too bad the boys get so little love in this cruel world of cannabis growing :(

Cannabis growers drink male tears. Or something :)

Woowie....GG, you sure do grow them well. :thumb::circle-of-love::bravo:

Aw, bless you, MJ! What a sweetie you are ... Love right back at you, my dear! :circle-of-love:

My Revolver in my first grow journal has something very similar. Been following it pretty closely for a few weeks now in pictures.

Love it!

Okay, I missed that, sorry! Off to look at your two headed monster ... it's a freaky little mutation but cool. Will make an interesting nug, for sure!

Hi glimmer , those plants look great , i bet you can't stop looking at them .
I find it fascinating how we or rather you can manipulate the plants , :goodjob:
Be safe .

I loved in my first grow when they were in the shower and I could just open the door and gaze at them with goofy love :circle-of-love: Now I have to unzip a tent first to see them -- it's a bit like putting a condom on my enthusiasm but I still enjoy the end product :)

And I'm always impressed by the sometimes dangerous human drive to mess with things, to manipulate whatever part of the natural world we're interacting with, including each other. It's like most of us have a curious 4 year old child in us who just wants to understand where the levers and buttons are. If I do THIS, what happens over THERE? All of agriculture and animal husbandry depends on this, of course, but we do it all over the place.

Thanks, sonic :)
